  1. @esrs Thanks for posting your story. I always purchase Cunard Care, and agree with you, wonder if it is worth it, and what kind of hassle it will be if I have to use it. After reading your story I will continue to purchase it. I’m glad you’re feeling better and won’t require surgery. Thanks for your report.
  2. We’ve been at the window and 1 table in from the window. Both are fine. The window does provide a place to rest a purse or book.
  3. @Bigmike911 I hope you don’t have to replace the generator $$$. Is that a reasonable amount for removing a downed tree? I bet there is a huge demand. Over 200K without power still? That’s a lot of people, but unless utilities are underground the high wind is going to take out the poles, not to mention trees falling on lines. People are critical of the City of Seattle for hacking away at street trees, but we seldom loose power due to falling branches/trees. Cities outside of Seattle have lots more power losses. Hang in there!
  4. Did you have a machine to roll them out, or did you do it with a rolling pin? My DH says learning to make croissants is high on his list of To Do’s during retirement.
  5. @rakkor What a great Christmas present! I hope everything tasted as good as it looks.
  6. @Bigmike911 Do you have to buy a new generator? How goes the tree removal?
  7. @NE John I’m glad you enjoyed nice wines on your cruise. I think Pinot Noir really is my favorite varietal. I think you get the US packages on your initial booking. We rebooked the Alaska cruise, changed dates, and lost the packages. But, the base cost of the cruise was higher on the July 11 sale.
  8. Oh, I want to hear more about this! Do any of the other Carnival lines work with any of the major casino brands? RCI works with MGM and after sailing with them once I earned a free casino voyage and got some good offers. I hope Cunard will do the same. Perhaps I just wasn’t betting enough on Cunard!
  9. I checked our Alaska, 2025, Mastersuite booking, and even with additional OBC, it went up in price. No gratuities, no drink package.
  10. We took the 3 grandsons to Lake Quinault on the Olympic Peninsula for a few days of hiking, ocean wave jumping, and swimming. It started with a ferry ride. They all loved the wild huckleberries and bridges were an excuse to play Winnie the Pooh sticks. Great memories created.
  11. @Bigmike911 I’m sorry about the tree, but glad you came through it safely. I hope you have help cleaning up all of the debris!
  12. Seattle Times Newspaper. July 9. Ban cruise ships on Saturdays to give locals a break? Alaska city considers it https://replica.seattletimes.com/infinity/article_popover_share.aspx?guid=12001673-5351-4422-93c3-5450770929b4&share=true
  13. @Bigmike911 I’ll be thinking about you and hoping all goes well.
  14. We get really good lamb from the Willamette Valley in Oregon.
  15. @NE John I am SO glad you have had a good time on your cruise. I’ve followed along and read every post. Are you hooked on QG now?
  16. This has been a great string of fun to follow. I have enjoyed seeing new names posting, and some will be with me on the 18 day Dec. TA, and I hope we meet. Thanks to @Joe33472 for all of the hard work of posting such great information. I hope your SO has ended the voyage happy.
  17. @Megabear2 I’ve sailed Settle to Alaska 4 times and have never been through the inside passage. Q526 looks like it goes through on the eastern side of Vancouver Island, which is the inside passage. I’ve always wanted to do the White Pass train, but it has always sold out. We’ve booked it through Cunard for June, 2025. I’m probably paying more but I am determined to be on that train when it pulls out. (I don’t think you need a passport anymore because they stop and turn around before you cross the border). When I couldn’t get tickets last year I went onto Trip Advisor and booked a road tour that went over the border into the Yukon and did dog mushing with our 10 year old grandson. The mushing was interesting and the scenery amazing. Pack layers.
  18. @buchanan101 What do you mean you don’t know if the button works!!!! You HAVE to press it and find out. We’re all holding our breath. (Wait a minute, did you just bring that along and put it there to fool us?)
  19. @NE John I’m looking forward to reading your posts. Where are you staying in Vancouver and where are you eating? Thanks for the tip about using a cab for drop-off.
  20. @NE John I’m so excited for you! Enjoy QG. Have fun and please leave a review. We’re booked for the same cruise this week next year. You should have really long days due to the Solstice.
  21. @D&N Thanks for finding and posting the new list. We’ll be on her in December and my DH will surely be going through this list carefully. I hope all is well with you.
  22. Great details in your review @Jack E Dawson and it sounds like you had a grand time. Sorry to hear about the positive Covid tests and hope it doesn’t last long.
  23. Good Luck @Jack E Dawson. I feel for the people waiting to board. It reminds of the 4th of July cruise last year that was 6 hours delayed. It was a nightmare for those waiting to board. I hope you make your flight and I’m glad to hear the crossing has been good for you. (Looking at being in your city in February for Chicago Symphony Concert)
