  1. That has always been my point of view.
  2. Yes, I know about the first night for suites. But if you're not in a suite, are in a cc mini, and you're elite then it's useful to be able to book a specialty early if you're picky about date and time even though you have cc dining. I should have specified this in my post.
  3. Wouldn't that be for specialty venue reservations?
  4. No, I kinda went off topic on this. The bottle of wine we gave to the nice lady wasn't out of the mini bar; it was just the one that came with the cc cabin. Sorry for the confusion. We had the usual suspects in the mini bar.
  5. On our last cruise, I gave away the unopened cc mini bottle of wine to a lady who had a cabin down the hall from us. We got talking with her on the way back to our cabin, and I asked her if they drank wine. She said yes, so I asked her if she'd like our bottle.
  6. We've done several cruises to Alaska in September, and the weather was mostly great. Crowds aren't as bad then.
  7. This is a great cabin! We stayed in it earlier this year, and we've had the same one on other Royal class ships. As was mentioned above, the door to the balcony isn't locked. I've nearly always found a place to sit outside, working around the wind. A really nice thing about this cabin is the separation between the bedroom and the rest of the cabin. My hubby tends to get up way too early, and with the layout he has access to the balcony and the rest of the cabin without disturbing me. We keep the curtains closed until we settle down for the night, and then we open them up for star watching. This one and the corresponding M107 on starboard side are our every favorite cabins.
  8. I'm not a big fan of this one either. I need more incentive than this to sail out of Vancouver, which is not our favorite place to sail from.
  9. We were on the Carnival Jubilee in 1991 for the total eclipse. Very different ship, of course, from either the Emerald or the Discovery. I can't really say as to available deck space, since I dragged us out way early to stake out a prime spot on an open deck aft. We only left that prime spot in shifts.
  10. I stayed in these more than once and never realized the sofa doesn't pull out. Saw it here on cc and checked. It definitely doesn't. It was said here that this is probably because the sofa would block any kind of easy pass through from bedroom area to bathroom or balcony. I think that's the case.
  11. Definitely, you shouldn't want any distractions to that! 🤣
  12. I don't usually reply to posts when I don't have anything on the exact topic, but this one I will. I haven't hit the exact thing you're seeing, but I'm really surprised at the lack of information I can see on both the website and the app. I'm a mainly-Princess cruiser, with my first booking on HAL for September of this year. On Princess, between the website and the app, I can see every last detail. I can't with HAL. I find this odd.
  13. Well that's a big no from me! Why should I be forced to pay for things I don't want, need or use? Specifically, we don't drink alcohol, so I definitely resist the notion that I should be forced to pay for it.
  14. I would definitely bid for this at that price. You may not win, but if you do it's a great deal.
  15. Background. We've cruised on Princess exclusively for a lot of years now. After our last trip, my hubby expressed interest in trying something else. We've never cruised on HAL, and they had a nice promo on a sailing that really appealed to us. So, I booked it. I'm not regretting this, but there are some things that are oddly familiar. Half the time, their website doesn't work. Presents a white screen of death with a system message. I don't get the same snafu on HAL's website as I do with Princess, but it's the same basically crappy website situation. People on the HAL board here complain about the HAL app, and I can certainly see why. It works fine on my phone, but it's extremely limited in what it has and what you can see. And it doesn't sound like it works well for everybody. Just for me, personally, I'd rate the medallion app way (way!) above HAL's app. People on the HAL board here also complain about customer service, but I imagine people everywhere complain about customer service in pretty much everywhere.
  16. On the Sky, a few weeks ago, Pub Lunch was listed in the Patter as an option in the buffet.
  17. This seems to depend on the cabin steward. We've had them when the steward just tucked the furniture into the cubbies in the steel railing, and we've also had one where the steward tied them up every night. We love these cabins, but there is a little nit that I didn't see mentioned in my quick scan of the posts. If it's foggy you will definitely be hearing the fog horn in one of these cabins.
  18. Not good enough! We demand a separate, dedicated elite laundry room! With gold plated folding tables. 😂🤣😂
  19. No, it's not. I should have said that. 🙂
  20. Wow! I got one too yesterday and hadn't noticed this. Good to know. I've seen this before on checks, and I'll probably see it again.
  21. This. We've seen men getting turned away too.
  22. I don't understand some of this. It was communicated very clearly to us when our FCC would expire. Very clearly. Also, that expiration date clearly showed up in our account on princess.com. I'm not sure how you didn't get any notification and couldn't see it in your account. Sorry for your experience with the rude customer rep.
  23. We don't drink alcohol, and we also don't usually buy packages. But when I recently booked our first cruise with HAL, I booked it with HIA. There was a promo for an upgrade from obstructed OV to balcony if we purchased HIA. I ended up with the cabin I would have booked anyway, at the same price as booking without the upgrade promo, and I've got HIA. That's a win in my book.
