January 11, 1664. The invention of the party, the first of which, according to the journal of Sir Thomas Browne of Norwich, occurred at the celebration of the birthday of Mr. Henry Howard, 7th Duke of Norfolk, at Norwich on January 11, 1664, when they kept up the dance until two o’clock in the morning. And why is this important? This was just part of the write up for a party invitation by my friend Dennis, to celebrate and recreate the invention of the party he hosted on January 11, 1980. Was it really the first time “the party” was invented? Who knows, but it sounded like a good reason for a January party back in 1980. In fact, back then, we could come up with many reasons to have a party. Why do I remember? Well, it is an anniversary of sorts. It was at this party, 42 years ago today, that I met my wife Susan, on a blind date. Six months and 22 days later we were married. However, that party started at 9 pm. We just remarked that if we were going to that party today, it would be starting past our bedtime. 🤣🤣 We have had some laughs already today, remembering that party.

You did good, if you got it all washed out. Several years ago, when my kids were young, we were making one of our annual driving trips to Florida for the holidays. I was driving an old Crown Victoria at the time. While passing a semi truck in Georgia, he started to pull into my lane. As I swerved left, that fine, red, Georgia clay started to suck my car down the median. So in fine, National Lampoon Vacation mode, I thought if I got enough speed up, I could make it to the bottom and back up the other side. As I looked in my mirrors, red clay was flying everywhere. Long story short, the wheel wells, undercarriage, even the engine compartment had that clay in it. Even after a thorough cleaning, I would still see some red, for quite some time when I washed that car. Just one of life’s little adventures.

Do they have Starlink? -
Thanks for the input. Yes, I have been to Tire Rack, and they have tons of information, enough to overwhelm you. Depending on what sites you visit, you can get 10 different answers for what the best tire may be. The Tour HP is what replaced the Tour, but it doesn’t seem to rate as well. For the past 10-15 years, I have stayed with Michelin because they have been good. The set I have has 45k, and I could probably get another 10k from them, but would like a little more tread for winter driving. No real amount of snow in our forecast for the next 10 days, so I have time to do more research.

I am looking for a little info from our friends here, on tires. On both of our SUVs, I have been running Michelin Latitude Tours, and they have given me good mileage, ride, and performance in the snow. However, Michelin discontinued these and replaced them with Tour HPs, which do not appear to be as good. So now I am researching new tires for our Highlander. I have looked at a couple from Goodyear that rate high. I have been looking at Goodyear Assurance Comfortdrive and the Goodyear CC2. Both appear to rate pretty high. The only thing that concerns me is the CC2 has a directional tread, so rotations could only be front to back on the same side of the vehicle. Anyone have any experience with either of these? If so, how are they for ride quality, quietness, and performance in snow? Or, has anyone used other tires that they would recommend.

Our son has been experiencing some of that same weather. They too are up the hill and away from the streams, but their house backs up against some pretty steep hillsides. So far, they have just had high winds and lots of rain and no power loss. They are hoping they don’t see any problems from these next few days of storms.

Ok, I am onboard for this one. What are your plans for Aruba and Curaçao? We sailed there a couple times since the restart. -
Kidney Disease and accomadations

I assume it hasn’t progressed to the dialysis stage yet. If it has, you would need to look at dialysis at sea, and make arrangements through them. It is only offered on certain sailings, and certain ships. My father sailed several times while receiving dialysis treatments. It is, of course, more expensive than a sailing without treatments. -
Thanks for bringing us along. Now I have to look for a new live to follow. We would have been boarding today, but……….. You probably passed our friends, looking lost without us to guide them. Knowing how early they get to places, they were probably there when you sailed in to port. Safe travels home.

I watched, what I thought was an amusing video on YouTube. Search for Californians move to Texas, Episode 5 Buc-ee’s. Caution, it does have humor, and California and Texas stereotypes, so if anyone is offended by any of that, do not watch. 😏 I felt like the male actor when I made my first entry into a Buc-ee’s.
