  1. Sure they do, but you don't have to put anything extra on your bill. Even little places have a glass jar for tips. It is an ugly custom that we don't want to spread in Australia. Recently caught a taxi in Brisbane and driver offered me 20c change.
  2. No meals are all inclusive of taxes. Gratuities are not expected in Australia unless you go to an American hotel with American clientele.
  3. I agree. After my daughter lived in London for a few years, I made sure she took a weekend in Devon and Cornwall before coming home. She and her friends stayed in a Truro gate house whilst I stayed in a B&B on Eden Project land at Mevagissey South Cornwall. I have visited several other beautiful places on other occasions. I even went to the State Fair. Like you I love that part of England.
  4. Oops I don'g swear. That is just a common self explanatory Aussie expression.
  5. No, it is not that. When you are a manager, paid to be a decision maker each decision is different. I took a month's holiday before I left. A problem arose and the "***** hit the fan". They were watching my reaction when I came back without me knowing. I was shocked! and said This is how you should have handled it. They said how did you know that? I said that is what decision makers do, decide on best course of action to save management. It is called experience mixed with common sense.
  6. Also it is not a great location, unless you are going to stay put, then it has a priceless location. Of course if you are rich, you'd catch taxis everywhere I love to walk past around the harbour front and look in.
  7. Yes and they want you to write down what you know in a Desk File before you leave. They look at you with a puzzled look when you explain you are a Manager who is a decision maker which is the job. You can't write down what you don't know yet!!
  8. Congratulations on sale. Do you think buyers will get rezoning during that period?
  9. Rest until you are feeling better and less fatigue. Don't rush to get back to work!
  10. 8-18 Sydney Spring Yes layers are the only way to go so you can peel off later. Of course you would be experts with Melbourne's changeable weather. We always laugh that you mustn't put your winter clothes away as Melbourne people always look well dressed whatever the weather. Not so your Queensland visitors who are freezing in summer clothes in January! Have a good flight and a wonderful circumnavigation of Australia.
  11. With that look does Maxy keep the ambulance officers under control? Or are they too familiar visitors now?
  12. Lucky you have the wonderful memories of your travels prior to catching Covid. I hope you have no after effects from Covid. My girlfriend and one of her sons both got long covid. (All her family members caught covid.)
  13. That is interesting indeed. It took a long time to come to trial. To me the key point against the cruise company was that they wouldn't let their passengers cancel prior to the cruise, without charge, as other river cruise companies did. Did you continue with bus tour cruise?
  14. I saw a sister ship in Asia and it had writing on the side like a billboard.
  15. Of course most Australians don't pay those prices. However, I did pay $100 for a six ? tiny course menu at Yellow, a Vegan Restaurant at Potts Point, on recommendation of my daughter.
  16. Don't forget your summer clothes. Brisbane Thursday 16-24 Cairns ? Saturday 23-31 Darwin ? Tuesday 26-32 showers (Too lazy to look up actual days in Cairns and Darwin) Enjoy the hot weather! I was wearing summer clothes on GC before I left. They haven't been out of my port here. In Sydney I've been wearing woollen layers! Even one of my umbrellas turned inside out with bent spokes. Next day I took an English rain jacket with a hood which was perfect for the windy wet conditions. Lucky I brought two pairs of my shoes as my wet pair took days to dry out.
  17. Do you still feel the motion of the cruise on land after the cruise? I do!
  18. Can someone please list the ports of call, when you are settled down?
  19. Yes I hear them saying it never expires but I think that is for NSW people. My daughter just used her credit card which was convenient for a short visit, but that is only for adult fares.
