  1. There is no immigration process in Whitter like there is in other US ports. You clear US immigration in Vancouver when you initially board. Whitter will be like any other port day. Come and go as you like. If you will be changing cabins speak with the cabin steward about the process. It's fairly easy. A tip for changing cabins. Place as much as you can on hangers in the closet. These items will be moved on a hanging rack and hung in your new cabin. No need to pack up everything.
  2. Too cold? It isn't tropical weather, but people do sit around outside. I would describe the weather as cool with choppy sometimes rocky water. You will be out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It gets tropical around the 3rd day when you cross the Tropic of Cancer. Take advantage of the indoor Hawaii Cultural program while crossing. There are uke lessons for absolute beginners, hula and crafts (small fee for supplies).

  4. Booking b2bs. Compare the costs. They are usually close. Compare the OBC, may vary a some. Usually more cabins are set aside for the 7 day voyages than the 14 day, so usually more to choose from if you book as 7 day segments. We found that there is more flexibility when booking as two rather than one. This may not be important to you. Your medallion will be valid the entire time you are on board. No matter how booked your on board folios will carry over and you will receive one statement at disembarkation. If booked as a 14 day you will have the same cabin for the entire time. If booked as two 7 days search for cabins that are available for both and select one of those. It is a fairly easy process to change cabins on turn around day, in case you have to do so. No matter how booked if your turn around day is at a U.S. port (Whitter excepted) then you will have to be processed through immigration on that day. As others mentioned, cruise credit(s) for each leg no matter how the cruise is booked.
  5. I would say yes and plan on 30 to 60 minutes before sailing time. While the current itinerary mentions 8:30 this time could be adjusted based on weather, arriving tour groups and many other factors. Personally I would target for 1 hour or more before sailing. I would not feel comfortable planning too close. Also consider the Whitter tunnel schedule which regulates times in each direction. Read the all passengers back on board sign as you exit the ship. Be sure your watches are set to the proper time. If nothing posted then ask. Allow time to pass through security when boarding.
  6. I remember one trip offered, believe on the Island, pre-covid. It isn't a normal itinerary. Their normal itineraries are back and forth between Argentina and Chile, and returning to either Ft. Lauderdale or L.A. at the end of the season.
  7. Other than location there should not be any issues. They are all standard balcony cabins. Interiors will all be the same as other balcony category cabins. Aloha and Baja cabins will have 9ft. x 5ft covered balconies. Cabins A201/2 and B 201/2 balconies will have a steel bulkhead forward. Caribe deck cabins will have 9ft x 9ft balconies that are half covered. Cabins C101/2 will also have the steel bulkhead forward. Don't know what a cove balcony is. There is no cove balcony category on the Emerald Princess.
  8. All DR's serve the same menu. The DaVinvi DR, deck 6 mid ship, has a section used for Club Class dining. The Michelangelo DR, deck 5 mid ship, is just off the Piazza which gets crowded around dinner time. The Botticelli DR, Deck 6 aft, sits alone. To access you have to walk to the aft elevators or stairs on deck 7 or any higher deck and take the stairs or elevators down to deck 6. When exiting you have to go back up to deck 7 or above to access the rest of the ship.
  9. #1 - No. It's very difficult to prepare good bbq on deck and there are insufficient places to sit and eat. #2 - Princess has needed to redefine their loyalty programs for a long time. Now there is very little benefit to being a loyal Princess customer. #3 - You can finance at 0% yourself. Just send or charge payments monthly, quarterly, or whenever you want. You do not have to wait until final payment date. Why get Princess involved in payment processes?
  10. They are sister ships. Basically the same deck plans. The Crown had max speed issues pre-covid. These issues probably repaired by now.
  11. It is a good idea if possible to bring your suitcases and valuables to your next cabin. However, it isn't necessary to pack all your clothing. Recommend placing as much on hangers in the closet as possible, shirt, slacks, T's and such. Items on hangers will be transported to your new cabin on a hanging rack and will be hung in your new cabin's closet. Easy.
  12. Are you asking can I get away with having a coffee maker on board, or is a coffee maker allowed. It is fairly clear it isn't allowed. It's your call if you can get away with it. A coffee maker produces hot water through a heating element. You may get the coffee maker on board, but don't be surprised if the cabin steward removes it from your cabin and returns it at the end of the cruise. It has been reported that for sailings out of Southampton Princess includes hot pots in the cabin. They are most likely special hot pots with circuits that will reduce or eliminate the risk of fires.
  13. For me the only important Elite benefits that remain are laundry and tender service should there be a tender port. With plus fares the only use for the mini bar for me is to get the canned sodas that you can't get with the packages. The internet discount is only a benefit if you do not purchase the inclusive fares. Full suites receive lots of benefits now as well as in the past that were not related to loyalty status.

  15. It is April. It is possible that Princess does not have all their shore excursion contracts finalized for the 2023/24 Caribbean season. There could be more.
