  1. If you register the birthday on your account as celebrating a special occasion, when you get on the ship and walk by the interactive screens, the medallion will recognize you and a cake and confetti will appear on the screen. It’s actually pretty cool.
  2. Just got back from my cruise and we had unusually warm weather. It was t-shirts and shorts the entire time. Cruising through Glacier bay, people were in the pool. The only actual cooler day was sailing into Victoria, but even then, it wasn't super cold. Just be prepared for anything.
  3. On the Encore last week, they only had four showings of Choir of Man. No other production shows at all. It was comedians in the Social,a magician in the theater and then trivia, deal or no deal type entertainment in the atrium.
  4. I disembarked the Encore this morning. Overall, the staff were very unhappy, and some were downright rude. The food wasn’t that great in my opinion buts that’s so subjective. I don’t understand why they hold most of the activities in the Atrium when it’s clearly not adequate space for so many that show up. Every day they’d pull out the folding chairs. I could go on but I always think everyone should try a new line to them and decide for themselves. You’ll never know unless you try it.
  5. I agree about not being completely loyal to one line. I just got off the Encore 7 night Alaska and never again for me on NCL. So looking forward to being on Carnival again in October then Princess early next year.
  6. I guess I’m lucky, I board on Sunday and today was the first one I got. I’m expecting many more though based others experiences. 🤣
  7. So annoying! I actually have a couple of coworkers that refuse to cruise because of hearing about how people just "fall off".
  8. Not NCL but my first solo cruise last November on Princess, at my dining table every night people from other tables asked if I wanted to join them and gave me a funny look when I politely declined and said I was fine. It's weird how people feel sorry for people that travel alone. That solo cruise was one of my absolute favorites and will be going again in October, I can't wait.
  9. There is no one at the entrance checking. I'm sure if they are respectful, no one will care or notice. It wouldn't just be the staff questioning it but other passengers using the area.
  10. That's some great logic there. Stiff the hardworking crew that make your cruise great even though they have nothing to do with Carnival's promotion policy. Then share a package not meant to be shared because you didn't get the same offer as your friends. By the way, if your friends are caught giving you drinks, they revoke the package and charge for all the drinks consumed up until that point. Just move on.
  11. The wine has to be in your carry-on, not in the checked luggage, correct? TIA!
  12. I agree but cheaters are at every trivia game on every ship and every cruise line. I just play for fun and to see how many I can get right, I don't even think about trying to win anything because I know the cheaters are in the back googling away.
  13. I've done 9 Thanksgiving cruises with the majority on the Spirit which is a sister to the Pride and they've all been so much fun. The Spirit class ships are my favorite and I'm so glad I have sailed all four of them. Have a great cruise!
  14. The information is on the Carnival website. The special needs department # is 1-800-438-6744.
  15. If there is a fire onboard, door decorations are the least of their concerns. So smoking is allowed in certain areas which can absolutely start a fire, but they ban door decorations because they are a fire hazard. That makes perfect sense.(insert eye roll).
  16. Oh please! Like it's really gonna be the door decorations that is the thing to cause the ship to sink if there's a fire on board.
  17. I saw them on all three of my cruises last April, September & November. So fun to see them piled so high!
  18. That's the order in how I was planning on doing it. I just didn't know if they ushered you off to do muster as soon as you step on the ship. Thank you Bird!
  19. Thank you! We wouldn't forget to do it, we just want to get our reservations set. I suppose it will depend on where our muster is in relation to where we secure our reservations. I'm gonna try not to stress about it.
  20. Makes sense. thank you! We are just really wanting to get reservations for Choir of Man, the Karts, and the canvas painting.
  21. Will be boarding the Encore in a few weeks. When we get on the ship, do we have to do muster before anything else or can we make our reservations and then get muster done? TIA!
  22. Not sure why you quoted me. I was responding to @Expat Cruise statement that closed loop cruises never require a passport. Which is false as in your example as well as many others listed on this thread.
  23. This is simply not correct. There are exceptions. I was taking my DD and her friend on a Princess California Coastal cruise, even though you can board with just a BC & DL/ID on this itinerary, there was a requirement that all of us must have a passport, which we all did .I believe that was due to the fact that I was the only adult sailing. You shouldn't make blanket statements when that's not the case.
  24. Thanks for posting this. I was just thinking about him the other day and was hoping he would be on my Encore cruise next month. I was lucky enough to sail with him twice before. Such a nice and funny man.
