  1. Which cruiselines have had half price drinks during a happy hour since covid? I havent heard of any recently so I'd like to know which lines offer half price drinks?
  2. It can be very tricky to book. Seattle to seattle alaska then hawaii because it needs to leave from Vancouver or change ships. I've seen this before on the carnival boards too .. get a experienced pvp or ta to book it perhaps. Need to hit a foreign port so coming back to seattle and leaving from seattle is a problem all cruiselines. This was posted this morning .. but its true for carnival too.
  3. American unions want to protect union workers. It wouldnt be repealed. It's about union workers.
  4. If you heard that I'd say your cabin was also far forward. If your cabin was mid to aft you dont hear that sound. That's a sound of being far forward. Not just deck 2.
  5. I do b2bs and have seen key lunch in the Mdr on the opposite side at embarkation. Not in chops but they have a similar menu. I dont think this is new. Grandeur for instance key ate in Mdr for boarding lunch. Not sure about the fast lane. I have seen people mention the times are tight for the surf zone time is a set time and tight. People seemed to think its anytime they want idk .. i dont see the changes.
  6. I do a lot of b2b. No matter which line. Just because it's a 5 hour drive to Galveston and the gas and hotel, it's not worth driving down for 1 cruise, especially a short one. I did b2b on breeze just to make it worth driving down. 4/5. Both times went to cozumel. Miracle out of Galveston has some different itineraries I would love b2b. Not inexpensive but nice ports. If you can see my signature 80% of the time I book b2b. The feb 2 2025 is a group cruise on wonder, i normally wouldnt book, too new and expensive.. and utopia is coming in brand new next year doing 3/4 days. We decided to match it up as a s2s. There is one day between getting off wonder and getting on utopia so people will have to debark, get a hotel for 1 night, then get on the other new ship none of us know much about. ..side by side isnt my normal. Usually involves a hotel as most ports dont have 2 different ships boarding at the same port together, though some do. I prefer to keep the same cabin and not have to pack up. The best thing about b2b or b3b keep the same cabin, dont pack, briefly off and back on and allowed in your cabin when the rest cant.
  7. Which is why I said perks matter. Carnival prices dont change as you get to higher loyalty and my experience with carnival group prices is not the prices were good deals. I used to travel with a group who only did carnival. Then during covid I discovered rcl group prices. Not only cheaper to lots cheaper, the deposits are refundable. I wouldnt book so far out except every single rcl cruise my deposit is refundable. Plus with group rates I get my D+ and solo discounts. If you are just comparing booking directly this huge price difference isnt obvious. Wonder is ridiculously high $$ but the group rate was around $1k off the published rate. Plus I get more obc from rcl. My b2b on allure in sept is the last of the under $100 a day though .. I'm at $666 and $659 I think, allure, inside balcony, includes fees and taxes. I havent been able to book carnival under $100 a day total since pre covid. For comparison .. my b3b on harmony nov and dec 2024 in my signature around $850ish per week. About $400 less than jubilee in a inside, same port. If there is a way to get carnival for less than published I'd sure like to know it. Rcl lots of tas have access to these refundable group rates .. I cant find a way with carnival to bring down the published price. I keep hearing carnival is cheaper from folks just looking at prices on websites. What is the secret. Do people have TAs who have cheaper carnival prices? What is the secret to finding these lower carnival prices? I'm with the op and feel I'm subsidising the gamblers.
  8. I'm also not supposed to be in the sun. I went last march, first time since covid. I walked .. .and melted. There are small kinda of like trains or shuttles that take you around. I will for sure take one both ways next time. I walked and walked .. and walked some more. I wanted to try the free funnel cake and chicken sandwich. I asked 3 different rcl employees how to get to the free food. Each one wore a shirt saying ask me and each had to go ask someone else! Finally a crew member was like cut thru here off the path and walk straight thru to the beach area. ..and sure enough I found the free food. I sat at a picnic table was kinda shaded. Loved the funnel cake piping hot. Too much to finish and had a drink and a chicken sandwich. If you havent been i would explore. But take a shuttle train. It's a very large area to walk.
  9. I looked it on on voyager specifically and both inside and ov are 160 sf. Both have some larger configurations but the basic on both is 160 sf. I'd still rather a window than not.
  10. Lol I'd pick the window for $150 less. Its probably a bit bigger cabin and I like to see the weather when I wake up. For sure even if the same price I'd pick the window. The deck for me doesnt matter much, more walking is all.
  11. Discussing if you can bring a banned steamer onboard .. might as well start can we smuggle booze. Same thing, can we get by with smuggling banned items. I've done ncl and rcl but dont smuggle, so dont know if you would be luckier on rcl. I would imagine it has to do with the port more than the line. Port workers dont work for the line specifically that will be doing the screening.
  12. There are a couple of places, but try clicking on the little guy up in the corner. Select another cruise. All your cruises should be listed. ... click on the one you want.
