  1. @bluemarble Is that a Lego build?
  2. @smokeybandit Thank you for your story and encouragement. I showed him the menu and he says he’ll have mac and cheese, french fried and ice cream. No surprises there. Thanks so much.
  3. I realize I said I wouldn’t think about going to the MDR with him, but I’m wondering if they have a children’s menu? Remember, french fries, milk, ice cream, chocolate…
  4. Grandma traveling with a 5 year old who will only drink milk. Is it widely available on-board? Do all cabins have mini-fridges? We’ll be in a basic balcony or perhaps an extended balcony cabin. I have no plans to even attempt eating in the MDR. Any suggestions?
  5. @Belle on board We haven’t sailed out of San Fran. but we’ve visited many many times and stayed at many hotels both near and far the airport. If it were me I would get a hotel as close to your embarkation site as possible. You will pay more but the drive into San Francisco can be a nightmare. If you’re downtown you are within easy distance of the many sites to visit and getting around is pretty easy.
  6. @BigMac1953 It’s not about the pots and pans. It is interesting to see how the kitchen is laid out and the technology that allows them to track 2,000+ dinners. The huge freezers etc. I’ve done tours before but I’m not sure I could handle a four hour tour.
  7. I never travel anywhere without a black pashmina and a couple of nice really large scarves to endure the air conditioning while eating. They look beautiful over dresses and spruce up pants to smart casual. Take up far less room than cardigans. I usually wear one on the plane.
  8. Sell that picture to Cunard for marketing.

    Pol Aker?

@ballroom-cruisers Sometimes I think we just need something to talk about and something at which to cast stones. If it wasn’t Pol Aker it would be another brand.
  10. In the U.S. today is Mother’s Day. Wishing all of you who are mothers to humans or animals a wonderful day.
  11. @hmorrow Thanks so much for your post. We haven’t sailed Oceania, but will be on Regatta in September. It’s great to hear a good review. To all of you sailing to Alaska on Regatta I hope you enjoy Seattle.
  12. @larry_s_taco We were in grills and not one single man wasn’t in a tux. I was in a position to watch people enter, and I did. Beautiful gowns on the ladies.
  13. Concierge in Grills Lounge on QM2 was able to help us with wifi issues. He was well versed in both Apple and Samsung products.
  14. I am SO glad you had a great time in London and the excursions have met expectations. Keep the fun comin’.
  15. @BklynBoy8 I have to agree with @Host Hattie that I need to make sure we’re happy with our table on embarkation day. Fish and Chips another day.
  16. The sun has finally arrived in Seattle and we will reach 70 degrees today. Cruise season is well underway with lots of ship horns blasting away between 4:00 and 5:00 each night. The market is packed with people pulling carry-on luggage and gasping at the cost of morel mushrooms. The windows of the house are covered in plastic due to new house paint and the yard is filled with deck furniture as we prepare to replace the deck. I hope everyone has a great day.
  17. @bluemarble I’ve been watching to see your posts. Are you having a grand time?
  18. I hope Cunard is printing in bold, “Do not arrive early,” on boarding passes so people are aware of this now enforced boarding policy. Does anyone know if this is happening in New York or San Francisco or is it only at Southampton.
  19. @steve4031 I have them arrange a private car from the ship to the airport. In London the bell man at our hotel arranged the van from our hotel to Southampton. He had no problem securing the van. In NY the cost was $200. through Cunard. This year it’s $300. to JFK. When you exit in NY there is a person who can see the blue tags on your luggage and she sweeps you in the correct direction where the cars are waiting. Another person grabs your luggage and away you go.
  20. @Winifred 22 Congratulations on your loyalty status, I only have one cruise to my name. But, I’m going to drop my bags and run to the Golden Lion on embarkation in June. Perhaps I’ll run into @BklynBoy8 since we’ll be on the same cruise!
  21. @steve4031 I agree the private car is expensive, but we found it was worth every penny. We had WAY too much luggage and it wouldn’t fit in a car, so we ended up in a very nice Mercedes van. We enjoyed the countryside and learned lots from our driver. Also, call Cunard before you leave the U.S. and you can book a transfer before you leave home.
  22. Great observation and questions @Kynance regarding the queue. I hope there is signage.
  23. I didn’t think we would get a “regret” email. We’re in QG5 and bid to move to QG3. At the time there were lots of open QG5 and 6, and they had dropped the price enough that we rebooked.
