  1. That’s what we were told last night because I specifically asked. The refund is for those quarantined and not those that tested positive. We will see. I think the hardest (as the one not sick 😜) part is hearing all the announcements about things going on around the ship. The ship is why we cruise. We were having such a great cruise and to have it all stop is tough. The mental anguish has been harder for me (again the one NOT sick!). But as I said 25 years ago today, “in sickness and in health”, 😎
  2. Dress like going to Alaska; layers. In most of the ports this trip it’s been cold, not so cold, a little warm and hot all the same port on the same day. Same for the sea days. Bring more cool/cold weather clothes but definitely bring shorts as well.
  3. Thanks. Unfortunately hubby got Covid on Friday and we’ve been stuck in our cabin ever since. But up until then the music was great! That’s one thing that makes it so hard to be stuck in our room, the music was so good this trip! Enjoy!!
  4. I would have to say that the live music options are just wonderful. Kyle, the solo guitarist is beyond great! The two band are also wonderful. The “classical” string due is good too! They rock it out with up beat versions of classical music. They all end pretty early in the night but as we get older, that’s a good thing! There is nothing better than sitting out at the Sunset bar listening to Kyle play his set. We love it!! (Didn’t mention that we are on the Summit right now.)
  5. You could swim to Portland in that amount of time!! 🤪
  6. Due to a tropical storm (?) over the northern part of the Canadian Maritimes we had to change our itinerary. Our overnight to Charlottetown (Fri-Sat) was changed to a single port day on Saturday. Today is a sea day but we are basically “parked” of the coast of Halifax having a wonderful albeit a little windy sea day. Rough seas will start tonight as we take tomorrow to go to PEI. I’ve never spent a full day on a ship just “hanging out” in the ocean.
  7. I understand that. I want to make sure that the ship was scheduled to arrive that late. We get to Portland at 7am. I assume that customs will start soon after that and not wait until 10. Trying to clarify because of something kpark895 wrote.
  8. What time were you scheduled to arrive? I think it was 10 right. Hence your immigration starting then. We arrive at 7:00am.They aren’t going to wait for immigration until 10 do you think?
  9. I know you don’t want to hear this but hurry home! We get on the ship tomorrow. 🤣
  10. Looking at my upcoming cruise on the Summit, they have a Casino Gents Night where the description is “Gents only”. Do they really kick all the woman out of the casino for an hour? (There is also a Casino Ladies Night on another night.) It says it’s from 8-9 and 10-11. So the opposing gender is kicked out for an hour, let back in for an hour and the kicked out again. Are they serious?!? And who decides what gender someone is?
  11. I think you are fine. Being in a car in Boston is risky but not a boat.
  12. Thanks. Very informative. But I would HATE to go onstage! I’m an extrovert that can quite shy at times. 🤪
  13. Thank you! We have a private tour guide and it too far from where we are going so I’m going to skip it. I like tours that are only 4-5 hours max.
  14. We booked NINE months in advance and seating was limited. So glad I thought to check. Didn’t realize that (a) you could book it that far in advance and (b) that everyone else did and hence it was already selling out.
  15. I had to book 9 people in Eden. The maximum is 8. So I made two reservations hoping we can have the retreat host help us sit them together. But I did have to pay for all of them myself as I made the reservation.
  16. September is the beginning of "shorts and hoodie" weather in New England. But the more north you go the sooner the shorts turn into long pants. But then we could get a "New England Summer in September where it jumps into the 80s. But nights do cool off quickly. Basically, it depends. And it can change day to day. You will need to pack both shorts and jeans, light shirt and sweatshirt, light jacket to rain coat. I think pack like when going to Alaska. Think layers that you can take off and add back. As the saying goes, "If you don't like the weather in New England, wait a few minutes". Especially in the fall.
  17. I saw her on my last cruise! I thought, wow that woman needs a makeover! I didn’t realize she was a character and doing that on purpose! 😂
  18. Thank you! I thought I was following and then I got confused. I would love to find out who is officially joining on the 11th.
  19. Now I’m confused. Was that a typo? You say Rich is on the Apex but you say you board the Summit on the 31st and he leaves with you on the 11th. I’m on the Summit on the 11th so interested.
  20. They usually count the number of passengers when loading the tender. I guess if there was someone extremely large they may just count them as two people. But it would be absurd to tell someone that they are too heavy for a boat that is carrying that many people! As someone said, there are some weight limit for excursions but I would say that that is because the boat is much smaller.
  21. Hello! Really enjoying this thread!! Are the Retreat hosts leaving on the 11th? Would prefer to not have new folks as they are just getting up to speed on the ship and the other personnel. I’ll be fine either way, just curious.
  22. I always thought it was another perk of being Aqua class. I go in there all the time with a book and look at the water. A nice quiet space. But I went and looked at the Aqua class page on the website and it doesn’t mention it. I figure if I respect the quiet tone of the space, I’m okay. There is never anyone in there.
