  1. Can I send a bag of “press only” to use as my free bag of laundry, or must it be the “laundry” option? Thanks.
  2. We had them in our cabin the whole week in September (Moselle) Avalon Imagery ll.
  3. It’s great. I’ve stayed there three times. Check out the Dania Pointe website: https://www.daniapointe.com
  4. I’d forget the train, too. Way too long a trip for active 13 year olds In Skagway, Ocean Raft. https://www.oceanraftalaska.com in Sitka, Raptor Center. https://alaskaraptor.org Juneau- either kayak https://beyondak.com/trips/auke-bay-alaska-guided-kayak-tour/. Or whale watch https://www.juneauwhalewatch.com Victoria - whale watch PrinceofWhales.com or just walk around the harbor. Loads of neat stores for last minute souvenirs downtown.
  5. Thank-you. The Madison looks amazing, and the price is right ( I’d like to stay around $500/ night) but I need a twin bed room or two queens. Hopefully one without the trendy transparent bathrooms.
  6. Yes, we decided to go independently. They really weren’t offering much more than the hotel room. Can I ask where you stayed?
  7. If you can fit their tours into the time you have in Juneau, we have used this company for hiking and kayaking. https://beyondak.com
  8. In case anyone else is looking or the same information, “If you wanted to book prenights in Paris through Avalon, the cost is $239 per person per night. It includes daily breakfast and a transfer to the ship for embarkation. Transfers to the hotel would be $55 per person. Excursions are not included nor offered. You would be on your own.”
  9. I haven’t booked the extra days yet, so my documents only show the cruise itinerary. Some cruises have a pre-cruise extension included, but in my case, the web site allows me to choose one or two days in Paris to add to the two week cruise. There is no description other than a hotel, but perhaps that’s all that is included.
  10. Nieuw Statendam bread pudding gets my vote, too.
  11. Can anyone tell me what is included in the two day pre-cruise extension for Grand France cruise in Paris with Avalon? Transfers, hotel, meals, excursions? Thanks
  12. Two nights before I left the cruise, my cabin steward came in and asked to see the dates on the bottom of the Coke cans in the fridge. He said that one was too old, and took it away. I thought nothing of it, but a couple days after I was charged the invoice amount, along comes another $6 charge from Celebrity. I’ve been wracking my brain trying to figure out what that charge would be, but the only thing I can come up with is that “old” Coke can.
  13. Just got off the Eclipse last week. I upgraded to premium before the cruise started and had zero issues on my iPad and iPhone. I left the WiFi on 24/7 and was able to stream Amazon Prime movies and access the web and emails.
  14. We stayed there last year. It was probably one of the worst hotel experiences ever. Bathroom was dirty, air conditioner was loud and not able to be adjusted according to front desk. It was so cold we put bath towels over the vents and still froze. Out of control kids after midnight. When I inquired about the free breakfast with my Hilton Honors status, the manager told me I was not entitled as we booked with points. What?! He then looked up my information and begrudgingly gave us the free breakfast with my Hilton Diamond status. No apologies. At breakfast, we waited 45 minutes in line for a table (buffet itself was very nice.) Do yourself a favor and book either of the two Marriott properties a couple blocks up the street.
  15. Some excursions are set up to let you return to the boat if you don’t want to continue with a walk, but I know that you are not allowed to just walk around on your own. The zodiac groups are very small. I can tell you that they were more than willing to accommodate my daughter’s vegan and vegetarian requests - egg free noodles, vegan pancakes, etc
  16. I was on the Flora, 10 day inner loop, in January. I can honestly say that I would not have changed one thing from the suites (we had a regular balcony, cabin 515), to the food, the staff, naturalists, and the way that Celebrity took care of us from the minute we landed at Quito. Everthing was included, even nice backpacks and sun tan lotion. Excursions were explained the night prior and ran like clockwork. The ship was very stable, and I had no trouble with seasickness. I would love to go back and do the outer loop on Flora.
  17. Uber Black is expensive, but they will pick you up at the curb and will help with luggage.
  18. I am older, widowed, and travel solo a lot. I have found that for Seattle, I stay at the Sheraton or Hilton and book tours. I feel a lot safer traveling with a group. I was scared to death on my last trip with a homeless or whatever screaming in my ear for two blocks even following me across the street. Viator has quite a few tours that have hotel pickup or use a quick Uber ride to pickup point. These are tour companies I have used a couple times and would recommend. https://www.shuttertours.com https://www.tripadvisor.com/AttractionProductReview-g60878-d11451466-Mt_Rainier_Day_Tour_from_Seattle-Seattle_Washington.html If I have only a day pre-cruise, I stay at Cedarbrook Lodge near the airport. Really nice accommodations, peaceful, and great food. https://www.cedarbrooklodge.com
  19. Arrived at San Pedro at 11:10 on Sunday. Dropped off luggage and we were on the ship in less than 10 minutes. No lines at all. My room was ready.
  20. Just to give you some ball park numbers for transportation, last Thursday I took Lyft from LAXIT lot at Terminal 7 to Hampton Inn in Santa Monica and paid $26.91 plus tip. My sister and her friend reserved an Uber Black curb pickup from Terminal 3 and paid $85.71 plus tip. The trip from Santa Monica to San Pedro with three of us in Lyft XL was $82.61 plus tip. Hope this helps.
  21. Update - My sister and her friend arrived today at Terminal 3 and ordered an Uber Black SUV when they landed. They only waited three minutes and had help with their luggage. Very happy with the service.
  22. I’m sorry you lost your Schnitzel. I had a black and tan “Heidi” for almost 18 years. They are just the best dogs ever. Schnitzel decided he couldn’t wait to open his Chewy box.
  23. We had some terrific deep dish pizza at Mean Queen not too far from the Visitor Center. The girl at the Visitor Center recommended. https://www.meanqueensitka.com
  24. I think the “Alyeska” hotel you mentioned is probably the Mt. Alyeska Lodge located in Girdwood, about 45 minutes south of Anchorage. I have stayed there several times on our DIY land tours of the Kenai. Highly recommend. Prices are high, but no worse than some of the Anchorage hotels ( look for AARP and AAA discounts.) and in a much, much nicer location. https://www.alyeskaresort.com/?_gl=1*176cpwg*_gcl_au*MjA2MTM1NTc4Mi4xNjk1NzMzNDQw https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g31000-d73070-Reviews-Alyeska_Resort-Girdwood_Anchorage_Alaska.html
