  1. We are booked on the Icon . We sail in a month- While the ship was expensive, we booked the day the reservations opened up, so we paid much less then the prices today. However, I am guarded as to the experience for adults on this ship. We hope that the suite area, which we love on the oasis class, will not be taken over by kids- Also, based on the video's, the suites, seem very small. Will report back on the family surfside suite.
  2. True about neighbors, but odds are noisy in surfside. Oh well a nice experience
  3. Thanks for the replies- but this is a surfside family suite- so I would anticipate neighbors might have kids- I will try to royal up to another suite location- but the pricing is so crazy. We love the Oasis ships- especially the crown loft suites-
  4. We book Central Park Balcony for a cost effective quiet cabin.
  5. My DH and I will be sailing on the Icon in a few weeks. We booked a surfside family suite. We wanted the suite perks and this was the least expensive suite when we booked. My question is the area very noisy for two senior adults? We are considering placing a move up bid as we are concerned the neighborhood might not work for us. The suite itself seems comfortable, but should we try to move? Anybody sail in these suites have an opinion?
  6. When on vacation, I am not interested in carrying soda/water on board to save a few dollars. I figure I can spring for the few dollars.
  7. have a great trip- we love the Oasis and all of the Oasis class ships.
  8. Yes. They shouldn’t mention it. So many non controversial things to talk about
  9. Politics shouldn't be discussed on vacation. I agree, no politics or religion. This is a vacation. Enjoy your time meeting new people
  10. For $75 per day, you can purchase an unlimited specialty restaurant dining package- have all dinners and lunch at specialty restaurants.
  11. You woulb be surprised! Many wealthy people now
  12. Never could survive with only carry on-s- uless a three night cruise-
  13. it amazes me how many people out their are able to afford all of these luxuries. We went to disney world recently and while prices are obscene the parks were mobbed. Guess many people doing very well now. Unless you are wealthy, which many are, stick to the older ships for now.
  14. I believe the ships save a few cabins even when they report sold out
  15. can you change your stateroom? What number stateroom are you in?
  16. Not a fan of buffet type restaurants- many filthy people picking up food with their hands, or eating from their plates then using utensils- ugh. Would rather order a limited menu from room service.
  17. Once we tried the suite life on Royal (and Celebrity) we were hooked. Makes such a big difference! Hard to go back to a regular cabin! Enjoy the suite life- a wonderful experience.
  18. We had a junior suite- the soft goods were ripped and stained. The wood furniture damaged. Reminded me of a college apartment rental. The entire ship was a disappointment. We enjoy Royal. The Oasis class ships are wonderful- and we are also booked on the Icon- but this one ship was a terrible disappointment. we are diamond plus members. Will stick to newer ships- or those that are updated.
  19. We were in a Junior Suite on the Adventure about 1 1/2 years ago. It was a poor experience. We love Royal, Oasis and Freedom class, but the "suite" was a rust bucket. Hope that they redo everything. The concierge lounge coffee machine was broken daily- so many things not in good order. Hope they either fix up the ship, or sell it. Looking foward to trying the Icon.
  20. Wow- those slides are insane! Great for young in shape people! I would definately have a heart attack! I will enjoy lounging by the pools.
  21. We will be sailing on the Icon in March. Looking foward to hearing opinions for early guests on this ship. Should be fabulous.
  22. We liked deck 9 in Central park- very cost effective and you get a big picture with a nice seating area. Cabin slightly longer as it doesn't have a balcony. Always a good deal- or deck 10 with a small balcony- do not book a cabin under the pool deck, too noisy. The handicapped rooms aren't as comfortable for those not in a wheelchair- we got one, not by choice, but as a guarantee- the bathroom was suited for a wheel chair and missing the regular shower, sink and storage. So people in "perfect" health are sometimes put in these cabins if they aren't booked under a guarantee and you cannot change the cabin.
  23. I would try to upgrade the second cabin to a suite- or consider using speciality restaurants for your dinners- the fee might cost more , but you will be together and have better food.
