  1. I was wondering why Getaway stopped in her tracks in the Narrows just before the Verrazzano Bridge .... she arrived in MCT (New York) at 7 am this morning, departed at 12:30 pm to sail with crew only (no passengers) to Port Canaveral but after an hour's sailing she stopped in the harbour at 1:30 pm. Sad that the above happened, but no dice for Getaway and her passengers to be able to sail out of Port Canaveral where the airports close to PC are going to be closed. Also, according to Windy the seas on both sides of Florida are expected to be very choppy (20-30 ft) on Thursday afternoon/evening. No chance. Now, it's a wait and see where Getaway will spend the 9 days before her next cruise out of PC on Oct 8th. Bermuda has a free berth after 5pm tomorrow until Sunday 8am .....

  3. Is that the The Local? It looks sooo swell for The Local! Excellent assortment of pictures - really enjoyed seeing them. Thank you! Viva TA in Nov 2023, here we come!! 11 long days for us to enjoy every aspect on Viva!! P.S. a favour to ask you .... when you see Clarense (aka Chocolate Cowboy) working in the Metropolitan, please ask him if he is going to be on the Viva when she debuts next year. He normally moves to new ships when they debut (plus Joy earlier this year). If he is going to be on Viva next year we're thrilled! Send him our best regards! Ann & Peter from Bermuda and our son and his gf also from Bermuda were on the Joy in March. We have seen him 3 times before Joy!! He follows us around, lol. Keep the photos coming!!
  4. Hi from Bermuda ….. the worst has already passed and the sun has come out. It’s still windy but dying down, and it’s dry outside. Great Sound sea is still curdling with white caps. Fiona’s eye passed about 100 miles west of us so we didn’t receive hurricane force winds but some tropical ones. We didn’t lose power but our cable/internet and phone are out. We’re good.
  5. Huh? Bermuda will be free from Fiona by Friday evening but St. John ain’t!
  6. MarineTraffic. I live in Bermuda in a house with views of Great Sound and the Dockyard!! We actually saw Getaway making a 360 …. that was why I posted …
  7. Yes, St.John, possibly for a short while then head back. Breakaway must port in Canada to comply with the PVSA law. Although hurricane Fiona doesn't make land until Friday evening it's her waves that will hit land 24-36 hours beforehand so Breakaway will need to get out of Fiona's advance path toward calmer seas. Here in Bermuda we have small craft warning starting tomorrow (Wed) evening, 36 hours ahead. Ugh, just 2 weeks after Earl! Earl was a brush-by (off the right side of Bermuda) with gale winds and we didn't suffer. Fiona will, as projected currently, will also be a brush-by, but with stonger winds as she upgrades to Cat. 4. Ugh.
  8. Just now we're watching Getaway depart from Heritage Wharf. She did something very strange .... she was docked port side, but when she pulled away from the dock she did a 360 turn before straightening up to sail ahead. Can someone enlighten to us why she did the 360 turn?
  9. There is a gap between Oct 13 and Nov 17 2023 ....
  10. Yes! It was on the Star in Gatsby’s bar. Rum Cake Martinis 🍸 - delicious!!!
  11. Can you show the modified itinerary (as well as the original one) please?
  12. @kugamuga I skipped most of the replies to get to the point of answering your question .... here's the rule of thumb: when the schools are out, the capacity increases on many ships. When the schools are in the capacity reduces on many ships, however, on longer cruises on ships may have normal capacity but with older demographics. Unfortunately, your cruise on 17 Dec falls in the "schools are out" category & it's the Christmas week so be prepared for lots of families and mobs of children - the latter takes up about one third of all passengers. With mask mandates and pre-cruise testings, etc disappearing, and unvaccinated being allowed, expect your cruise to be 100% capacity. We have been on a few Xmas and New Year cruises when our son was growing up and they were good. But be prepared! ENJOY!
  13. The waitstaff rotate both the areas and dining rooms each day, sorry.
  14. @dhjson Perhaps you can call NCL and respectfully ask them to change your room to another within the same category. Hope your sailing isn’t too full and there are some available. You can ask to do that after final payment … we were able to do that. Good luck.
  15. Just take an Antigen test and you’ll be fine. Do not take a PCR test as it is more sensitive of the two. We had Covid in late March (off the Joy) and we tested negative after 11 days on the antigen tests. No need to get the recovery letter - waste of money. Bermuda will not accept them. Just the negative antigen test.
  16. I don't quite understand what you mean. Anyway, here is a still from the YouTube kindly supplied by @bortman23 showing the outlet behind the bed .... Therefore I'll need to bring this ..... FIRMERST 1875W Low Profile Flat Plug 1ft Extension Cord 14AWG 15A White - - Amazon.com
  17. Yeah yay yay …. About freaking time!!! But … but … why does it have to be right behind the bed rather than the end table ??? 🤷‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️
  18. Vibe on Encore is the only Vibe that doesn't have padded loungers!!
  19. Close-up of Prima, as taken by Star's web-cam: She sure looks miserable! ☹️
  20. We have been on both Escape and Encore, and will not hesitate to return to the Escape if the itineraries were the same. We are in our 60’s and 70’s if this matters. Spice H2O is the way to go and we don’t do Go-Karts or Laser Tag. We don’t do Ropes Courses either but we enjoy watching it. As for the Observation Lounge, we didn’t use it while on Encore as most of the activities are in the Atrium so the lounge is pretty much a waste unless it’s a scenic cruising like Alaska. Earlier this year we and our son&gf went on Joy and they did the Go-karts … they said it was fun but once is “been there done that”. They are in their 20’s. Bottom line …. Spice H2O aft is the way to go!! P.S Encore’s chandelier is the worst of all!!
