  1. one card to play the puzzles was $25, 10 cards was $50. Got boring after the first round.Would not do it again.
  2. it took forever for the anchors to hit bottom when we docked in the harbor last week. Due to tides and currents we were back in NY by 1 am Sunday morning
  3. don't forget to contact your travel insurance company. Keep all receipts for any expenses incurred due to the delay.
  4. NCL does not have contracts to broadcast games that are on network tv. They do have contracts with a few European sports channels. They mostly have soccer games on. If a US game is on ESPN it will be shown on the ship. Commercials are regional and you will not see them. The superbowl is a big game and they do special parties. During commercial breaks, they just had a blank screen with a message saying show will be back shortly. If you have a streaming service you may be able to watch the games if you have the premium wifi. Hulu live has worked for me depending on where we are located. Youtube tv may also work. Try signing up for the free promo and see if it works on the ship.
  5. my granddaughter took all her video classes on the Breakaway with no issues with premium package. I was on Prima out of NY to Bermuda and internet was the worst of any ship I have ever been on. They even refunded my payment. So being a new ship is not the answer.
  6. I have stayed in all 4 of those cabins. The 2 bedroom is great when you have more than 2 people because of the extra bathroom. 12502 has only 1 bathroom but the cabin is amazing for views and size. I had quite a few get together in that one with 10+ people with plenty of room for all.
  7. If you use passports to board make sure to not cover your face when debarking. They now have facial recognition so it goes much faster. I have been one of the first off by carrying my own luggage and having priority disembarking. I was home in my house by 9:45. I also drive to the port.
  8. No way to really pin that down. Depends on how many are using the shuttle from other destinations. Takes about an hour by bus from airport to terminal, depending on traffic. Did you price getting a cab or Uber to terminal? Also there are busses that go to the port authority bus terminal from the airport. Then quick cab ride to terminal.
  9. What type of cruise are you doing? If it is closed loop just check in with the baby's birth certificate. Avoid any hassles at terminal. Bring it with you along with passport when you get to terminal. In haven, you can arrive any time you want, up to 2 hours before departure. If you are going to Bermuda, you must bring ID for everyone plus your ship card every time you leave the ship in order to reboard . I usually arrive at the NY terminal around 10 and if the ship arrived back on time will be on board by 11:30. They will bring you right to haven for lunch.
  10. I always book the non haven suites on jewel class ships. The concierge will set up a meeting place to escort you off the ship. Just ask when and where to meet.
  11. I never travel without insurance. One I was booked on a HAL ship that was coming in infected with norovirus. We had already flown to Florida so I called Allianz to see what my options were. They told me to keep my hotel room, go to dinner and keep all receipts. The ship finally departed at midnight. I was able to wait in comfort and have a great dinner instead of being bussed to the convention center and waiting on line for a hot dog and trying to find a seat. Insurance reimbursed all the extra fees.
  12. I have a friend that is on the NCL care team. They were all called into the port. One arrived with100 pizzas and more were ordered. They had cookies ,chips snacks and waters available. Once the ship docked, anyone that needed help with air arrangements was given assistance
  13. The noise on Prima is unlike any noise I have heard on any other NCL ship. I was on deck 12 in haven penthouse first sailing out of NY. Luckily I always sail with earplugs, but the noise ,creaking and banging noises, got thru them. As For the other ships, I never book under the pool deck. You get those same noises all day. Especially the mini suites on deck 11 on jewel class ships. A "seasoned" cruiser would know to look at what is above and below your cabin. Prima is for sure at the bottom of my list for rebooking.I After 30+ NCL cruises this says alot about my feelings for this ship.
  14. They should be out by now. I sailed 9/10 and upgrade offered were sent out over 2 weeks ago
  15. I sailed the first cruise from NY on the Prima in haven. Most of the passengers were seasoned NCL cruisers. My opinion, and the opinion of many others I spoke with was never again for this type of ship. There are so many haven cabins now it is not the same experience. I had a haven penthouse cabin. The bathroom was smaller than an inside cabin on other ships. NO storage at all in bathroom. Next cruise is on Escape with a traditional haven experience. If this had been my first NCL cruise I would also be saying never again to an NCL cruise.
  16. I took my 3 grandkids on the joy last year in the 2 bedroom family suite. They absolutely LOVED it. The girls 16 & 19 stayed in the smaller bedroom with their own bathroom and grandson stayed in the living room area. I had the beautiful master bedroom. Would do it again at the drop of a hat.
  17. Go with an open mind. I was in haven and the ship was at full occupancy. If weather is bad, it will be crowded inside. I have sailed on Breakaway during an Easter break with 5,000 passengers on board. Talk about crowded!!!!! Luckily I was in haven again and didn't leave haven often due to crowds. Most of the ships are sailing at capacity but your cruise experience is what you make of it. I hope you have a fabulous time!!!! Even with all the issues I had on Prima, we had a great time. Just would not book this class ship again. I am old school NCL and love the jewel class ships the best. I prefer not flying to a cruise port so only cruise out of NY most of the time so choices are limited.
  18. it was so bad we had no issues getting a refund for the upgrade. The internet line was always long. I sailed in Oct from NY so location was not the issue. Too many issues to list about this ship. If this is what the future looks like, I hope they never take the away class ships out of service. Had a haven penthouse and would not book haven again on this type of ship. Next cruise is Escape in haven.
  19. John just started his vacation so he will not be your concierge. Prima has quite a few assistants at concierge desk and one main concierge.
  20. I totally agree with this. I sailed the first sailing out of NY in a haven balcony cabin. This is the first time I can honestly say the haven was not worth the hype. Since it was October, most of the outdoor haven areas were not able to be used. Cabin design ESPECIALLY the bathroom left alot to be desired. Casino was too segmented which made it seem small and claustrophobic. I would not book haven or really any cabin on this ship again. My next cruise is on Escape in a forward facing penthouse , which will be the type of NCL cruise I have come to expect.
