  1. This is a very beautiful ship. I'm surprised how beautiful it is, after so many old ships in this part of the world. Being a Queenslander, I'm more used to bright colours. When my daughter lived in London, she used to say "Don't bring any GC Clothes, Mum!". She in her dull grey or black clothes!.
  2. I have checked in on line. However, I don't have a boarding pass yet.
  3. Hemingway's Brewery Cairns Wharf is a heritage listed venue located at the Cairns Liner Terminal in Cairns with views across Trinity inlet. It was very popular when I was in Cairns this year.
  4. It is lovely to receive positive feedback like yours. Glad you enjoyed your long day trip to Litchfield National Park and the Jumping Crocodiles.
  5. Reading the fine print I learnt they can do that, but one never dreamt they would. From a verandah to an inside cabin, after years of saving to be able to afford a balcony cabin! A credit would be valueless, as that would be the last cruise I'd do.
  6. Cairns forecast for Wednesday, 7/12 looks like a lovely mild day. 26-28c,feels like 30c,, mostly sunny, wind 11 km/h, 9% chance of rain, 10 UV reading very high, sunrise 5.35am sunset 6.41 pm.
  7. Thanks for that. Cruise departing Brisbane on 4/12, Cairns is Wednesday from 10-7pm, so early evening walk along the foreshore would be nice. Thanks for information re closing of the lagoon on Wednesday mornings.
  8. It was our first trip to Cooktown. Dont think they had a sealed road then.
  9. Would the Feb cruise have passengers escaping the northern winter?
  10. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I'm sorry you feel disappointed with regard to lack of care and poor service. I hope Grand Princess lifts their act and you start to feel better soon .
  11. If you have time, a ferry from CBD to Bretts Wharf Hamilton would be a nice scenic tourist trip along the Brisbane river. ,Then taxi from Bretts Wharf to Brisbane Wharf. It is a short walk from Bretts Wharf to Portside (the old wharf), which has restaurants, supermarket, movie theatre, etc. if you have time to fill.
  12. I knew the attraction was the scenic flight, as we thought of doing that flight once. It is really beautiful country where the rainforest meets the beach. We have stayed at Cooktown and I went there this year on a cruise - interesting historic town.
  13. I'm checking in for my cruise on Carnival Luminosa and it states all on board expenses are in $US? If this correct?
  14. No! "Permanent residents and citizens of Aust both get an Aust resident visa when they arrive in NZ." www.govt.nz Cruise lines should get their facts right for Australians before causing them unnecessary stress.
  15. Hi Snaerff Welcome to this thread. Maybe we'll have more passengers interested in meeting up on the first sea day, 5/12/22.
  16. I travel by public transport in Sydney. Because of the isolation of the new Brisbane Port, the Government should provide suitable transport for passengers or insist cruise lines povide paid transfers from the city..
  17. 271 dead with more missing. Landslides have isolated villages from government assistance.
  18. What time do you dock? I did a beautiful walk along the Esplanade early in the morning in the cool. Lots of birds on mud flats if the tide is out. Muddy's Cafe is a popular cafe on the Promenade to stop to have a drink. Lots of locals there having breakfast. Botanical Gardens is known for having one of the best collections of tropical plants and is well worth a visit. You could catch a local bus to one of the northern beaches, like Palm Cove, and walk along the beach.
  19. You might get more response by putting this in the roll call for your cruise. Roll Call - Ovation 24/1/23.
  20. That is very generous support from the NZ Government, which has always had a close relationship with Noumea.
