  1. Photos of Antarctica, etc. We have been on the Star twice. 😉
  2. Also, 2 other mega ships are scheduled for St. Kitts on March 2nd, but none on March 3rd. So I guess this and above are the reasons why the itinerary got changed.
  3. Looks like 5 ships were scheduled for St. Lucia on Friday March 3rd: 3 mega and 2 small ones. Getaway and the 2 small ships are "anchorage" and the other 2 mega are "docked": Epic and Mein Schiff 2. cruise-schedule-saint-lucia-2022-2023-updated-10-nov-20221.pdf (slaspa.com)
  4. @mking8288when using the Windy app, do you ever select to see the waves? It's very nice out here in Bermuda - bright sunshine, but the sea between here and New York is gonna be very very rough tomorrow and there is no chance for the ship to circumvent (by going west and then north) the area and be able to get into New York in time. So far this year Getaway has been 0-3 in coming to Bermuda and Gem has been 3-4. One other ship, AIDAbella, popped in last week enroute back to Europe from Caribbean.
  5. It's the Getaway that was supposed to call in here today, but no. She went to Miami yesterday, and today it's the first of 2 sea days heading back to New York.
  6. Categories B9 and M9 are excluded. These two are spa cabins. Holiday sailings are also excluded.
  7. Plenty of activities to partake - or not. The dailies are tight single spaced on sea days but double-spaced on port days, lol. And it’s hard to find time to be bored!
  8. Yeppers, he was on Escape, Bliss, Encore and Joy - while we were on each one of those ships!! We’ll be on Viva TA in Nov so will be seeing him again!! 🤎
  9. Last cruise (July 2022) I had $13 something credit at end of cruise, after loads of OBCs after itinerary change that cancelled several expensive excursions, buying CNs, and little shopping, as well as some upgrades in the specialty restaurants. I was going to let the $13 something go - BUT .... upon disembarkation I got flagged .... I said, nay let it go .... but they would NOT disembark me until I collected the $13 something credit. I went groan thinking I'd have to go to the Guest Services but they already put up folding table next to the exit/gangway with an account clerk sitting there with a cashiers till with cash/money. It was the first cruise that we ever disembarked with some credit!!
  10. Epic was launched in 2010, therefore she went into dry dock in 2015 and 2020 and she isn’t due for another until 2025.
  11. Sorry to hear about the double hotel room charges .... please let this be a warning to you perhaps not to book hotel rooms through third party like Priceline, Booking etc. especially where the hotels are in high traffic areas. I just reread your post ... wow, two 3rd parties are involved - Priceline and Booking ... no, no!!! We have always booked our hotel rooms via the hotel websites. The third party websites might offer cheaper rates, but by only a few bucks, and I have heard a few scary stories. The hotels themselves have to pay commission to those 3rd parties.
  12. @shof515 is correct. Cape Liberty is in New Jersey state. New York (city) is in New York state. Getaway, as do all other NCL Norwegian ships, dock at Manhattan Cruise Terminal (MCT) that is in New York, NY.
  13. When you see Clarense next, please pass our best regards to him - Ann & Peter from Bermuda. Tell him we hope he has a great well-deserved break and we look forward to seeing him on the Viva's TA from Lisbon to Miami in Nov. P.S. I have been enjoying your live review with excellent photos ... yours is the best of all the Prima reviews and now we're seriously considering to still go on Viva (we were going to pull the plug). Enjoy the rest of the cruise!!
  14. More times than not during the winter the seas surrounding Bermuda are calm, the sun is out, it is warm with temps in mid to high 60’s, and we go out in either long pants & short sleeves or shorts & long sleeves. It was lovely all week until yesterday and today. So, it’s crapshoot. Take a chance and hope you’re lucky.
  15. Jewel's last dry-dock was in Oct 2018. We were on her post dry dock in Nov 2018. So she is due later on this year.
  16. I was waiting for this thread to appear .... I knew yesterday that Getaway was not going to come to Bermuda due to high winds and surf coming on Friday and Saturday which will make passage impossible (and very risky) entering to and leaving from Bermuda (Dockyard) due to reefs. @PATRLR This cruise is only 5 nights long and the ship must visit (& dock) a foreign port, and the Bahamas is further than Bermuda. The only other alternative suitable for the 5 day cruise is Canada where it's also receiving high winds, according to Windy. EDIT: Looking at Windy it looks like that Nassau is not much further than Bermuda, so methinks the times are typo. The 9:45 PM should read as 9:45 AM and the 3:45 AM should read as 3:45 PM.
  17. Yes, depending on the weather conditions. We’ve eaten outdoors on Waterfront during our TAs on various BA & BA+ ships.
  18. Regarding wheelchair for the birthday lady, it might be beneficial to hire one for her to use the whole cruise. Breakaway is very large and she might get tired or achy from walking from A to B to C to D, etc.
  19. The Spirit …. this is the ship we would love to go through the Panama Canal on.
  20. Superb review! Panama Canal is still on my bucket list - on smaller ship like the Jewel class or the Spirit (hey NCL, read this!!).
