Family OV and OV are same in size, the only difference is the family one sleeps 4, and the other OV ones sleep either 2 or 3. It's good that Jewel (and also Jade) has the Tradewinds store on deck 7 aft rather than Bliss Nightclub that is on Pearl & Gem deck 7 aft! You won't hear any noise from the store. The only OV cabins we were on while on Jade/Jewel/Gem were the mid-ship OK (Obstructed Ocean View), close to the elevators and of course the O'Sheehans. We loved the sideways rooms. We could still see the sea and sky so we know what's the weather is like. OK cabins are the cheapest in the OV category.

^^^^ that's why we booked to go on the Spirit for our two B2B Alaska cruises next year, rather than the megaships with all the bells, whistles, entertainments, gokarts, slides, VR, Lasertags, etc.

Maybe try applying the gift card to OBC so you can spend on the ship, rather than toward the cruise fare? This way you can spend it on excursions, wi-fi & booze upgrades and buy Starbucks, etc.

@shadowmeboysorry to hear your SUN Alaska cruise has been replaced with SPIRIT ... but you both will do well on the Spirit! It's different from the Sun but she's lovely after her extreme refurbishments back in Jan 2020 and we were on her the first cruise after that. There is a link in my signature .... We booked on her for our two B2B Alaska cruises May 2023. We picked that ship over the others ... if Spirit was doing the Panama we'd pick her over the other ships. You'll soon find out !!! ENJOY!! FCCs are shown on your NCL account as dollar value; the FCDs aren't shown but NCL themselves can see them on your account as percentage. Hopefully others will come back to this thread on or after 7th July to answer your question.

Sorry, no. There are FCC (Future Cruise Credit) and FCD (Future Cruise Discount) and they are different. FCC applies the credit valued to the base fare of the cruise that is affected times the percentage to your account for payment to your future cruise. This happened to cruises that ended early, were cancelled after final payment, or had something happen during voyage. FCD gives you the discount percentage that you can apply to the base fare of your future cruise. We received a few of these when NCL cancelled our future cruises long before the final payment due date. The letter mentions FCC, not FCD.

You're going on the Breakaway ... there is a couch and a drop down Pullman from the ceiling. Best to put the stepson on the Pullman bed and the little girl on couch. Both beds are long enough for adults.

Well, it's crapshoot ..... cloudy cool 60's or sunny warm low 70's. The sea is in high 60's, low 70's so definitely not sea swimming weather (except for perhaps the canucks 🙂). Long pants, short sleeves OR shorts, long sleeves. BUT ... when it's nice and sunny and not too windy, it's still nice to walk on beach. We do this all year around.

…. twin sister NCL ships Pearl and Gem are docked at Dockyard in Bermuda today, next to each other. From our place (in Southampton) across the Great Sound: Pearl on left and Gem at right. Next to them is the sailing vessel “Spirit of Bermuda”. Then we went to North Shore in Pembroke and took more shots : I don’t think I’ve ever seen twin sister ships like that at the same time. Yes, Pearl & Gem are exact sisters as they were the only Jewel class ships with aft Bliss lounge and bowling alleys, and mid-ship shops. The other 2 (Jewel and Jade) have the Bliss lounge mid-ship and shops aft, but do not have bowling alleys.
