  1. https://www.miamidade.gov/portmiami/ More specifically: https://www.miamidade.gov/portmiami/cruise.asp Parking is conveniently available at all cruise terminals. Designated disabled permit parking spaces are available in each garage. Spaces are also available for oversized vehicles (oversized vans, recreational vehicles and vehicles with trailers) at special rates. All facilities are patrolled by security. Oversized vehicles may only park in Lot #2, across from Cruise Terminal E. On cruise days only, all garages and Lot #2 are open and manned by a parking attendant from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please note that Garage J is pre-paid only. Passengers pay upon arrival to Garage J and are given a decal to post in their vehicle for the duration of their cruise.
  2. This needs to be posted on the Roll Call for your cruise where it will be seen by your fellow passengers: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/63-princess-roll-calls/
  3. See the map in post #4. The route with the dotted line out of Vancouver is entitled the Royal Class Route. When the first Royal class ship (IIRC it was the Royal Princess) began sailing the Alaska itineraries there were a number of threads here basically asking what was Princess thinking adding a ship (and ship class) that can't sail the Inside Passage. Grand class ships out of Seattle (like the Ruby Princess we cruised on in July 2018) sail a similar route up the west coast of Vancouver Island after exiting Puget Sound but I think that is necessary because of the shorter distance.
  4. I don't have an answer to this question but if I was in your shoes, I would ask Princess - not the folks that answer the 1-800 number but directly with the medical special needs department.
  5. That was the process on the Caribbean Princess in January too and it was being enforced but the ship was about 1/3 filled and at the height of Omicron passengers overwhelmingly complied. I didn't notice anyone complying - or being asked to comply - with Sip & Cover. We did see crew reminding unmasked passengers as they left the MDR to put on their masks and crew pointing to their masks when passing an unmasked passenger in the Piazza.
  6. We've done 3 Alaska cruises (2 on the Coral northbound out of Vancouver to Whittier and 1 on the Ruby round trip Seattle). We've also cruised twice on the Sapphire including a Norwegian fjords cruise. I recommend the Sapphire Princess with a very nice covered pool area plus the deck above has a ring of lounges overlooking the pool or set up to see the passing scenery through the floor to ceiling glass windows. There is easy access on each side to the deck outdoors. The Sapphire (and the Grand) also sails through the inside passage which is more scenic and usually calmer than the route that the Majestic has to take west of Vancouver island.
  7. From Princess FAQs (https://www.princess.com/learn/faq/pre-cruise/prepare-for-your-cruise/?accordion=prohibited-items ) Drones also referred to as Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) or Remotely Piloted Aerial Vehicle (RPA), and any other remote controlled aerial devices/toys.
  8. I think that was the current Royal Princess since it was first in that class. I remember a discussion about the corner suites and the contiguous cabins on the sides of the ship well after Princess had sold both types of cabins off of the what then turned out to be 'proposed' deck plans.
  9. There is some confusion on the timing. I know the email we received yesterday (as elites) read: Just call 1-800-PRINCESS. Select cruises open for sale today (Thursday, 9/15) at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT for Elite members and 3 p.m. ET/noon PT tomorrow (that would be today) for everyone else. Princess Captain's Circle® members enjoy $100 off.
  10. We were on the Enchanted in the Caribbean in mid March and all 6 of our group commented on how improved it was! Reading all the complaints since the TA to Europe, location must factor into it and/or number of passengers on board (the ship was 2/3s filled on our cruise).
  11. Princess still has free (95% or more of the offerings) room service 24 hours a day.
  12. We have found that some of the best fares during the winter are the first 2 weeks in December and the week after New Years.
  13. We received that email 2 days ago for our April 2023 Round Australia cruise on which we have had Princess Plus since we booked the cruise. My heart stopped for a minute or two. After checking my confirmation and my travel summary and getting the same result as kiwimum when I tested ordering Plus I relaxed and decided that Princess thought it was easier to send out a blanket email rather than doing a rudimentary identification of who didn't have a Plus or Premier package.
  14. The Cabana suites and the Cabana deck look lovely except - and it is a big except - it appears that anyone walking on the cabana area deck can see into your cabin. Now that will probably only be other passengers in the limited number of cabana cabins but that still too many for me.
