  1. But it will all be fine next month. We hope.
  2. In a Q2? That would be shocking. I must say I think they are the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in, once I’ve got them to take the overhot duvet away and bring a blanket.
  3. This is the first comment I have ever read which is not impressed by Cunard’s proper beds, which I believe are purchasable, as with Celebrity. Not in the least surprised about the sofabed. I don’t find the sofas that comfortable even to sit on. Anyway, my commiserations to you both .
  4. Yes, 26 nights seems quite long to me, and not just because of the restaurant. The other fun thing about the QG is the flambé dishes, which are as much a spectator sport as a gastronomic experience. And there’s always room service or the buffet if you want less dressing up.
  5. Well, there are advantages to the same restaurant. You get the same lovely staff, who cherish you and know your preferences, you get to know the fellow passengers nearby who are often (not always) fun too chat to. You don’t have to book or wait for a time. And the ambience is quite a lot different on Gala nights from on informal nights, and obviously from lunch time.
  6. I love that the play off between two US leagues is called the World Series.
  7. QM2 QG wasn’t at all stuffy in July, though, alas, as it turned out, rather snuffly. 😀
  8. Thanks. I thought it might not fit with comparisons of the top suites. So I shall wait with bated breath. 😀
  9. You don’t have to drink cheap wine. I’ve had some very nice gins and tonics, and my only rum punch ever, which I much enjoyed.
  10. One thing I would like to ask, though it is not really relevant to the top suites, where you can make you won peace. But one of the things I most enjoy about Cunard ships is the feeling of quiet, calm, and serenity. How does this compare with Celebrity?
  11. Certainly, where I live there, are no regulations, but nobody would think of using any colour other than white for painting the pebbledash on their house.
  12. Max of $400 pl in QG on a cruise of more than 10 days, down to $100 for Oceanview/inside for 9 days or less. 3% off voyages of more than 25 days
  13. Extra obc. The chance to go and check out the position of your chosen cabin personally, in fact, if you are brave, I imagine you could even knock on the door and look inside. In the past, a chance perhaps to haggle about prices, but I suspect no longer.
  14. And you can spend hours watching the infinite variety of the ever changing sea.
  15. Unless one is in the US of course. But it must be great? It looks as if your sail away will be through a thunderstorm.
  16. What about Holyhead in Anglesey, very much a Welsh speaking part of Wales?
  17. Those galleries where the games tables are/were on Deck 2/3 are usually a lovely, peaceful place to sit. I never got too much reading done though, as watching the sea from there was so engrossing?
  18. And Southampton is well worth visiting. And no worries about missing the ship. I wouldn’t risk either of the others unless on a ship’s tour.
  19. Well, I’ve had a lovely time in QG on all three ships, but do think the facilities, other than the cabins, are better on the Vistas. PG cabins on the Vistas were disappointing. Haven’t found the quality of service varies between the ships.
  20. And there are very very few countries that behave like this. Possibly Singapore? Is the US insistence driven by strong public service unions, simply to protect jobs?
  21. I think in UK English, it is usually whinge, with an h. The interesting question is why the US has this tedious policy. And why they think making people actually leave the ship, thereby setting foot on US terra firma, when they have no desire to, is a good idea.
  22. I don’t remember it being particularly empty when we lunched there. However, I also can’t remember feeling the food was particularly special. The one thing I do remember was feeling the staff were, if not actually disdainful, rather lacking In the warmth and friendliness I have always encountered in the QG.
  23. I agree. It must be a relief for the staff, who in my experience, were assiduous in their adherence to the mask wearing rule. On the other hand, it must increase the possibility of people becoming quite ill. I would feel happier if they reintroduced serious testing before boarding for passengers, I am assuming the crew are being tested often.
