  1. Come to think of it that is probably why they want passengers off the ship!
  2. Seems you would be better off if you caught covid towards the end of your cruise, as long as you got timely food and medicine delivery!
  3. My concern is for solo passengers who test positive for Covid after they disembark. I know you can be cared for on line, as my girlfriend had telehealth ? when she had covid.
  4. How long was your cruise on Majestic and bay46's cruise on Quantam? Trying to identify a common theme here. Does the reason they split cruises of 7 days to 5 days and 2 days still apply for not getting covid on a ship, but getting it once you get off the ship Sounds like you did all the right things to stay free of covid. Like many people, I've done everything I can to keep myself free of Covid. I only ate at restaurants outside, wore masks at the theatre and on airplanes and where directed. Washed my hands often and tried to keep a distance. My daughter tells me my worse fault is to lower my mask when I'm talking to people.
  5. For those who have cruised on Luminosa already, could you please recommend a good spot outside under cover for a very small group of passengers, who haven't cruised on Luminosa before, to meet?
  6. I understand. I wonder if they have been given the truth of the current situation. Indonesian Government stopped Queen Elizabeth visiting Bali. South Sea islands don't have a big Government looking out for them, however NZ is usually quick to come to their rescue during outbreaks.
  7. I don't think big cruise ships should be visiting small South Pacific islands during the current Covid outbreak. Fiji, Samoa and Tonga have had measles outbreaks in the past. They don't have the same resistance to disease that western nations have.
  8. Welcome to this small thread. Yes not long now until 4/12. Will you be overnighting in Brisbane prior to the cruise? Sea days have brunch in lieu of breakfast and lunch, so maybe we could meet up somewhere outside in the afternoon.
  9. Good to read smaller ships like Azamara require a supervised RAT or PCR. I cruised on Coral Expeditions' Coral Geographer this year and they required PCR within a set period and a supervised RAT at Cairns prior to boarding. A nurse took our temperatures every morning. Result 100 passengers with no covid. Who made the irresponsible decision that international arrivals did not have to test at all?
  10. I don't think so. Do they have pictures when you get out of the lift? They help identify if you are on correct deck. One of the games on my last small ship was to find all the paintings. Good idea!
  11. Wow five cruises for the cost of one! I doubt we'll see deals like this again. Or maybe we will receive specials like Americans do. However, I hope they offer "no single supplement" to solo passengers when their ships aren't full.
  12. Thank you for your detailed comments on your cruises. What a wonderful trip you have had. We also love Madeira and Azores, visited by cruise ship, and Crete visited independently by ferry and local bus. PS Don't visit off season as everything was closed!
  13. Hope you are feeling better, Don. Sorry you tested positive after you disembarked from the Grand.
  14. I'm cruising on Luminosa to Great Barrier Reef departing 4th December from Brisbane. I'm so looking forward to the Piano Bar because that has been the highlight of my small ship cruising. However, I understand that all piano bars will not be equal and it depends on the talent of the pianist. I just hope Luminosa will have a pianist who has the room buzzing full of music lovers.
  15. You've just had some good cruises. I forgot about work. It is just a memory. However, I managed to travel all my working life. We were expert at including public holidays to make our recreation and long service leave last longer.
  16. That is why I always check the number of passengers. When something goes wrong, too many people brings out the worst in people, is my experience.
  17. You made my day with your blistering fast 90 min breakfast delivery. I hope you enjoyed your piping hot coffee. A problem shared is a problem halved!
  18. I just saw a cruise in Australia, which I'd love to book, if I didn't already have other plans This is the second time recently. Following Covid border closures, lockdowns etc. I'm feel free to travel again. I have something booked for the next five months, and have just returned from five weeks in Parramatta. I'm wondering if that is the situation with other cruisers as well?
  19. Luminosa 2260 passengers. The largest cruise ship I've cruised on was MSC Poesia, 2,550 passengers. Prior to that two medium size ships - Celebrity Century 1814 passengers and Fred Olsen's Black Watch 804-848 passengers. The last ship I cruised on this year, Coral Expedition's Coral Geographer had 100 passengers. No doubt, it will take me the week to get my bearings.
  20. Can you imagine Americans putting up with this lack of service re food delivery, etc? Sometimes I think Aussie are too accomodating. The squeaky wheel gets the attention unfortunately. I think they should write a letter to CEO of Carnival. People are going to stop cruising, if heaven forbid they catch covid on a cruise, and aren't cared for with compassion.
  21. We only have fried bread when we go camping as we have no toaster.
  22. Eggs and bacon, with mushrooms, hash browns, baked beans. Unless it is vegetarian, then no bacon, plus avocado/asparagus.
  23. Those are the type of memories we can all laugh about later on. Hope for better experiences next visit but not Christmas Day.
