Breakaway standard balcony - outlet in bathroom?
bluesea777 replied to LGinPA's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Plus, when the bathroom light is switched off, the outlet goes off as well. The little battery operated tea lights will do! -
Joy right after a dry dock. Would you chance this?
bluesea777 replied to KarenRB's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
If the price is jolly cheap I'd go for it and have a fun ride, at our own peril and risk. We have been on two post-dry-dock cruises - oh boy they were in a mess - they didn't finish the refit in time due to inclement weather and/or labour strikes. Our cabin was fine in both cruises, however, we received compensations (good ones!). Both cruises were great for us. -
https://claalaska.com/?page_id=1250 btw, Ward Cove at Ketchikan isn’t too bad - the shuttles were plentiful and the store in the terminal is great - and at low prices.

We’re on the Spirit right now and had an excellent private excursion in Valdez - it was the Valdez Glacier and Icebergs tour on a canoe (no we didn’t do the paddling, there were 5 of us and two guides/paddlers) and it was superbly fantastic excursion- so beautiful. It was our 2nd visit to Valdez but it was our first excursion in Valdez. The excursion was $200 pp. The first time we visited Valdez (on June 1, during the first leg of B2B from Seward) we didn’t have any excursions booked just because the ones NCL offered were not in our interest or overpriced for our liking. We were prepared to pay for the $15 round trip shuttle to town and back. We found out when we boarded on May 31 that the Valdez shuttles were complimentary … apparently the pax on previous cruises to ours were quite surprised and seethed about having to pay. We got to town and found it totally different from other towns we’d visited - extra wide roads/streets, one or 2 storey buildings/houses spaced apart, very few shops and that was it. We walked around one big long block and trekked back to the ship on next shuttle. Sorry Valdez. Today when we were being driven back to the ship after the totally unforgettable excursion the driver (who owns the business with his wife) said to us that today was NCL Spirit’s last visit to Valdez. He said they found out last night about that and his wife called the Harbormaster today and he confirmed it. Reason is $$$$$. Pax on ship weren’t buying the overpriced excursions, town is dead, the $15 shuttles did it in. Unless you are lucky to get the excursion we had, you would be SOL with Valdez. Also the ship has to be docked at the Container dock where there is high security and guards. No one can walk around the dock freely. The town dock is too short for Spirit. Sorry Valdez.

It’ll be a few pairs of jeans, long pants, etc in a couple days’ time once our 2nd leg 🦵 is underway. 🤣😎 -
Since we arrived in Seward 2 days prior to cruise, we booked and went on the 7.5 hr Kenai fjords and glaciers cruise with Major Marine the day after we arrived in Seward. It was a magnificent excursion!

Yes, we also booked it directly with AR.

On the Spirit atm …. I was able to put 8 long sleeved sweaters/tshirts, and 5 short sleeved polo/tshirts into that flimsy bag sans problem! -

The tag has the cabin number … if you look up the past cruise confirmation you’ll find which cruise you had the shirt laundered. -
Ditto, and I’m on iPhone. When on ship I save the dailies to the Files folder each day 😊.

We travelled down to Seward from Anchorage downtown (not airport) at 6:45am two days before our 5/31 Spirit cruise. We bought the GoldStar dome tickets and it was fantastic! The train arrived at Seward train depot. A short walk to our hotel Harbor 360, and our luggage were transported to the hotel by train/hotel staff, not us 😃. Our hotel room wasn’t ready so we went out and had lunch and visited the Sea Life aquarium which was very good. Please somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think the NCL chartered trains (that go from Anchorage airport to the ship terminal in Seward) have the GoldStar dome option.

Easier to save it as pdf document into your Files so you can easily access it without internet/WiFi.

Taking Luggage Off Early - Not in Final Port
bluesea777 replied to MKandA's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
On Getaway TA from CPH to Miami back in Oct 2017 we stopped in Bermuda which is our home. We had done some shopping in DK including several bottles of booze. Upon embarking in CPH we had to temporarily give up the booze, kitchen knives, stainless steel skewers, etc, but got them back as we entered into Bermuda to dock. There was some crew exchange so Immigration and Customs officials came on board to deal with the outgoing crew, and then deal with our customs declarations … we paid duties there and then left the ship with all the shopping stuff and dirty laundry. A friend met us off ship and took the stuff home. Then we rejoined the ship to continue to Miami. Be honest and declare what you’re bringing into the country and you’ll be okay. Another earlier TA (Jade the year before), the ship had to bypass Bermuda due to stormy weather and we had to buy an extra luggage on board and excess baggage fees when we flew home from Florida!! -
We are on the Spirit SB right now, entering the Yakustat Bay to go see the Hubbard Glacier. The seas have been calm since leaving Seward 2 days ago … but still cold in 40’s, overcast with some low clouds. So I’d say, like I said about the seas between East Coast and Bermuda as well as Bermuda itself, it’s crapshoot.

Best place to view Alaska when in an OV cabin?
bluesea777 replied to bluecruisin's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
@Asawi is correct, however, the Spice H2O is on deck 10 aft, not 11. We were on Spirit in Feb 2020 (just before the pandemic) and loved the Spice H2O and the aft terraces from deck 10 up to 12. We’re back on the Spirit on Wed for 2 weeks Alaska (B2B) and have OV cabin. Didn’t bother to upgrade.
