  1. Well, despite having been on many Cunard voyages, I must be the only passenger who has never seen Appassionata. On the other hand I don’t go to many shows - nearly always too loud for me. But I would happily see Top Hat again. After a few months off, the food may seem less repetitive. And now you can enjoy a few weeks languishing, as spring approaches. Just one more question, if you had to pick one of the places you visited to return to, where would it be?
  2. Thank you for this. What a momentous trip. It must feel weird but wonderful finally being home again. As you don’t mention it, I assume all the admin for boarding ships and entering countries went fairly smoothly. So, two questions: Would you do such a long trip again? and Would you do Cunard again?
  3. The bears are adorable, but I’m afraid for me cuddly ships fall into the same category as ice carving and gingerbread villages, producing complete mystification.
  4. I’m not sure why, but this is such an evocative photo. It made me yearn more than ever to be aboard.
  5. We just had another deluge with thunder and lightning. But it passed quickly, probably on its way to Southampton.
  6. The website is full of glitches. This state business has been mentioned before, and there will be those who can advise from personal experience. I suspect you will have to ring them. In passing you could mention they should get a better web designer. The main thing is don’t worry.
  7. Thank you. Yes, it is fascinating. The inside shows you the interiors of London house through the ages, and round the back outside you get period gardens to go with them.
  8. Of course, if she really wants to get there early, she can sneak in past the Needles, as has happened a couple of times when I’ve been on one of the Vistas.
  9. I think QM2 must enjoy these chances to go a bit quicker than she is usually allowed.
  10. Yes, the winds are beginning to get up already. Very gloomy.
  11. Yes, I was very disappointed about how restricted you were, and you had to argue with them to be released even when you were, as I remember.
  12. Similarly, the Wallace Collection in Manchester Square.
  13. Goodness, I live there, and wasn’t expecting a storm. I shall try and sleep through it.
  14. Have you been to the Geffrye Museum in Shoreditch? Actually I think it has changed it’s name to something easier to spell but less memorable. Museum of interior or furnishing or something like that.
  15. Oddly, the arrival time is given as 21.15 tonight. That would be Nab not docked, but still strange.
  16. If this is for consumption in your cabin, remember you can, in practice, bring whatever booze you like on board with you, if you don’t mind clanking a little.
  17. I think you’ll get back just too late to greet QE.
  18. You will get an extra hour’s sleep tonight because the clocks change.
  19. My TA always does, and it has never worked. I agree about the benefits of the choice to chat or not.
  20. I suspect neither carries much compared to cabin. And to be fair I would expect a nice window table I I had booked a Q1.
  21. If it’s a London hotel, I would simply get on the Piccadilly Line, and lambast Cunard when you get there.
  22. I must say that having done many cruises in the Vistas, usually in a Q4, occasionally a Q3, despite always requesting a window table when booking, which is usually as soon as voyages go on sale, we have not ever achieved one. I suspect we are simply insufficiently forceful. However, the view is usually good, even if not on a window table.
  23. The Grills restaurants on the Vistas are very much nicer, though the tables are still close together. I have always rather enjoyed this feature. After greeting the people at the next table, one can either chat or not, with no hard feelings either way.
  24. In 2019, we had a 9 night cruise, admittedly made up of bits of other voyages, where we had four formal nights, one added once we were on board.