  15. OP - remember that shuttles charge by the person whereas a taxi, uber or lyft charge by the ride. In Miami (and Fort Lauderdale) a van taxi is the same cost as a sedan and might be more appropriate for your family of 4. Uber and Lyft have different size vehicles but the price depends on the size.
  16. Flights canceled into Heathrow for Monday morning. My sister was due to fly from Dulles (Washington, DC) to Heathrow this Sunday evening (the 18th) arriving on the 19th at 10:30 am on a United flight. Earlier this morning United notified her that it was canceled. After much machinations she got a seat on the United flight arriving earlier in the morning (6 am). Within a couple of hours United notified her that flight was canceled too. They provided no explanation as to whether it was a United issue (probably not since both are very popular flights) or at the request of Heathrow/the UK. She was able to get a seat on a flight leaving Saturday night and then had to find accomodations for Sunday night. Luckily another woman in her travel group was coming in early and had a room already booked that they could share. Now they will be there for the funeral.
  17. These are the reasons we did the northbound Alaska cruisetour and recommended that my siblings and spouses do the same when they booked their first Alaska cruises. The scenic progression was striking and we topped it off with a small plane flight over the summit of Denali on a beautiful day (which obviously was pure luck).
  18. The couple of times our cabin has not been ready at embarkation (pre-covid) we received a note upon boarding that instructed passengers they could leave carry-ons in the Crown Grill (IIRC) if they didn't want to carry them around. I presume it was a secured but don't know for sure because we just took ours with us to the MDR for lunch (so did many other passengers).
  19. The flat fee rate pre-covid was $27. I haven't seen notice of an increase.
  20. I've highlighted the response to your specific question from the official Port Everglades website (https://www.porteverglades.net/cruise/arriving-and-departing/ and included the entire section in case readers have other embarkation questions. departing passengers (embarkation) Call ahead. Contact your cruise line before arriving at Port Everglades to verify your schedule and terminal information. This is especially important if severe weather threatens. Arrive at the Port after 11:30 a.m. to avoid traffic. Cruise lines ask that you board at least two hours prior to departure. Bring government-issued photo ID. Anyone 18-years-old and older must produce a government-issued photo ID (such as a drivers license or passport) at the security checkpoint before entering the Port. Keep identification/cruise documents handy. Put them in your carry-on bag. Do not pack them in your checked luggage. You will need to produce these documents several times before boarding your ship. Assist security. Heightened security measures at the Port help to ensure your safety. Please cooperate with security personnel to expedite boarding. Weapons of any type are not permitted inside the port. Cruise guests traveling by car must make arrangements to store weapons off Port property during their cruise vacation. Tag your luggage. Complete and attach the luggage tags provided by your cruise line before you give your luggage to porters for delivery to your stateroom. Porters can provide additional tags. Carry valuables. Carry on any valuables, breakables, personal items and medications, along with your photo ID and cruise documents. Follow signs. Digital directional signs with ship names and terminal assignments are updated daily.
  21. The other alternative is to investigate a one way car rental.
  22. Some Residence Inns have them. I've stayed in one before but not in Fort Lauderdale. There is a Residence Inn (The Lugano) near the beach and another just south of the airport in Dania Beach.
  23. Possibilities: If your cruise line offers a luggage program (for a fee) where they deliver it to the airport and the next time you see it will be on the luggage carousel at your home port, enroll in it. Then you will only have your carry-on to deal with. I'd then take a cab/uber/lyft to the water taxi stop at the Hilton Marina unless your disembark at terminals 2 or 4. If so, it is a very short walk. Spend your day getting on and off the water taxi (www.watertaxi.com) seeing the sights of Fort Lauderdale (www.sunny.org). Take a cab/uber/lyft to the airport. If not or if you don't want to pay for that, take a taxi/uber/lyft to the airport (or a rental car facility closer to the port) and rent a car for the day returning it to the airport. Store your luggage in the trunk. With a rental you can visit sights further from the central core of Fort Lauderdale (see www.sunny.org). Alternatively, take a cab to the airport and store your luggage for the day at Bags to Go (www.bagstogo.net) and follow the recommendations in the first bullet.
