  1. Does anyone have any idea why they would offer MoveUp bid opportunities for suite categories that don't appear to be available on their website?
  2. Below the column "Upgrade Type", it shows the type of cabin you bid on. Click on those words (in your case "Sunset Veranda", that should be a hyperlink.
  3. I had the same issue...on the one it doesn't appear you can modify, click on the Room Type. It is a link (although it doesn't appear as one).
  4. Question...I didn't get an email, but was able to make an offer via the link to the moveup page. Is there any difference in my doing it without the email, and can anyone come up with a reason why I may not have gotten the email?
  5. Wait, what? You can’t order drinks while dining in any restaurants? Am I reading that correctly? I hope not!
  6. Our upcoming California coastal on the Eclipse is very close to being sold out and it was no bargain.
  7. It's like I always tell my wife...keep your expectations low, and I will rarely disappoint you! 😉
  8. Been on lots of cruises, Diamond on Royal, mainly stay in suites over the past 10 years or so....going on my first Celebrity cruise in a few weeks. Not sure why I haven't sailed Celebrity...was very loyal to Royal with a few other lines sprinkled in...I beleiv we had a couple booked that we decided to cancel for whatever reasons. Anyway, we will be doing the Pacific coastal in a CS, and then we have two others booked in a SS. But to my point in my subject line...as I read all of the negativity on here...and there has been a TON of it...we won't know what we are missing with the so-called cutbacks. We will be able to judge our experience with limited expectations. I remember a quote by the great Ray Charles I heard many years ago when someone asked him how disadvantaged he feels about being born blind. His response was "It's like someone who never had cornbread. You can't miss something you never experienced before." We will get on the ship knowing the Eclipse is an older ship with minimal expectations other than hoping the ship is clean, the service is great, the food is good or better than just good in some cases, the bartenders can make good drinks, our cabin is cleaned daily and is a good temperature at night, our reasonable needs are attended to by someone with a good attitude, and we enjoy meeting some other nice folks. Not worried about the cookies, the mini-fridge, food that used to be there (and isn't now), etc. And I look forward to sharing our experience afterwards for those of you who are also new to Celebrity!
  9. I've read a couple of conflicting responses (or maybe I misread some responses) but can you order off other menus in Luminae on the Eclipse? Does their menu include some basic staples (in addition to daily changes in menus)? Thanks
  10. Has anyone here done the (Basic) Exclusive Photo Session they offer with your partner? If so, can you please elaborate a little and let me know if you were pleased with it....thanks!
  11. I have a complaint about your complaint about people complaining about complaining.
  12. I pay for the Retreat so I don't have to interact with the unwashed masses. Maybe a separate forum would be good so I don't have to post with them! But seriously...separate forums would be silly as the vast majority of the discussions here are about the cruise line in general.
  13. Or people who actually like Celebrity/People who used to like Celebrity?
  14. It seems as thought they already do...as a Diamond on Royal I was deemed an Elite automatically on Celebrity...so there already is some joint intel in place.
  15. I saved a few hundred dollars on excursions on two upcoming cruises.
  16. Biggest difference for us is the vibe...happy to cruise with a more mature crowd with less emphasis on water slides and rock climbing walls.
  17. Replacing a cruiser vs. gaining a new cruiser.
  18. What's the math if the petty BS like this causes say 5 people to no longer cruise Celebrity per week, for 52 weeks?
  19. As others have said, some of us book suites for both the larger cabins and the Retreat (or Concierge level/Haven, etc.). I started while cruising some of the bigger ships on Royal, with just my wife, and enjoyed having more private/exclusive-feeling areas on the ship from which to alter the experience in that way. It's nice to have a sun deck where you're not fighting for real estate, it's nice to have more private breakfast area than the MDR, it's nice to have a lounge with snacks and espresso to relax in after visiting a port. And it's really nice to not have to go to the MDR for dinner. Personalized butler service is nice, but we aren't very demanding or needy, so it's not the determinant factor for us. And while I see that some cruise much for frequently, we usually cruise once, maybe twice a year, so it's worth the extra money for the enhanced experience. I will say the amount of negativity seen on these boards lately is a little disturbing, but I do understand we all have our own hot buttons and determining factors.
  20. We did one earlier this year. Yes the overall vibe of VV does seem geared to a 20/30s crowd, the actual passenger mix does trend older. Nothing wild unless you choose to attend their pajama party (which happened later than we were up), or unless you're easily offended by things like their ice cream venue being named "Lick me till Ice Cream". You also need to be accepting (or at least tolerant) of outwardly alternative staff members and casual dress codes for staff and crew. We enjoyed the cruise and appreciated the many differences between it and a more conventional cruise line, but for whatever reason, our next three cruises are booked on Celebrity.
  21. (Not my pic, just seemed like a good thing to post!)
  22. I believe Oceania's PH suites are the most equivalent to a SS. I had a Caribbean cruise booked on Oceania's new Vista ship for next February, but ended up switching to the Apex because I thought a 1200 passenger ship would be too small for a Caribbean itinerary. We have several friends who only cruise Oceania...they swear by the food and the service, but admit there is less to do on those ships at night and on sea days.
