I was referring to another poster who is saying there are "loads" of cases on all the Alaska sailings so far this season and it just is not the case. Quantum had cases on both the May 9th and May 16th sailings. I was one of the covid cases on the May 16th sailing. Many did not report on the ship and that is not helping to control the cases. I am sorry you misunderstood my post. As someone who is sailing soon, I think it is absolutely appropriate to try to find out what is going on. I know I did not see the level of cleaning that I would have expected happening on Quantum. They are fogging overnight, but I would have expected constant wiping of surfaces as I have seen on other ships in the past and that was not the case on Quantum. It is a beautiful ship and Alaska was gorgeous but I know I would be wearing a KN95 if I were to sail that ship in the near future.

Very interesting. My driver's license also had only my middle initial and my passport has my full middle name. The woman at AAA told me my license would have my full middle name from now on and accepted all the documents I had with me. I went in March of this year, maybe AAA had gotten the word out by then. I was just going to get a non compliant license if I had issues with the documents I had with me too. I had brought extras too, just incase something was rejected. My son had issues when he went for his but it was because the passport system was down and they couldn't read the barcode. He had to come home for an alternate document. Too bad he didn't listen to his mother and bring extra. 😱

There are four Royal Caribbean ships sailing in Alaska right now. Yes, there have been lots of cases of covid on Quantum so far this season, where are all the reports from the other ships?

Correct, as of now. My Mom needed to renew her license and we have decided, due to age and health, dragging her to the DMV for a REAL ID really isn't worth it. I renewed her license online over the weekend, opting for a non compliant license. She has a passport that expires in eight years, so that will be enough for her to fly, if that ever happens again.

My DH got doubles in the suite lounge on Quantum a few weeks ago. In contrast, we only went in diamond lounge once and his double there cost him two vouchers.

What ship had a half hour wait for a drink in the suite lounge?

I have never seen anyone limited in the suite lounge. We usually take a glass of wine with us to dinner but have never left with four drinks.

Same with me in MA. I also went to the local AAA office and was in and out in no time. They send you a list of the exact documents that are accepted, was very simple. Real ID arrived within a few weeks.

They will treat you for free for covid, norovirus and influenza in our experience. Not sure if they always treat for free for influenza but they did on Anthem when there was an outbreak and the Captain had announced that people with symptoms could be seen for free.

According to their brochure, Quantum and Radiance class ships have automatic doors. Lesson learned, do not search for something at 2am and always read the information at a .GOV site versus any other article that might pop up. The RCG staff was correct in denying your REAL ID.

Your state is not saying it has an enhanced driver's license just because a Google search is taking you to information for REAL ID when you search for enhanced driver's license. You misunderstood what an enhanced driver's license actually is and luckily, you had brought your passport with you so that you could cruise.

It does not say anything about it being valid for a cruise. It does not imply that it is an alternative to a passport either, you are reading more into it than is there.

You can not buy a bottle of liquor from the store on the ship and bring it back to your cabin. Any alcohol purchased from the store is delivered to your cabin the last night of the cruise. There are bottles that you can buy precruise from gifts and gear but they are only 375ml at a ridiculously high price.

Wonder force tested passengers? I tested myself on Quantum because I was really sick and then went to medical. I could have easily continued to interact with those on the ship as many of the others on my rollcall did, but I chose to go to medical. Tell us more about the testing on Wonder.

I agree that we all will get it or have had it. My Mom is just feeding off my sister's paranoia over Covid. It also didn't help that my son, my DH, Me, one of my brothers, my niece and my niece's other grandmother all had covid at the same time. Granted, there were four different states involved in all these cases, but my Mom just sees it as a huge outbreak. 😱

It is definitely the norm if you are injured on an excursion or on the ship.

I am happy they took such good care of you and that you are healing. I have had positive interactions with the medical department on ships in the past and wouldn't hesitate to be seen again, even after the overwhelmed and unorganized medical department I just experienced on Quantum. We have also received free care on more than one ship.

That's too bad, Ellen. I hope she comes to her senses soon. My Mom wasn't going to let me come see her, even though I am now testing negative, because my DH is still testing positive and is at day 7. We are still wearing KN95 masks in my house and are distancing but she was nervous. She finally relented and I saw her for the first time in more than three weeks! I stayed masked and distanced, windows were open, ceiling fan on and her air purifier was on, so she should be good. If she ends up sick, I am sure I will be blamed even though she was at the doctors office, lab and grocery store this week. 🙂
