After reading my post I made a mistake and it was too late to edit it. What I meant to say in the first paragraph was DONT fly in to LGA the morning of. The way it reads makes it sound like I said don't fly in there at all. Sorry about that. Go a day or 2 prior if you can.

Fourth Excel Ship Ordered for a 2027 Delivery

True. -
I am an airline pilot and let me strongly advise you to NOT fly into LGA (or JFK/EWR). While LGA itself has been vastly improved facilities-wise over the years with a brand new terminal, the airspace has not been. NYC airspace is some of the most congested in the world with 4 busy airports all within a stone's throw of each other, with the 4th being PHL. NYC airports are very delay/cancellation prone. Probably the only other airport that is bad or worse about delays is SFO, due to its closely spaced parallel and intersecting runways. When the weather goes down, ATC has to start spacing planes further apart when pilots have to start flying instrument approaches and cannot do a visual apporach to the airport or maintain visual separation with the preceeding aircraft. There is only so much airspace, so they have to start delaying and cancelling flights otherwise it becomes gridlock and nothing moves at all. And let me say that it doesn't take much weather to clog things up. It doesn't even have to be at the airport. If there are thunderstorms 50 miles away blocking the arrival corridors into NYC, it will cause delays and cancellations. It WILL be weather related and the airline will cite weather as the cause, even though the weather is 50 miles away. It always leaves passengers wondering "what weather? Its a beautiful day here". And accuse the airline of lying about it. Well again, its the storms 50 to 100 miles away causing the disruption on the arrival or departure routes. All of these airports have what we pilots joke as the 1-2-3 rule. 1 cloud, 2 airplanes, 3 hour delay. Fly in the day prior. Enjoy the city. Have a good dinner at Carbone or Joe's Shanghai. There are literally hundreds of hotels beteen the airport and the cruise port. Just DON'T fly in the morning of.

Fourth Excel Ship Ordered for a 2027 Delivery

https://cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/2024/02/carnival-announces-new-pier-extension-for-celebration-key/ Celebration Key isn't even open yet and Carnival announced a "Phase 2" expansion. The article states that it will be capable of handling 4 Excel class ships. That pretty much says Excel 4 will be somewhere on the East Coast. -
There are still lots of details about Celebrarion Key that Carnival has yet to release. It is possible they will have some sort of evening entertainment like a light show or fireworks or maybe some sort of luau/giant fire pit beach party like Virgin does on Bimini. Regardless of wheter or not there is evening/night entertainment, there is bound to be VERY good lighting for the waterpark area. But no one has been there yet so no one really knows for sure.

Venezia - How to Reserve Time for Your Time Dining
stobe1 replied to CarolRoy's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
You don't really "reserve" a time. You request a table thru the app when you are ready to eat then you are notified when your table is ready. -
Congrats! Only 125 days to go until you reach Diamond!

SeaSick on Symphony Of the Seas
stobe1 replied to CruiseNerd2123's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yes. It is possible to get seasick on any ship, on any cruiseline, and in any ocean or sea on the planet. I got seasick on a dinner cruise boat on Lake Michigan once. And we weren't even at "sea". -
Yes people have done this cruise. Yes people fly into both LAX and Long Beach.

Suggestion on Flight after Arrival in Rotterdam
stobe1 replied to RagnarDanneskjold's topic in British Isles/Western Europe
Actually, after a little internet sleuthing, O found that Transavia flies nonstop from Rotterdam to both Innsbruck and Salzburg in Austria. Not sure if VIE is your actual final destination or not, but that's an option for you. -
I did this and saved my OBC for a more expensive Alaska cruise. If I recall correctly, they can apply it after you make final payment. Its been a while since I did it, so maybe someone with more recent experience can chime in. But I am almost 99% sure it was when final payment was made.

Suggestion on Flight after Arrival in Rotterdam
stobe1 replied to RagnarDanneskjold's topic in British Isles/Western Europe
You could fly out of Rotterdam, although you would have to connect thru London or Paris. I know both British Airways and AirFrance serve Rotterdam. KLM may also on a limited basis. -
Why bother doing that? If youre going to wait til last call do you really want to be lugging all your luggage around for a couple of extra hours unnecessarily? (Hmmm...lugging...luggage). Just check them and they will be there in the baggage claim area waiting for you when you get off.

Usually 930 to 10 somewhere in there. There isnt really a set time because every debark situation is different. We tend to do the same thing. We always book flights in the mid to late afternoon so we arent rushed or in a hurry to the airport and also to give a little bit of slop time for ship arrival delays, customs delays, etc... We vacate the cabin by 830 ( like they ask you to do) and find a lounge chair on Lido deck somewhere and wait until last call for debark then head down. We always breeze right through and avoid the lines and crowds to get off the ship and customs.

XL 4 is definitely going to Tampa. They will turn the Sunshine Skyway Bridge into a drawbridge so that XL4 can make the tranist through the bay. Or they will build it at the new Oscar Meyer shipyard in Gulfport, Mississippi and flag it under a US registry and crew it with Americans and sail it exclusively in Hawaii to compete with NCL Pride of America. -

Stating a preference for smaller ships is just that -- stating a preference. It isn't complaining. -

Carnivale. Tropicale. Festivale. Holiday. Those are the names of bygone ships of the same '80s/'90s era. My speculation would be one of those. I would love to see Fantasy, also. I would bet the farm it will be a nostalgic name from the previous era. -