  13. We could almost also do a thread big vs smaller ships. I'm a big ship fan. Though I loved radiance earlier this year. I booked it twice and 1st time was a no show (broke my wrist and my mom died) but went the 2nd time. Rcl radiance class are beautiful ships. When I cruised pre covid I didnt pay much attention to perks, but now I want to make pinnacle on rcl for the free wifi, though 6 free drinks, ck etc are attractive to me. When I compare to carnival I start to think I'm sure going to miss those 5 free drinks I now get a day and 2 days of wifi. I did 3 on carnival after restart. First 2 I had cheers included and just dont drink that much. Imo if carnival wants to charge so much to be fair carnival needs to up their perks. I was around 180 pts on carnival, 95 on rcl, 3 on ncl and 3 on princess, 1 celebrity. ..did the 3 on carnival. And was mad at myself because I paid regular pre covid prices, but rcl was offering double pts. I now would have pushed harder on the double pts on rcl. (And solo already gets a extra loyalty pt on rcl). Carnival used to but no longer treats solos well. I get it I'm not their target audience. I think perks are important. People who cruise carnival keep posting back to me perks dont matter to them. I will probably keep pushing points to hit pinnacle on rcl, then it doesnt matter once I hit the top tier. Already there with carnival.
  14. I booked grandeur last year for the pts to get the solo discount and wasnt that thrilled with grandeur, it is the smallest oldest ship in rcl fleet. But compared to paradise that's fair to compare. I've been saying the same thing, my TA has cheaper rcl group fares I get $250 off a balcony and then 25% overall. It doesnt make sense to pay more for carnival. I agree carnival prices are certainly high. Its nothing against carnival. Princess had 0 to 33% solo supplements out of Galveston last winter. Princess was the cheapest. Carnival is no longer the least expensive, its msc.
  15. Was it a casino rate .. not just a regular rate? There have been threads in the past casino rates were not getting the obc approved .. but for really cheap rates. I got my obc but it's a regular sale rate, not casino, just last week.
  16. How do you see this special? Thanks for the code. I wanted multiple excursions ..and pay restaurants. Where can I see if there is another special? Next time ..thanks.
  17. No each leg is treated separate. Cant merge a b2b and get the obc for 14 days. Too bad lol. I do lots of b2bs. I do have a 14 day journey cruise booked and got the $250 but it was a expensive cruise too.
  18. I think it's worth holding 100 shares of for the obc. I know I've gotten 8 x $100 in a year, so for me and probably others it's worth holding who cruise a lot. I've traded in and out and in and out twice since covid and made $$$ each time. I'm out right now betting for a lower entry and play it again sam! I'm with your thinking mostly. Got s little too high.
  19. I havent followed rcl as closely as carnival. I know carnival issued so many secondary shares they diluted shares almost double. So a share has to make double the profit to be worth the price. Of course neither rcl or ccl turn a profit. With the dilution of shares from issuing more shares, each share is worth less than before. I'm sure someone else follows rcl more closely and knows if they seriously diluted shares. Ccl seriously diluted shares with secondary after secondary. Its not just borrowing that made the stock worth less. Secondaries! I am bullish on rcl, just think the price got ahead of itself. We all value stocks differently. With prices so high it's got to help the stock value. Agree earnings will be interesting. FOMO, fear of missing out has taken over the stock market .. this could be a boring or not bullish summer. I also dont believe the market is taking Powell seriously enough. He would say rates higher for longer, and some dumb bank talking head says he predicts fed will cut rates this year or some nonsense. I'm in the camp inflation is sticky. More hikes ahead, not cuts. Room for bulls and bears here. 10 year treasury moved up today, people are starting to price in higher rates.
  20. Yes once you are diamond on rcl its elite I think on celebrity. Just status transfers, not pts. I'm D+ on rcl so I get bogo every cruise. It's very hard to compare apples to apples on dinner prices when you get bogo. Carnival still has surf and turf in their steak restaurant which I always order. Rcl only has lobste in their steak restaurant at a upcharge for 1.5 lbs maine lobster. Too big. Carnivals is just right for me. I've got quite a bit obc for my 14 day dream so I can dream a bit and plan some extras. New ports and excursions too. That obc woukdnt go that far. Carnival gives one free restaurant at diamond .. they could make a killing doing what rcl does with the bogo every cruise so i have to pay for one to get the free one. No dining pkg on dream.
  21. There really isnt a size limitation for carry on bags. I've seen a few wrestling full sized bags they have to pick up and put on the conveyor. If you can easily handle I'd say ok. 5 bags juggling and holding up the line I'm not a fan of but I've seen some bigger bags than what you are describing.
  22. If I'd been extra smart I would have sold short. Not just sold my few shares. No way this stock was worth over $100 a share. Earnings will have to be blow out. I do think rcl is pushing the pricing button harder and harder. So earnings will be good but not good enough for the $100 valuation. I hardly think to sell short even when it's obvious a stock is about to sell off.
  23. Of course ..though the discount needs to match the one day charge. Check the charge is 0 and buy the day whenever you want and either can use.
  24. I'm using a well known TA who posts here, just saying he is not a newbie. If he couldn't tell from the billing and codes, I wouldnt know. Surprised us both when I got assigned a studio. This was on radiance. So it was a very small studio and I'd just broken my arm and was propping it up at night. I was iffy about going one armed so just no showed .. but I think they are wrong. TA tried to argue the cause but it didnt fly. He it been a 2w studio or whatever the category is we both would have known, this was just listed as a inside gty. Same code as any other inside gty. There wasnt anything obvious except I knew it was very unusual a solo was offered a gty .. in my mind rcl owes me one now. If my very smart ta didnt see anything unusual about the gty except a solo could book a gty .. it wasnt obvious. They seem to only care about money but at least it will help stock holders.
