Halloween - DD has a meet up in the city every year with friends who fly in from interstate for the weekend.
Her costume this year is Guy Fieri. She chose him because he signed her cowboy hat at Stage Coach a couple of years back.

When I lived in Australia no one celebrated Halloween and they had only seen it on tv. My mom, in the US, sent boxes filled with a lot of decorations and candy. There were all different candies but I only remember candy corn and root beer. My host family had a party and gave the candy to all of the neighbors so the kids could trick or treat.

just heard from our genie that star class wow bands aren't available on quantum for the upcoming alaska cruise.  That really is a bummer as we really love the band so we don't have to carry our sail pass card.  If we have star class wow bands from a previous cruise a few months ago can we use them?  anyone tried this?

We tried to have ours reprogrammed last February and it did not work.

    Thank you for explaining.

Both Jack and I grew up with no AC.  Me, in NY, he in Israel.  Our 1st apt., thankfully had ac.  We bought my parents an ac window unit which I suspect was hardly used.  They said it was too cold!

I had a weird experience at the Kroger deli counter.  This could almost have happened to Sue

@LionesssI know she could tell it better:

Me:  Can I please have 1/2 pound Boar's Head Genoa salami sliced thin?

DL (deli lady): Did not respond and seemed to not understand.

Me: I repeated, spoke louder and slower

DL: No response but took out the roast beef.

Me: No that's not salami as I commenced to point to it in the showcase.

DL:  No response but took out different roast beef

Me: Can you please come around to my side so I can show you the salami I want?

DL: No response and took out garlic baloney

Me: Jack come here and help us please?  Leave it to a guy with an Israeli accent to get through to her.

Me:   Now I'll have 1/2 pound of lemon pepper turkey

DL:  Finally got it right after 2 failed attempts taking out other deli meat

Me: (after I had everything in my cart) Excuse me, can I have 1/3 pound of the lemon pepper turkey you just gave me

    DL; We don't have that

Me: You just cut 1/2 pound.  I picked up the pkg from my cart and showed it to her.

DL: She just shrugged her shoulders

Me: Have a nice day, walking away in disbelief.

If this was 50 years ago, I bet I would have been on Candid Camera.

We were in a rush to get home. Should I have reported her? I feel the store was at fault, not her personally or maybe I have a soft heart🤨

This was my conversation while putting my groceries in the car

Homeless man: Do you have any cash?

    Me: I'm sorry, I don't

HM: Can you drive me to Burger King?

Me: No, but you are more than welcome to take something out of my bags

    HM: I WANT BURGER KING!

    Me: Sorry

HM: F*** you, as he walks away.

Okay, I'm whiney. LOL. :classic_biggrin: And we have some familiarity with wildfires. We don't have air conditioning, usually we have fog. :classic_biggrin:

When we move from FL to CA in the 80's we rented a townhouse. A heatwave came through and I turned on the AC and nothing happened. It was broken. I called the landlord only to be told we didn't have AC. We never thought to ask about it.

    Not in the plans,

That house is 2 miles from where we currently live, and I drive by it on my way to the grocery store.

    So far:

Amish have re done the roof.  (It was only 5 years old and actually in good condition),  but a different type of shingle.

Ripped out all the over grown landscaping.

Preparing to put new Vinyl siding on the house.

Demolished a left over RV  (Made the one in Christmas vacation look like a mansion).

    New mulch delivered.

Yup were creepers, not stopping by just checking it out as we drive by.

So far, waiting on the out garage that collapsed in a snow storm to be removed.

    Take care

I'll admit that I'm a creeper. Our daughter lives in the town that I grew up in and on one of our visits we drove by my childhood home. Construction was happening so I jumped out of the car to see what was going on. Flippers had just bought it and were happy to show me. My parents sold it in 1980 and the buyers had just died. Nothing had been updated in 40 years. It brought back a lot of memories seeing the avocado green kitchen and the fuzzy wallpaper in my parents bathroom. I took a piece off the wall. It was sold and turned into an Airbnb. 2000 sq ft, 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom that sleeps 16.

Nice review, after we have the cruise we have booked now with Royal. Our next cruise after that will surely be on Virgin Voyages. It's time for a change from Royal.

Any Food pics and the hammock on the balcony, what category cabin did you have?

My daughter napping in the hammock on VV

Sorry, no pics. I had a central sea terrace on deck 12.