  16. "We understand that smokers need to have a space on the ship for smoking, but we think the promenade is a terrible location for it. " I believe one reason for the small promenade deck smoking area is to allow crew from the kitchen areas to have a location to smoke without going too far. I have often seen a few crew members in this area. We walked around the promenade all the time. Never had issues.
  17. Deck 7, starboard side. A small standing area aft just before the narrow area where the promenade goes around the stern of the ship. Roughly just under cabins E727/29/31. The remainder of the promenade is non smoking. Deck 16 area adjacent to the Tradewinds Bar, believe port side. There are tables and chairs there. I am not aware of any lounge area that is reserved for smokers. I have seen some that move lounges into the Tradewinds Bar smoking area. Believe there is also a smoking area on Deck 16 aft in a seating area outside the Adagio Lounge.
  18. If I understand your posting correctly you are booking three voyages, a 7 day voyage and then two 7 day voyages booked as a single booking number. Each time you return to Ft. Lauderdale you will have to be processed through immigration. Read and follow all the instructions exactly. Luggage. Your cabin steward will arrange to move your luggage to your new cabin. It's a fairly easy process. You do not have check in again. Other postings have addressed this. Each time you return to Ft. Lauderdale you will have a choice. a) disembark any time after the disembarkation process has begun up to the final call. Bring your passport, intransit card provided on the ship, and medallion with you. Proceed through immigration. Return to the ship any time after general boarding has begun, somewhere around 11:30. b) Remain on the ship. If you choose this option you will be required to report to the designated meeting area, usually the theater, at a specific time. There will be lots of passengers reporting, maybe more than 500. Bring your passports and medallions. When immigration is ready staff members will walk all passengers off the ship, through immigration and back on the ship. If even one passenger is missing no one can re-baord until that passenger is located. Everyone must pass through immigration. It's called zero count, all passengers off the vessel. Sometimes immigration will actually come on the ship. If that is the case the process is basically the same. You wait until all passengers are accounted for. Immigration will set up a table in one of the ship's areas. You then pass through immigration there. If you arrange a ship's tour follow instructions provided. You will have to pass through immigration as you leave the ship. If your tour's meeting location is on board the tour staff will lead you off the ship, through immigration and onto the tour bus. If your meeting location is off the ship you will have to allow time to disembark and go through immigration. In the past there have been only a few immigration lines for those with non US passports. I remember them being longer. There are lots of things to do nearby on your own in Ft. Lauderdale. If your ship is at pier 2 you can easily walk out onto SE 17th St. There are lots of stores and restaurants there. There is a super market if you need to purchase some supplies. There are Sun Trolley stops along SE 17th St. with a few routes that can take you down to the beach area with all its sidewalk cafes. Right next to the ship is a water taxi stop adjacent to the Hilton Marina Hotel. While it is really directly next to pier two it is outside the gates You have to walk around to get there. You can investigate all of these and many other options on line. If you are docked at one of the mid port piers you would have to grab a taxi to get to these areas. It is difficult to walk out of Port Everglades from the mid port piers. Remember that in the US it is normal to tip taxi drivers as well as waiters. Hope this helps.
  19. One. It is a single voyage. Not really "stretched" out. There will be a few selection evenings. Rehearsals, usually two of them, most likely during daytime of those last sea days. Performance at the end of the cruise.
  20. These rules do not apply when a minor is traveling with only one adult. When traveling with only one person Princess requires the minor and the adult to have a passport. Refer to the passage contract.
  21. Also note that when you leave the ship there is a sign that indicates when all passengers must be back on board. Same for tender ports. There is a sign indicating the time for the last tender to ship.
  22. Post number 3 is correct. Both grandmother and minor will require valid passports. Princess does not accept a birth certificate and ID (WHTI) in the OP's situation. Refer to the passage contract Section 2, Paragraph iii. It is very clear on the OP's situation and provides the reasons.
  23. Just to note. Karaoke backing tracks of your choice are used for the initial tryout with passengers in the room voting for their favorite. The best singers may not be selected by the passengers. Be prepared for not being chosen. If selected to perform on stage you have to select a song from a list of approximately 150 songs. Song title and key is shown on the list. You can not change the key. Approximately half of the songs are normally sung by females and the other half males, but you are not limited and can choose any song on the list. The musicians have charts for the songs. All songs are shortened to around 90 seconds. There are a few rehearsals with the live band and coaches to help in singing with live musicians. Some do have difficulty with the transition from backing tracks to live. That is why the coaches are there to help. I have been in performance groups with what appeared to be older teens.
  24. The walk you mention, Wake View Bar to Hollywood Conservatory is around 3 1/2 football fields, about 1,000 feet. You would also have to take the elevator or stairs up one flight. Passenger most used public areas are on decks 5, 6 & 7 and then 16, 17 & 18. It is going between decks that can sometimes be frustrating, crowded elevators or lots of flights of stairs.
