  1. We are using this company mid January. There are a large group from our cruise that booked it. I will be sure to let you know how it was when we get back. I've been to Jost Van Dyke and it is a lot of fun.
  2. I just received an invoice from my TA and it accounted for included gratuities. I was only charged the upgraded amount.
  3. That seems to be the answer so far. I would/will bring my original booking with grats included. Since I did move to a suite from an IV, I will be responsible for the difference in tips.
  4. About a month out. I believe it varies. I was surprised to get it so soon out. I put in a low bid (50$s over minimum pp), so was surprised to get it at all.
  5. I booked an IV on the Ascent with All Included before Celebrity dropped gratuities. I was just awarded a move up to a sky suite. I know I will have to pay the difference, but will I lose the included gratuities all together under the new policy? TIA
  6. Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites is closer to the cruise port than Hyatt. Hampton Inn is a very short walk, but Hyatt is also walkable. You would want to taxi, ride share or take the Silverline to either hotel from South Station. I've never taken the Silverline down to that area, but I know it goes there and is easy to navigate. Once there pretty much anything in the Seaport/Fort Point area is walkable. If you don't make the Arboretum, the Rose Kennedy Greenway is a lovely walk. If you're up for a bit of a walk, you can walk the Greenway all the way to the No. End. On the way back you could walk along the Harborwalk which will take you along the water. If it becomes too much walking, you can always order a car share. In July there will be lots of activities on both the Greenway and Harborwalk. When you get closer to your trip, I'm happy to recommend some places to eat, shop, visit, just reach out again.
  7. I would stick to the Copley, Quincy Market, Seaport area. I really enjoy the Seaport (so much so I live there). It is very walkable and you're close to South Station. There is a Residence Inn on Congress St. I have never stayed there, but it looks nice. Since you're going to be staying a long time, it would be nice to have a kitchen and there is a Trader Joe's and a CVS right there. It is walkable to South Boston (check out Castle Island), North End, Chinatown, Financial District. If you don't mind a longer walk, we walk to Fenway too. Tons of restaurants, bakeries, and shopping. Foliage depends on summer weather, so there may or may not be any. Arnold Arboretum is a wonderful day trip to take in some foliage.
  8. Boston has strict rules regarding short term rentals, so you won't find many. It's an easy city to get around by any means other than a car. My answers for location would depend on month you're visiting and what you're most interested in seeing.
  9. I'd agree. Especially if there is more than one ship in.
  10. It certainly has it's issues. I use the subway a few times a week, various lines, various times and haven't had any issues. More often than not, it works fine.
  11. I feel that they are changing the face rates as well. Prices continue to rise as services continue to fall.
  12. So many people don't know how easy it is. The Silverline also has places for luggage storage.
  13. For downtown/seaport hotels you'll pay $500++. Crazy if you're just resting your head. I'd look south of the city (Braintree, Quincy, Dedham). I think south is better than north based on where the port is. If you stay north of the city, you have to come through the heart city to get to the port. There is typically more traffic that way.
  14. Good for you and your hustle. While it's not the easiest public transportation to haul luggage on, I see it all the time. Trust me, you see a lot of strange things on the T, but people with luggage isn't one of them. Glad you enjoyed your stay.
  15. Some do, so you should request a brand. I watched a bartender pour Tito's into a Grey Goose bottle once on a Celebrity ship, so even requesting you never know.
  16. It would have to fit through the security screening machines. They are similar to the ones you would find at an airport. Large luggage will not fit through.
  17. If you're able to walk and it's a nice day, I would walk to and from the No. End. You can walk along The Harborwalk there and The Greenway back. Very easy, safe walk and a beautiful area to take in.
  18. They can put whatever they want in a contract, but it can't break consumer laws. Not sure it does, but I wonder if AGs or credit card companies would be interested in this practice.
  19. Send back that you will be deducting 200$ from your final payment. Make sure to add "I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or discomfort this might cause you".
  20. Did anyone try the specialty restaurants? Hopefully they are better.
  21. "Rest assured" cracks me up. This is still listed as the first line in Celebrity's Code of Conduct statement. "For the comfort and enjoyment of our guests, our Celebrity ships are non-smoking. Hookahs and other types of water pipes are prohibited from use under this non-smoking designation."
  22. That whole area is an easy to walk. If the weather is nice and you are able, it's probably your best bet. Not sure where the shuttle drops off, but the loop can be bogged down with traffic. If walking isn't an option for the whole group, I suggest dropping group and luggage and have one person take the car to park. That person can shuttle or walk back and meet up with the group. Just make sure the person parking the car has their own paperwork incase you're separated at some point.
