Wow that would have been wonderful. My daughter recently looked at a glass with native animals on it. She said did someone actually make this?

Maybe I could slot a visit in 2004 in lieu of the Aust Open and Wooden Boat Festival which is every second year.

What time of year? Are there any cruises from Brisbane to Phillip Island and Melbourne?

I used to take water from Brisbane to GC. Now I just run the brown water then boil water then put it in the fridge.

Agree don’t fly in same day, even from Queensland. No I get a shuttle from airport to hotel. I look at it likes a free Cook’s tour checking out Where other passengers stay. I’ll see if I can find name of driver for you if you like. Hotel has set time shuttles back to the airport. There is a lovely walk down to the harbour through a park. Also historic house Elizabeth House.

The basic Devere Hotel, Potts Point where many rich people live. Lots of restaurants. You can catch Uber or Taxi plus buses in two directions or walk to the harbour or to city through the Botanical Gardens.

On reflection, I don’t feel cheated just very disappointed. I cruise for the destinations and the experience rather than the ship.

August with school children good idea. our pre Christmas cruise last year was beautifully decorated. So Christmas in July in August should be special.

Such happy memories!! Central heating what luxury in a riverboat. yes it is a social lifestyle even for walkers like me without a boat. My daughter rented a big riverboat in London and they all sat on the roof. I dreamt of renting one like you. I loved how they could set up their boats in dream locations like Windsor then walk to the nearest pub. When we did land travel in UK we would stop at these pubs for a pub lunch. Good way to meet locals.

That is so sad. We swapped a house at Victor Harbour and the fairy penguins on Granite Island were the highlight.

Thermos 18 hrs hot 24 hrs cold 16oz /470 ml (single size there is a larger size) plus a Stanley which you can drink out of the top with easy push down button plus a tiny one with lid which I got on Antarctica cruise great for drinking pon deck. I use all three on board.

Making Towel animals and folding serviettes don’t appeal to me.

Both appeal to me when no single supplement.

I used to love watching ice carving, vegetable carving, champagne fountain and chocolate fountain. All Free events which made cruising so special.

I had assumed I’d enjoy the Ghan as I loved the Indian Pacific. I think they thought the Ghan wasn’t good value compared to the cruise.

I have a small 24 hr one. Worth its weight in cold for that early morning cuppa on board.
