  1. They were referring to flights within the us. Most airlines have you attest that you do not have covid symptoms and that you are not required to isolate per CDC protocols. It is up to passengers to do the right thing and isolate for five days as the CDC protocols require, but very few people are doing it. People are lying and flying home thus infecting even more people.
  2. We sailed in a sky suite on the May 16th Quantum sailing. We ate all but one meal in Coastal Kitchen. Service was very good and we had no issues getting a table for the times we wanted for the entire week. Food was inconsistent but mostly good. They were definitely substituting items and many times things were very different from the menus. Fish was not great and we sent back two meals because it was slimy. The seared rib eye on the menu was really a prime rib. We were told that it would be a prime rib, the people beside us were not told and weren't happy. Potatoes were under cooked on most entrees. Filet mignon the first night was perfect, as were the sides. Mozzarella sticks for one lunch were actually sharp cheddar sticks. Caprese salad was not buffalo mozzarella as described, it was the leftover burrata from the day before entrée. Caprese also came out covered in avocado, with arugula instead of basil. Breakfasts were good. Suite concierge is KK who is excellent. Only full suite passengers and pinnacles allowed in suite lounge at this point. No issues getting a seat and waiters were mostly good. KK kept an eye on everything and went looking for servers if they weren't around. Apps were typical of what we have had in the past. We only went to the diamond lounge once and server was very efficient. Apps looked like what is usually available. We had no interaction with the diamond concierge.
  3. Ice is not an extra request, it is something the cabin stewards ask about the first time you meet them. Why would anyone think they are doing anything for free? They are being paid by the cruise line and they are also receiving gratuities. If tipping up front makes you feel comfortable, have at it, I will tip at the end of the cruise, after the service has been provided. We also tip at the end of the cruise. We never prepay our gratuities, we have the prepaid gratuities hit our account everyday. We also will give an envelope to our cabin steward at the end of the cruise when we thank them. We never just leave it in the cabin or give it to guest services, we always give it to them directly.
  4. One saving grace is the sofabed on Symphony should be the kind that is more like a trundle and you can have the bed made up at two different heights to give each of them a defined space.
  5. Read my post again. I am aware that you can buy small bottles from gift and gear, I said you can not by a bottle at a bar as someone claims.
  6. It will also ask where you will quarantine, we put Quantum OTS on one part and our cabin number on another line. I forget the exact order and question but you will see as you fill it out.
  7. Discretionary/optional travel is what you should choose. You are a foreign national if you are from the states and are entering Canada. 🙂
  8. I never give my cabin steward a $20 on day one and ask politely for ice daily...works.
  9. Thanks, I haven't sailed them before so don't know their towels. 🙂 I think the person who says you can buy a bottle at a bar and bring it back to your cabin is talking about a different cruise line too, because that is not something you can do on Royal Caribbean.
  10. Verify that the crown and anchor numbers are correct on the booking. We just had this happen on our recent Quantum cruise. My setsail had our correct C&A status but my DH was showing as a newbie. Come to find out, the C&A number my DH has been using for years is not correct and his C&A number had been adjusted in his account but not our booking. Supposedly there has been an audit recently of C&A numbers. Once we updated the booking, both setsail passes had our correct status, as well as our luggage tags.
  11. What cruise line? I can't tell from the luggage tag but it definitely is not a Royal Caribbean luggage tag.
  12. Part of the reason for the additional envelopes is for tips for people that aren't included in the prepaid gratuities, like the suite or diamond concierge. They have been leaving the envelopes for years, it is nothing new, if you don't want to use them, leave them or just throw them out.
  13. Normally, they will have you order the night before so you do not have to wait. That is what they do for those with dietary restrictions.
  14. It would be a toss up for me whether I would book a suite guarantee this far out. Since it is a 14 day cruise, that makes the $1,200 difference not that bad but ship would make a huge difference. Looking at your posts, you are talking Serenade, which getting a JS really only gives you a larger cabin and double points. I would likely only consider it if the additional points moved me to a different level in C&A. Decisions, decisions. I think I would pass. 🙂
  15. There is no way of knowing what you will get with a suite guarantee. You will most likely get a JS and someone in a JS will end up with the other cabins through Royal Up. We have done suite guarantees many times and have gotten a JS every time except once. That time we ended up with a two bedroom grand suite! Good luck!
  16. There is not random testing throughout the cruise. Non vaccinated kids are being tested prior to the cruise and at the end of the cruise but only other testing I am aware of are of those who go to medical. Not everyone goes to medical with a cough or a sniffle. I went because of a high fever and other concerning issues. I went because I knew I couldn't fly home in the condition I was in and because of current CDC and airline protocols. By going to medical, I do not have to pay for all of my expenses that I incurred while I was isolating. I went to medical because it was the right thing to do.
  17. The cruise line gives you $250/day for hotel and $100/day for food. Why are they out thousands?
  18. It is really weird. When it happened before, I started tasting salt first when my taste started coming back. You notice textures of food more because that is the only thing that is different when you eat.
  19. I have lost my sense of smell and taste and it is not fun. I can taste grease, pizza just tasted like burnt grease, donut tasted like grease, most everything else just pretty much nothing. I can smell orange but not really anything else. I did a bleach load of laundry today and couldn't even smell that. I lost my sense of smell and taste in the past after an allergic reaction to a medication, it didn't get it back for almost a month. I am hoping this comes back quicker.
  20. I was also quarantined in Seattle the week before and the cruise line was not good about giving me information before I left the ship. We were able to get documentation with the help of the suite concierge. She is entitled to $250/day towards hotel and $100/day for food. You submit receipts to the cruise line for reimbursement.
  21. People aren't reporting symptoms and isolating though, which is leading to a lot of the issues. Very, very few of the people that have tested positive on my recent sailing actually followed cruise line and CDC policy. Many flew home and then tested once they got home so they didn't get stuck in the port city in isolation. These people are infecting the crew who are then infecting the next sailings passengers. People need to use common sense and act responsibly.
  22. I really didn't give the infectious disease officer the chance to tell me I was moving. I told him I was staying. 😁
  23. I was allowed to stay in my cabin when I tested positive. My DH was testing negative and was given a balcony cabin. I was told my cabin was concerned a "sick room" and I didn't have to move.