  8. It's taken me a few days to catch up after my cruise. My daughters and I sailed on VV Scarlett Lady and had a great time. I went with an open mind and was very pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing, loved the entertainment and there was enough that we were never bored. Missed some things because they were at the same time and choices had to be made.

We don't cruise in the summer because of the crowds, kids and heat. Bimini was beautiful but so hot. I do love kids, I have 3 and we always cruised with them, but the entire atmosphere changes when there are none on the ship.

I can't compare or complain about the cabin as we cruise  RC in suites and on Virgin I had a balcony to myself. Plenty of storage, but the bathroom is small. They took up most of the space with a nice size shower with rain head shower.

I have two favorites, with the first being the crew. They seem to love their job and being able to be themselves. Lots of colorful hair, tattoos, piercings and a few speedos and thongs.

As simple as it sounds my absolute favorite was the hammock on the balcony! It was hot but I took my fan out and was able to nap.

I did book another cruise while onboard.

Our bundle of joy will be officially adopted Tuesday at 3:00pm.

Then in our home shortly after.

We were on the go all weekend, and would not have been home and we did not think that would be fair to her, if we brought her home Saturday. And it was easy to schedule her adoption for Tuesday.

We did do our Pets Mart run Saturday and just got done getting her room ready, kitty proof and all.

But if you want a sneak peek at her she is the busy one.

    Kitten webcam below.

There were 3 busy ones when I watched. So they must leave as a team! Enjoy your new trio!

  10. I'm back from my cruise on Scarlett Lady. The previous few posts and reviews could have been written by me as they were very close to my experience. I went in with an open mind and had a fantastic time and booked another cruise while onboard.

I can't compare the stateroom as we cruise in suites on RC and on Virgin I was solo in a spacious sea terrace. The room was definitely large enough and had enough storage. Closet space was ample, along with 4 drawers, a few shelves, storage baskets and plenty of hanging space. A few hooks on the wall, cubbies space in the desk, cold refrigerator , carafes of still and sparkling water filled twice daily. Two very big drawers under the bed too. My daughters shared the exact room, with one bringing 14 pairs of shoes and they were ok. The bathroom was a little small but the shower was amazing. Great water pressure. My favorite was the hammock. All of my downtime was spent there!

The food was outstanding. From the restaurants, to the Galley, Pizza Place, and  ice cream. I'll admit I didn't like the Big green machine flavored ice cream but did love the brown butter. If that's my only dislike about the food that's a win. Others love it.

Entertainment and activities were always happening, We always found something to do if we chose to. Duel Reality is a must. It is all listed in the app and if you choose not to carry your phone they have printed daily list of activities along with giant touch screens that show you the times and place for the activities. We missed some because multiple things we planned at the same times and we had to make choices.

I don't know how but we were invited to 3 "special, private" events that were fun. Can't say enough for the Happenings Crew.

The crew really makes your cruise unique and fun. You can tell they are having fun, really love their jobs and want you to have fun. If you want quiet and alone time they can tell and give you your privacy. If you want to engage in conversation they are very friendly. Was told by one crew member that they are allowed to be themselves which makes them happy.

Kids have never bothered me on other cruises, we took ours on plenty, but the entire atmosphere of no kids is very noticeable and extremely nice.

As we were leaving breakfast yesterday we were asked if we had a good time. I was honest and said we had cruised a lot on RC and loved it and will continue to do so but Virgin exceed all expectations.

Some of the things that we pay for when cruising Star Class on RC are included in Virgins price for everyone. Free WiFi , specialty dining, soft drinks, big selection in in room movies.

I wasn't sold on Virgin when I first saw the commercials and reviews but I'm so happy that I took the chance and tried something new. And the demographics of the sailors is very wide and diverse. I turned 60 on the cruise and my daughters are 28. We all had a great time.

Hello - sorry about the private show debacle. Can you offer any advice/tips to try and get invited or is it sheer luck? What exactly is the "private show?" My wife and I are sailing Scarlet in November for first time and like to party and have fun so probably in line with you and your wife. Thanks for any tips.

Just got off today and got 3 invites to "private" events.  The first time we were given cards that told us where and when to meet. The second time was at Scarlett night and someone from the happenings team remembered us and just told us to follow them. The third time we asked about the event and were told it was basically the same as the first one so only one person in our group went. I have no idea why we were invited other than being in the right place at the right time.
