  1. If by "NY" you mean the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, then park at the pier. Very secure and convenient. Even if you're cruising from the other Port of New York and New Jersey cruise terminals, Brooklyn and Cape Liberty (Bayonne NJ) the same advice applies, park at the official port parking facility.
  2. You have to contact the cruise line and obtain permission. It may be legal or not under cabotage laws depending on the itinerary. For example on a cruise where you embark in Vancouver, the Canadian cabotage law, the Coast Trading Act, would likely prohibit your embarking a foreign flagged ship in Vancouver and disembarking in Victoria, but if you embarked in Seattle then it may be legal to disembark in Victoria.
  3. Not only do you say you're going "into the city" some signs in the subway system directing you to the platform for trains headed to Manhattan said "To City".
  4. If the state reports it to NCIC it is. My understanding is that DUI reporting isn't consistent, if for no other reason that state laws vary in defining how serious the offense is considered. In some states DUI can be just a traffic violation, not a misdemeanor or felony.
  5. The process starts with CBSA receiving the final passenger manifest for the cruise. They have access to the NCIC database and will match the manifest against NCIC .
  6. You have to be cleared by CBSA for immigration purposes in your first Canadian port of call . Unless there's an issue such as a criminal conviction that would prevent you from landing in Canada you likely won't even see a CBSA agent and won't even know you were cleared, but regardless you have to be cleared in the first Canadian port. Customs clearance would normally be at disembarkation.
  7. Who posted what and where? If it's the other thread a couple of lines down this board, it predates this thread.
  8. Per the thread I cited NCL ships would be the first in the fleet to have Starlink operational followed by Regent Seven Seas and then Oceania. The entire NCLH fleet should have Starlink by year's end. They say that it's a very simple installation process so I would think there's a good chance it will be on Prima by the time of your cruise.
  9. The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are separate operational entities each under its own management and governance, but I have no idea whether USCBP would consider them a single port for purposes of the PVSA. The same separation of governance and operational management is true for Miami and Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades). Since unlike the NY or LA ports they are in no way located in the same harbor and because they are more than 25 miles apart it would seem unlikely that USCBP would consider them the a single port. What makes the Port of NY distinct is that the Port Authority of NY and NJ is joint venture between the two states established by compact with the consent of congress.
  10. Only the Prima has a single MDR menu. At this time all the other ships have a rotation of menus as has always been the case.
  11. Per this new posting on the Oceania board the Starlink test on Breakaway has been completed, contracts have been signed and the entire NCLH fleet will have it installed.
  12. Yes, a sealed can of powder would be fine and wouldn't require any special permission but the OP said they would prefer to bring the shakes and that's why they need to contact Special Needs.
  13. Assuming your flight doesn't arrive significantly late you'll be OK. BTW, check your times carefully because you'll be on EDT in the summer and you said the flight arrives at 2:30 EST. Are you boarding your Amtrak train at the Newark Liberty International Airport station or Newark Penn Station? Boarding at the airport station will save the time of an unnecessary trip to Newark Penn Station .
  14. If you don't mind someone else answering: Carmel Limo is a car service. They'll take you anywhere in NY City and the nearby suburbs. To get from JFK to Manhattan you can take a car service such as Carmel limo or Dial 7, ridesharing services Uber or Lyft, or a NY City taxi. There are mass transit options too, but unless you're traveling very light mass transit isn't an attractive way to go.
  15. The regular FAS drink package is all you need. I quoted the (poorly written) rule in post #23: "Corkage Fee is not applicable to guest with beverage package "
  16. AFAIK it's considered a single port as the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey oversees the entire seaport operation. As @navybankerteachersaid, the three cruise terminals have separate piers but all are part of the same port. Even if were not considered a single port, because of the state of emergency caused by Sandy USCBP would have granted an exemption to the PVSA .
  17. They've allowed wine to be brought on board with payment of a $15 per 750 ml bottle corkage fee for many, many years. The elimination of the $15 corkage fee if you have the beverage package is relatively recent. As for the report that beer can be brought on board, the person who said that was talking about doing it in ports of call, not at the embarkation port. I think they just lucked out because the rules clearly prohibit it. https://www.ncl.com/faq#!#can-i-bring-alcohol-board Can I bring alcohol on board? All guests are prohibited from bringing alcohol on board our ships. Please note that with the exception of Wine and Champagne, all guests are prohibited from bringing alcohol on board our ships. If you purchase any alcohol at one of our ports-of-call or in our onboard shops, we will safely store your purchase(s) and either on the final night of the cruise or the morning of debarkation it will be available for pick up in a designated area. Wine & Champagne Policy Guests may bring bottles of wine and champagne on board. When bottles are brought on board and served or consumed in any restaurant, public room area or in their stateroom, a corkage fee will be charged according to bottle sizes noted below. 750 ml Bottle: $15.00 USD 1,500 ml Magnum: $30.00 USD Wine or champagne sent directly to the ship by travel agents, friends, family, etc. or from another retail source, are subject to the same fees. Box wines are not allowed on board. Corkage Fee is not applicable to guest with beverage package
  18. The port call was canceled. Right now they’re not inclined to use the extra fuel needed to go full bore to make up for the lost time. In fact they've been shaving time off their port call schedules to allow somewhat slower cruising speeds between ports in order to save fuel.
  19. It's not what what is normally called a Bermuda cruise any more than a transatlantic repositioning cruise that stops in Bermuda. Today's cruise on Norwegian Gem that's delayed is a Panama Canal cruise that was scheduled to make a very brief port call in Bermuda as the first stop on its itinerary. With the ship being held in NYC it wouldn't be possible to stop in Bermuda without disrupting the entire remaining itinerary.
  20. I think I may have the answer to the Belize situation. I suspect you're not going to Belize City, which is always a tender port. You're going to Harvest Caye, NCLH's "private island".
  21. Judith Enjoy your cruise. I wish I was on board as originally planned.
  22. No, it won't be resolved by then, but the first people who will be housed in the shelter at the cruise terminal are currently being housed elsewhere, so if they can be moved from their current location to the cruise terminal they can be moved from the cruise terminal to yet another location. Remember that the weather will be getting much warmer at that time of the year so if needed people can be moved to something on the order of a tent city without endangering their lives. They used a tent city on Randall's Island earlier in the migrant crisis and then shut it down .
  23. Why? Ask your cruise ship's safety officer. They'll explain that it's important in the event of an actual emergency for you know where to assemble and there's no better way of doing that than making you go to that assembly station for the muster drill.
  24. Not until next year...until the cruise season starts this spring, which means about three months from now when MSC and Cunard start cruising from Brooklyn.
