  1. Agreed, but SAS will not pick up OP at PE - he will first need to make his way via taxi/Uber or another shuttle to FLL to meet the SAS van. Not sure it's worth the hassle.
  2. Two UBER XL vehicles, or three standard Ubers should do it. Bring your own car seat (the airline will check it for free if you choose not to use it on the flight) to ensure that the seat fits and is properly maintained.
  3. Cab fare, on the meter, should be about $80+ You could also use a couple of Ubers or Lyfts and save a few bucks.
  4. Unless you are arriving late and just want a bed, it is always better to not stay near the airport. Downtown Miami is a fun town with lots of local dining and nightlife options.
  5. Coco Beach Shuttle is another option. Uber and Lyft will also get you there, or you can use a one-way car rental.
  6. You could cab or Uber to Brightline and ride the train to MCO - from there it is a rental car, taxi or another Uber to Universal. A one-way car rental for the approximate 4-hour drive is likely cheaper and more convenient - pick up the car at the MIA airport. There are flights from MIA to MCO - then use a taxi/Uber/car rental to get to Universal. If any of this helps you owe me a pint at your favorite local - Guiness please! 😎
  7. Taxis are usually waiting. Fare to TPA was about $25 on the meter a couple of years ago. Uber/Lyft should save you a few bucks. There are vans waiting but they charge per passenger - if there are 3+ in your group a cab will be a better deal. The ride to TPA only takes about 15+ minutes - if you have a late flight look at an excursion or visit the nearby aquarium (they should hold your bags).
  8. Don't reserve for your ride back - you don't know when you will be off the ship and clear of customs. Wait until you are picking up bags to request your ride - usually only about a 5-minute wait for Uber at POM. The app will ask for the ships berth number.

    Paradise Beach

    Thanks for the review!
  10. Uber or Lyft should be in the $50+ range for fares between ports. You could taxi to FLL (about $15+) and from there catch a shared shuttle (SAS and others) for about $15 per person. Seems like a lot of hassle to save a few bucks, but it's your call.
  11. "Easily" depends upon baggage for 5 - if any of them pack like my wife it will be a tight squeeze!
  12. Only a few hotels near MIA airport, and the Hampton Inn Mary Brickell in downtown, offer paid shuttles to POM. Everywhere else you are on your own for a taxi, Uber or Lyft. Lots of local dining and nightlife options near the Hampton Inn
  13. Depending upon how much luggage you bring, a mini-van cab could handle all 5 of you and should cost about $45 or so on the meter from MIA area hotels (less from downtown). UberXL also might be an option. Larry's is great, but will be MUCHO more.
  14. Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites Blue Lagoon are two others near MIA often suggested on these boards.
  15. Cozumel has a large number of beach clubs that can host your group - Paradise Beach offers good facilities, nice beach, above average beach food (love their taco truck), water toys and a HUGE pool. Check out their web site.
  16. From downtown Miami hotels you could also use Uber or Lyft. I would also look at the Brightline train - shuttle/taxi to the train and another shuttle/taxi to the port, so probably not as convenient.
  17. Hmmm? $30+ on the meter and add in the surcharge for a minivan/SUV cab and the fare should have been about $45-48 + tip. Bad experience's with cab drivers in Miami and especially the crooks in Philly are one reason I switched almost exclusively to Uber and Lyft.
  18. I would add Money Bar to the list - no beach but good snorkeling, good shade, service, food, facilities, etc. No problem getting a taxi back to the piers (know which one you are going to) from any spot not on the east side of Cozumel.
  19. Cozumel is an island and we've never booked an excursion - just picked a beach club for the amenities/features and enjoyed the day. Paradise Beach, Money Bar, Chankanaab, Nachi Cocom and others are popular and enjoyable, but very different. First time in GC you should look for excursions to Stingray City - usually combined with a snorkel stop. Not sure about the company you mentioned, but there are lots of options for stingray City tours discussed on the GC page.
  20. Taxi to MIA is about $30+ (30% surcharge for van cabs that you will likely need with 4 plus bags) and about $75+ to FLL - your call.
  21. Several web sites will connect you to hotels offering day rooms - availability will depend upon when you are cruising and the tourist season. resortpass.com will connect you to hotels/resorts offering passes to their pool/spa/beach facilities. Tip them to store y our bags while you swim. relax, and grab lunch/drinks before heading to the airport.
  22. ResortPass.com will connect you to hotels/resorts offering day passes to their beach/pool/spa facilities - tip them to store your bags while you swim, relax and grab lunch and drinks. Then head to MIA in time for your flight. The idea of hanging around any airport for 10-12 hours before my flight is frightening. 😢
  23. Luggage Lounge in South Beach is an option - store your bags there while you explore and dine, then head to MIA.
  24. If you get a good deal on a rental car at the TPA airport, it is only about a $25+ taxi ride from the port - worth comparing. Uber/Lyft should save you a couple of bucks.
  25. From MIA you can also use the Tri-Rail train to get to the FLL area - ask you r hotel which stop is the closest to them.
