  1. I don't recall a screening room on Eurodam from my January cruise. Movies about the Panama Canal were shown on the World Stage. Was it where the Tasman room is now? Across from the small meeting rooms where they had bridge and other games (Hudson, Half Moon rooms)? That's the spot where the screening room is (was?) on Zuiderdam. That room was always closed when I was on Eurodam. I recall that the screening room on Zuiderdam had comfy seats, but it was too small.
  2. Yes, SA and SB are the same. I had one of the forward Neptunes on Maasdam and had no problem with the location. I was under the Lido on Amsterdam and had no noise issues. Under the pool has a risk of noise because of loungers being dragged around on the hard floor.
  3. Lots of cruises had the midnight buffet. And I recall a chocolate themed buffet around the pool on Veendam, back around 2010 or so. I haven't been on NCL in 20 years, but I remember a fabulous chocolate extravaganza. DH, SIL, Niece were all seasick. Ex-navy BIL and I chowed down on the chocolate.
  4. I booked HIA directly through HAL for my last cruise and forgot to tell my TA. When I called to do final payment, she looked at the invoice and at first she thought it was a mistake. You probably should let your TA know.
  5. Oh, yes. DH and I did a Caribbean cruise on K'dam when the ship was new. I chose the cruise because Guadeloupe was on the itinerary. I found a company that did a Death in Paradise tour. So I have been to Honore! I embarrassed myself when the guide stopped at an outlook point with beautiful views of the sea. I looked to my left and saw a hotel and said, "Oh! That's the hotel where the bride went off the balcony!" And the guide said, "You really do know that show, don't you?" I did a search for Guadeloupe because it was the first island I could think of that isn't on most cruises. And even without counting Death in Paradise, it's beautiful.
  6. Those are all part of the Lincoln Center repertoire, but LC isn't on the current cruise. I'm afraid HAL hasn't updated their entertainment schedule.
  7. I'm so pissed at HAL right now, I'm looking at other options for next winter. I'm trying to check out the smaller ships on other lines, and so far nothing good. Princess had the same boring itineraries as HAL but on bigger ships. I started searching whatsinport by starting with islands I'm interested in. I found a few that go to Guadaloupe, but they would mean flying to one of the islands, which I don't want to do.
  8. Thank you for starting it. It has been good to learn how others are managing "the new normal."
  9. Don't look for specials on the thermal suite. The spa is run by an outside company and the price is the price.
  10. My whole cruise just went poof! 21 day Zaandam "Ultimate Caribbean" with a lot of new (to me) ports has been cancelled. In its place is one of the new Legendary cruises, 28 days to the Amazon. And the "offer" given to passengers on the Caribbean is insulting. They will honor the existing per diem, but only for cruises up to 21 days, the original length. So I can't substitute the cruise that has replaced my cruise at my original per diem. The new per diem for the same cabin is 25% more. And they won't carry over any OBC from the previous cruise. Oh, wait, it's okay. They're giving me $100.
  11. And it's a good way to use up that last bit of OBC if you have any.
  12. Dutch night in the MDR. I still make the mashed potatoes with carrots and onions in them. Sailing out of NYC! There were pool games. I can live without those.
  13. Thank you. I'll keep going for as long as I can. I keep a journal when I travel, and I've got a whole shelf in my bookcase full of them. Since I got a digital camera, I also make a photo book when I get home. I do take them out and read/look at them. It reminds me I'm very lucky to have traveled as much as i did with my husband. And also lucky that I can continue to travel. If there are any lurkers out there reading this, take heart from those of us who did that leap and go for it!
  14. I booked thorugh a TA, so I had to do CO through her. She was able to give me a list of available cabins, I chose one, and then she called HAL and took care of it.
  15. I can't say quite EVERYTHING I've learned about cruising came from here, but at least 50%. I just played the Club Orange Game and got a $3000 upgrade for $360. So thank you cruise critic posters!
  16. The daily program from my Eurodam cruise in January shows ocean Bar closing at midnight and Pinnacle Bar closing at 10PM. There's no mention of other bars. Depending on the entertainment schedule, BBKing or Billboard had a last show at 10:45, but no mention of closing time for those bars.
  17. They do say they will limit HIA, so maybe they've sold enough that they wouldn't be able to honor any more specialty meals. Please report back after your cruise (or on it if the internet is good 😀) and let us know what the onboard price is for social and surf packages.
  18. At one point, maybe 5 years ago, they said they were not accepting garment bags because they'd had problems with them getting damaged or catching on things. Even one that zips tight and stands up like a suitcase. I don't know if that's still true. Call Luggage Forward and ask a lot of questions about timing, restrictions, etc. In the past, when I've shipped a bag from the US to Sotuhampton, I had to give an exact inventory of what was in there, for Customs. When I shipped a bag from London to Southampton, I didn't need all that documentation.
  19. The art gallery was on Eurodam in January. It's a small space, but it was crammed with art. The former computer room just aft of Explorer lounge (I think that's what it was, it looked like there were desks in it) was used as the pre-performance area for the LC players. I don't know if they practiced there, but it was a place to wait to be called to the stage. Idon't think it was used for anything else. Combining that would be a lot of work and I suspect the decision to change the LC contract was made too close to drydock time to do anything there. It's a shame it's such a dead space.
