  1. We like it because it is small, very convenient from International, very budget friendly, very safe environment; It was certainly becoming more popular (loud chatting) in recent visits but remains predominantly an older crowd. When we first went there would often be 6 people max! Like every where else they are making budget cuts - smaller menu, smaller portions. We have been many times but not since last Spring. I think you have seen my previous reviews so I can’t add anything recent.
  2. I think there are/were 4 operators at Chankanaab? Not sure if this helps https://www.aquadventures.com/chankanaab-park-cozumel https://www.aquadventures.com/scuba-diving
  3. I was told several years ago you couldn’t use the sale price. Not sure why you couldn’t cancel and rebook up to the deadline, but we don’t wait until dining we do it when we board.
  4. Did you pre- book during a sale? That hasn’t been allowed previously but you can generally cancel that booking and rebook using BOGO.
  5. Try searching for reviews and videos that include Blue Lagoon or Bacalar. There have been some recently on here and more on you tube. Mixed reviews from what I have read and make sure it is recent as I think there have been different resorts at the lake over the years.
  6. What aspect of safety? If this is for a trip in the near future, highly likely both will probably have sargassum issues.
  7. Sorry i misread your post - 8 is a full house!
  8. +1 I think you have made a wise decision. The regular cabins look rather small for that many people. I assume the TA review was old? I told you they were a LOT more expensive originally. I am not sure if there is a seasonal variation. I haven’t followed that carefully just from time to time when we may be on the island. One more thing to check, nearer the time that I learnt from TA - there is a private back entrance to the Cabana Beach, used primarily for functions when the park is closed. Taxis used to be able to take you to that entrance but recently they insist you enter at the main entrance and walk from there. There is time for it to change again before February. Three ships is nothing in Cozumel although I agree the bigger ships are making a difference. Eight ships can dock and two or three more have been known to tender. Enjoy your day and let us know how it goes.
  9. I am not sure how you are seeing a price for 8 in a regular cabana? The ones I can see have a maximum of 6. The VIP Cabanas can take 8 if you go to the 8 person option but the price is more than you quoted for the random date I put in. Still reasonable I suppose if you are a large group sharing. It is expensive for 2 people for a cruise ship day.
  10. Not sure if that is an old link you have or if its just that prices are seasonal. Even your link says 6 people maximum. I haven’t been but I have followed prices since they opened, pre- covid. They were more expensive preCovid but are slowly getting back there. I am sorry I missed their promotional rate on our land vacation in 2021, when they were a real bargain! They are not VIP hammocks they are VIP cabanas that come with extras (#1 and 10 on following map) https://thecabanabeach.com/book-now/ Put in your date, click on available, highlighted, cabana # and you will get pricing and what is included. Click on black box and you will get photos and more details. You can see the hammock area. You would need to ask if those are for the general cabanas.
  11. I am not sure what you are asking. Are you talking about one cabana at Cabana Beach? This has a maximum of six people and you pay extra per person charge. I think only the VIP cabanas have hammocks and these are more than $100 for two people. Actually the diagram on the website is misleading as it does suggest there is a general hammock area. It is a private area of Chankanaab. Or are you talking about the palapas on the beach and hammocks which are first come first and not reserved. I don’t see any mention of lockers at the cabanas. There are definitely lockers for rent in the park. Scuba is between cabanas and the main entrance.
  12. Thanks I didn’t know that. It must be new with the new owners. @crewsweeper do you know who is running Nohoch now? I just checked and found it. SERIOUSLY, $19pp for round trip transport to Nohoch? Are they even allowed to pick you up inside the port?
  13. Thanks. At least you will have the benefit of offshore baffles. I have never been to Nohoch and don’t know what their refund policy is. If I was changing I would probably have changed to PAYG and decided on the day. Maya Chan can be bad (I know from experience) but I have had no problems with their refund policy.
  14. Not sure I understand your reasoning? Is Nohoch refundable? You have to pay transport in addition to Nohoch. Look forward to your photos, unfortunately it has been a bad year.
  15. How was it? It looks nice but I see preferences in reviews for Warwick unless you need a beach
  16. I just looked it up online, you can pay on the online site. They take a small deposit and then you pay in full on arrival. This is from resorts for a day website Cheaper elsewhere which I find is is often ( not always) the case with “Resort for a Day” and why I always check several brokers and often the resort directly. Sometimes the packages are different ( inclusions, times) so you have to compare carefully.
  17. Not sure who you are booking through, and can’t help with actual booking, but I do see this location offered through several outlets for different prices. If it is a problem with the website perhaps try one of the other brokers?
  18. I saw one on a photo from Chankanaab today, although access may be difficult there. I am not sure where they are launched from. I don’t remember seeing them when we were there but they were definitely in a photo today from a few years back so may be worth checking out.
  19. If snorkeling is your prime goal, not sandy beach, than I would suggest shore snorkeling from Sky Reef, Money Bar, playa Corona or one of the north shore beach clubs, La Monina, Hemingway’s or Buccanos for PAYG options. I think Sky Reef and Money Bar have equipment rental. There are some snorkeling areas, maybe not the best but to save in transport, within walking distance of the ports depending on which pier,
  20. Not sure which prices? Are you talking about the snorkeling tours? or Chankanaab?
  21. Sounds like a good idea. It is nice not to commit until you see the weather! I would probably do the same although once we did book through the ship as it did end up cheaper when transport was included (they use regular taxi vans) when the excursions were on sale so its worth watching. I have never noticed or seen reports of cooking class at Chankanaab, interesting! I wonder if that us an old menu.
  22. I am not aware either and I am not new. You used to be able to pick up some at Happy Hour sometimes when they had a dedicated bar but certainly not randomly through the day.
  23. How soon do you want to get to Diamond? Mariner doesn’t come until 2024. They are not there together.
