  1. I didn’t say it couldn’t happen - my caveat was “often”. Obviously it doesn’t hurt to ask but I certainly wouldn’t expect it. I also would never ask on the ship, unless there was a maintenance issue with the room. Even then, from what I have heard, changing can be difficult although I am sure they will do it if they can in that case. FWIW, I changed my room to a preferred (to me) location after Royal-up to a like category room prior to boarding. Once on board I would live with my choice or allocation. I don’t think the OP should go into bidding on Royal-up with the false hope of expecting to change location once on board.
  2. I am not sure that happens, or is available, that often especially with full ships. It certainly isn’t something the OP should expect, or count on.
  3. Definitely Coxen Hole. lots to do but you do need transport if you leave the ship.
  4. Anywhere on Roatan can have sand flies on a given day. That is to say you may have had them at Maya key last time but may not next. Some one may report none at Infinity but you may experience them. The other thing is in a party of 6 only 1 may get bites. Probably the plus for Infinity you may spend more time at the pool and not on the beach unless you want to snorkel. We spend a lot of time in the pool at Maya Kay and have never been affected. i am usually a magnet for bites but always apply bug spray wherever i go on Roatan since it is a renowned problem and fortunately haven’t been affected. We did spend a day at Turquoise Bay once and the group next to us were badly affected while we were there.
  5. I imagine most people would prefer that by choice. We have actually found specialty to be really busy on formal night (2nd night) and service and ambiance not that good. Not sure why that is a designated BOGO night. Last time we agreed to come back an hour later as they were totally overwhelmed when we turned up at the designated time for our reservations and had obviously overbooked. We have always thought specialty to be overrated but have resorted to it more since the problems with MTD. Of course this may be the intention. Even at BOGO I am not paying for a sub-par experience.
  6. Sounds like an improvement from years gone by. Was the fare on an official board and was it less than Infinity asks when you pre-book ($25pp). How is the construction progressing at Infinity?
  7. I doubt under normal times there is a lot of availability but always worth asking, they can only say no, and you are no worse off.
  8. No you have to do it ahead of time if you can find an empty cabin. However this was when cruising just resumed and there was mire availability. Not so easy or cheap now so might not be available anymore.
  9. I have changed locations within assigned category with Royal Up same as guarantee. If there is anything available.
  10. Difficult to comment without knowing which resort. Quick search suggests “exclusive beach day” is at Iberostar but that the photo of resort in tour description is a stock photo and not of the actual location so cant even try and identify from photo. Sometimes with vague description like this the cruise line will change the actual location depending on current contract. However it does say “swimming pools” if that is important - no pools at Passion Island. One you require boat transfer and the other is by road. Sounds like a good price for Passion Island. I have never been but the usual complaint is with time for transport you don’t get much time at the location.
  11. Was this officially announced? If there was room for someone to make a reservation how could they deny the coupon on the setsail pass?
  12. This is what we have also done. When booking in advance for one, they have cancelled and rebooked BOGO on board since all tables are for a minimum of two people. We have been recharged a current price, some people report being lucky and retaining sale price. We also book for following B2B at the end of first sailing if required.

    Taxi Fare

I agree but not everyone has a group. It shouldn’t be necessary.
  14. Sorry to hear that but it is clearly listed on their website. However they also list their hours - I believe they say the beach club is open until 6 which i know from experience they don’t encourage because they try to throw you out by 5 to prepare for the night diners. I believe the kitchen may close at 4. Now they do Happy Hour 5-6 they are probably even more keen for you to vacate. Won’t affect most cruisers but it is something to consider when staying on the island. Buccanos is very busy on Sundays with locals, especially ex-pats for brunch, I imagine they take a rest from the kitchen and restock on Mondays.
  15. I agree with you it should be possible but I haven’t found it to be simple although it does sound as though you want to make multiple stops if you want sloths, West End/West Bay Captain Jack’s (Coxen Hole) - so not sure finding multiple rides would be straightforward but I confess I haven’t been since Covid, perhaps Roatan will surprise me after all these years! I have never been to Mahogany Bay - yes that is Carnival corporation port. I assume you were at Coxen Hole previously?
  16. You are welcome and I wish you luck! we have enjoyed Maya Key several times. I would certainly try and bribe my way on the ferry back to port. I would be much more worried about the ride back and getting back to the cruise ship on time, than getting there. Are you on the 11-day sailing? Looks an interesting itinerary, enjoy! You sound much younger than me but keep in mind Coxen Hole is not the best of places - lots of vendors, begging, poverty, people offering to take you somewhere (for a fee whether you want them to or not) - plan your route carefully and know where you are going. Look forward to your update.
  17. We also sail with Royal and it is so simple. It would be so annoying if there was a Royal or NCL ship in port and the ferry was running and you had to add on all that extra time and money just to get there. Have you confirmed what time the ferry runs to and from that dock? As i said i believe it is primarily for their own resort guests and land visitors. I wonder if they have their own shuttle that services their resort and could perhaps drop you off at the port? Usually there are a 2-3 options of time to return to the port of Roatan or Mahogany Bay. I have never noticed an option to the other pier. I actually thought they used Maya Key for resort guests on a day when there were no ships. Have you confirmed about getting a taxi back in time - that would be my biggest concern and so annoying if the ferry is running directly to the pier. Let us know how it works out if you decide to go so others will know. I am interested to know what the main attraction is for you to go to Maya Key?
