  1. I ordered sweetbreads once from a fancy restaurant when I was in my 20s. It wasn't what I thought it would be.
  2. Yeah! Thanks. I can't get the hell.out of here fast enough though. 2 more years until my daughter graduates high school then I'm out...
  3. You should call Carnival and find out. You can get a lot of bad/false/inconsistent info on here. You will have one person say yes. Another one say no. And another one who "heard" that someone's cousin's neighbor's grandma's best friend did it once back in 1985.
  4. Cash is always a remedy. If you have a slight fender bender, the person you hit will be collecting cash from your insurance. I barely tapped someone in the grocery store parking lot once and the man claimed he had severe injuries. Riiight. There was barely any missing paint on our vehicles. Money cant buy happiness. But it can buy the things that do. If what these ladies claim happened is true, they should be compensated monetarily since they truly had harm and pain and suffering (again assuming their story is true). But not from Carnival. From the resort and personally from the men involved. In addition, the men involved should face jail time if they are convicted. Full Disclaimer: I am no legal scholar and know even less about Bahamaian law. Surprise, surprise.
  5. Whatever you want to call it. My house needs renovations too. Also my best gal has had a few "upgrades" herself that we both rather enjoy.
  6. Except those "strange men" were employees of the resort they were at, according to initial reports. So you do have a reasonable expectation of safety around them (at least in my view you do). I don't think these ladies were "asking for it" by being at a resort in the Bahamas enjoying their vacation, regardless of what level the travel advisory is at. I hope these guys are punished to the maximum extent allowable by Bahamian law and I am sure a Bahamian prison is no picnic. It probably makes Rikers Island look like the Cloud 9 Spa.
  7. Here is how I always solve this problem if I get confused about ship vs local time and worried about my watch and phone changing time zones. If I know I have to be back on board at 3:30 ship's time, when I step off the gangway I note the current ship's time and then start a timer. So if I get off at 9 am and back on board is 3:30, I start a timer for 6 hours 30 minutes. Then I know how much time I have left before back on board time.
  8. Same goes for Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Seattle, Portland...pretty much any major city in the US these days. Unless you live in Mayberry next to Andy Griffith. While I feel awful for these women, I am not sure how Carnival would have any liability here. They were on their own, not on an organized tour. Also, the Bahamas and Jamaica have been known to be somewhat unsafe for a while now. So has most of the major islands in the Caribbean along with Mexico. Are airlines responsible if you buy a ticket and travel to a country with a travel advisory and something happens to you? Of course not. It is on the individual traveler. I feel terrible for these ladies, but starting to point fingers at someone else for cupability is a bit ludicrous.
  9. If I were Doug Parker, I would have used a more updated pic of Gwen Stefani. She is much botter today as she has gotten older. She has aged very, very well in my opinion. The Blake Shelton Gwen vs the No Doubt Gwen.
  10. For those of us that don't go on scavenger hunts looking for rubber ducks, we have one of our own.
  11. Hey, whatever blows your hair back.
  12. It doesn't take much to "get your money's worth". You come out ahead rather quickly.
  13. Carnival Miracle will be offering longer voyages out of Galveston. Sailings from 6 to 14 days going to all points in the Caribbean. Lots of sailings to choose from over the next few years.
  14. I have metioned this in several other "Is Cheers worth it?" threads. Many moons ago we were on a B2B and decided to run a cost analysis experiment and do Cheers the 1st week and pay as we go the 2nd week. We spent significantly more the 2nd week. To the tune of hundreds of dollars.
  15. That depends on what "worth it" means to you. If you are a two or three drink per day person then no it isn't If you are a steady drinker like me on vacation then yes it is. A bloody mary or mimosa or two in the morning with breakfast, a michelada or two after, maybe a spiked Irish coffee, a few beers by the pool in the afternoon, a pre dinner cocktail or two at Alchemy before dinner, a glass of wine or two with dinner, then finish up in the night club or piano bar with a shot or two of tequila...then add in sodas and water and gatorade throughout the day to stay hydrated, then yes Cheers is worth it.
  16. Same goes for adults. Haven't you ever seen the big ol' fella in the hot tub ordering buckets of beer at a time for hours on end and yet never seems to have the urge to leave to go to the restroom?
  17. Oh well terrific. Then it is double verified now.
  18. Lots of speculation was posted. Nothing factual. As is always the case here on Cruise Critic by people claiming to have "inside sources" yet are always wrong
  19. Unfortunately, you can't purchase it for yourself. We run into this issue quite often recently where one of us gets DOU everywhere and the other does not. I even called and spoke to someone at the Fun Shops on Carnival's 800 number and they don't even have a way to override it. You will just have to pay the going rate and wait until you board the ship and either go to guest services or to a bar and have a bar manager get you the Cheers package.
  20. Looks like Vista IS NOT losing the IMAX for sure. https://www.cruisehive.com/carnival-debunks-rumors-about-ship-drydock-plans/122485
  21. Wear whatever the weather dictates for the day. There is no way to know one year out what the weather will be or how cold or warm it will be. You can look at an almanac and get historical patterns, but cold fronts and warm fronts and nor'easters and Super Storm Sandy can change things up. Be equally prepared for warm weather and cold weather. Be prepared for rain or sunshine. If its cold, wear a sweater and jacket and pants. If its warm, wear a t-shirt and shorts. Just as you would on any vacation in the mid-latitudes. There is no way to know this far out for someone to advise you definitively what to pack or how to dress.
  22. I would call Carnival and ask it straight from the source. You can get a lot of bad information here on CC. 10 different people will say 10 different things. Granted, you can get bad info from a Carnival rep also, but at least in that situation you can point back and say "this person on this date told me this".
