  1. depends on the ship. On Freedom a month ago it was the cheap ones, but our bar guy went and found us some of the good ones
  2. Just be aware, you have lots of venues above you that stay open late - you will have the Jazz Club and the Comedy Club right on top of you. We once had an Oceanview on a ship on Deck three and got zero sleep as they were cleaning venues above us all night.
  3. Not been out of PE in a while, but there is no cluster at MIA when boarding Freedom. Very organized. You go in, they direct you where to sit based on when you got there, and they board by row. Will see if anything changes when we go on Oasis in Dec out of MIA.
  4. In Miami, they never check your time. You get there, walk in, get checked in, and go to the waiting lounge. They seat you as you come in. Once boarding starts they go row by row and you board. Goes super fast and easy
  5. Been on 10 cruises since last August and always been 2 lines. Sometimes a bit longer, but never have to wait that long. Again, we don't care if we have the same waitstaff, so makes it much easier for us.
  6. I am a gym rat and no way am I cruising or land vacation without hitting the gym. At home, about 2 hours a day. On the ship, I settle for an hour. Am at the gym by 5:30 am to get my hour in and feel good for the rest of the day. Unlike a lot of people, I see no reason to gain weight just b/c I am on a cruise. I eat no different than at home. Because I work out, rarely do I come back from vacation gaining more than a pound.
  7. not sure how California is, but will tell you 100%, Freedom out of Miami could care less. They never check your boarding time and we get those same emails. You are seated in the waiting lounge as you coming after you check in. Once boarding starts, you board by row and no one cares a bit what you actual boarding time was.
  8. All self serve, been that way for quite a while already.
  9. I always have a copy of my husbands DD214 with me. In 137 cruises, they have never asked for it!!
  10. Do western, they go lower than Eastern. Although if you are from the north, you will probably think the water is warm enough regardless of what itinerary you do. I live in SWFL so won't go in the water those months since too cold for me, but have been in Cozumel in Dec and was able to get in the water as it was warm enough for me.
  11. Cannot tell you how many times when we lived in Orlando we went to watch only to come home because it never happened. So not surprised at all it did not happen today.
  12. On Freedom Aug 19th, crew were wearing the light blue one, but they all had them on.
  13. at 12:01 am. I normally do it around 6 and never have problems getting the first time.
  14. I agree, I want paper, but when on Freedom Aug 19th weekend, could not get one at all, either from our stateroom person or at Guest Services. Will see if I can get a paper one when on Freedom the 16th of Sept.
  15. At home husband eats around 5 or 5:30, but when we travel we never eat that early. We enjoy predinner cocktails when traveling and stay up later, so always eat later. Most of the time we are not even finished with the pool or beach until at least 4:30.
  16. We rarely go to eat before 7 or 7:30 so MTD works perfect for us.
  17. Every cruise we are on there are 2 lines for MTD. one with reservations and one without. We rarely make reservations as to us the whole point of MTD is eating when we feel like it. We could care less if we have the same waitstaff so rarely wait more than 10 minutes for a table.
  18. I take a cooler with me if I want beer in the cabin. Have your cabin person keep it full of ice and you are good to go.
  19. That is exactly what I did when my mom/aunt went on a trip with a bunch of us. I did their check-in online for them and that made it easy for them.
  20. yes you can use the computers on the ship. You just log in under you username/password. Just make sure to log out when you are done.
  21. Royal did not cruise in this summer out of San Juan and are not cruising out of San Juan next summer either. I hope they start again, but as of now, nothing out of San Juan until late fall. Nov 6th is the earliest this fall and Nov 18, 2023 is the earliest on Voyager. May 30, 2023 is the last one out of San Juan next year until November.
  22. When you sign into the internet on the ship, you select Internet, then the basic internet for 24 hours. When you enter your name, room # and Bday it will deduct your free amount so you will pay nothing for the 24 hour period. It is pretty easy to do, just follow the prompts.
  23. My husband thinks the prime rib is really good in the MDR as well as the beef tenderloin. He thinks that is super tender.
  24. If going on Freedom, they never even look at your boarding time. You just go to the waiting lounge and as soon as boarding starts, they let you board by row until everyone is boarded.
