  1. Let us know how this works out for you. If guest services can’t do anything on the ship for you (it’s not their fault after all)ask for the hotel manager. 🤞🏻
  2. If you can’t get a resolution from ship’s inventory, I would plead ignorance, and show up at the CO dining room. Or, present your keys at guest services when you embark and ask why they are not the right colour.. 36 hours before sailing?? And you’re in transit? They can’t expect you even to have received the email in a timely manner.
  3. This was our deck and view in E407 on the Royal Princess last month. We pushed both the chairs to the side to maximize our glacier viewing when not outside. We always book these cabins. The pictures you see on cruisedeckplans may be mine, lol.
  4. I think your best bet will be room service. The bar at the Pan Pacific closes at 11:30, so that’s an option if you make it down there by then. I wouldn’t advise wandering down to Gastown that late at night unless you know exactly where you’re going and take a taxi. The Fairmont Waterfront right across the street has a bar (Arc) that is open until 1 am on weekends, but not sure what food is offered that late.
  5. The posts about the “alleged” stabbing and fight said there was an evacuation off of the coast of Oregon. The other poster on the cruise who felt Princess should have done more was an evac to a Victoria, BC hospital and unrelated. I am pretty sure if one was a victim of an assault on a Princess ship procedures hey would get more care/follow up than the usual medical/injury evacuation.
  6. Sorry to hear that. We upgraded to a Vista on her last fall so we could get a bathtub. So the Vistas will have showers only?
  7. We had a similar experience. Only took 2 calls, lots of arguing and explaining what a mini bar is to the rep, and 3 hours on the phone to resolve 😉. While I don’t think the stewards need extra work, on our last cruise we at least knew our steward wouldn’t likely charge us in error as he’d been the one to remove the goods.
  8. When we were on her in December, she looked great. I think she’s had a pretty recent facelift. This dry dock is likely just standard maintenance.
  9. On our last cruise we were told the room steward is responsible for the mini bar contents. On past cruises, it was the bar staff. Maybe it varies from ship to ship. I wish they would just eliminate the mini bar. It’s a hassle getting the contents removed, etc, and we’ve twice had charges show up on our bill after debarkation. Was easy to call and get it rectified pre Covid but after, a nightmare. With so many people getting the HIA now, it really seems unnecessary. Princess mini fridges are empty (unless you have an elite mini bar setup).
  10. Not as far as I know, but so far it looks like 68 of us thought you knew something we didn’t. 😉
  11. My Princess Vacation Planner was able to do this for us recently. It was about a week or two after final payment. It depends on the rules for the new fare I think. I was pretty surprised. She earned some loyalty with that one for sure!
  12. Great review and pictures so far! Thank you for sharing. Buckingham Palace has 78 bathrooms? You ARE a trivia queen!
  13. Lots of good advice here already, but I would also suggest looking for the roll call for the cruise too. If there isn’t one yet, and you end up booking, start one. I find the roll calls really helpful especially if you’re going to a location that is new to you. Lots of helpful info usually. Try the destination forums also.
  14. We bring a few items to try to stay healthy and mimic a little more closely what we eat at home. On a longer cruise, food gets repetitive, fibre can be in short supply (no whole grain breads, they run out of nuts, etc) We bring a bag of unsalted mixed nuts and I recently started bringing ground flaxseed to add to my oatmeal. While we certainly enjoy the food on a cruise it’s different from how we eat at home, and we often find we are not feeling our best as a result.
  15. Thank you to all for the contributions. Happy Wednesday!
  16. Thank you for your review. Very fair in my opinion and I agree with many of your points. I would add that sailing out of Seattle on a 7 day cruise I don’t think you will ever take the Canadian part of the lower inside passage (between the island and the mainland) regardless of the size of the ship. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong but we’ve done 2 Alaska cruises out of Seattle in much smaller HAL ships and more than we can count out of Vancouver and only the Vancouver sailings have taken that route. From Seattle they go out west of Vancouver Island. Unfortunately on Seattle sailings Victoria is also just a PVSA requirement stop and too short to do anything. Having been to Alaska in Princess, HAL and Celebrity I don’t know which is better. They all have strengths. I do find Princess does a good job with destination and wildlife enrichment lectures.
  17. Yes. At least that was our experience last week.
  18. Good Morning Dailyites, and thank you to all who contribute each day. I read it daily and always enjoy. Thank you to @Quartzsite Cruiser and @StLouisCruisers for the great pictures of today’s destination. With a British mother I was raised on tea and remain addicted to this day. @grapau27 thank you for the information. This is a good reminder for many of the things we buy these days. We get our tea now from a local company Murchies, (worth a visit if you’re ever in Vancouver or Victoria). I hope it’s ethically grown, but now I will check to make sure. We eat a lot of salmon in this house when it’s in season. Love wild sockeye. It’s a rainy day here in Vancouver and as our most recent cruise ended on Saturday, I’m still trying to get motivated to finish unpacking. Have a great day everyone.
  19. Thank you for posting this, but I don’t see your experience with EZ air a “rip off” but rather a cautionary tale. I personally wasn’t aware of the cancellation terms, but as it is a consolidator it makes perfect sense. That’s why the payment terms are also much different than booking direct, and cancellation at 45 days on refundable fares. In most cases this is much better than booking through the airline, but your post shows the downside of this. We used EZ air for the first time recently when we were unsure whether to fly home from Anchorage after a transpacific, or to add on the next cruise to Vancouver where we live. I booked flights through EZ air so we’d have a way home regardless, and when the second leg of our cruise went on sale I cancelled the flights before the 45 days and booked the cruise. There are pros and cons to EZ air, and your post definitely shows the downside.
  20. Good Morning to all the Dailyites! Thank you for all the Victoria Day wishes from our American friends. We were actually in today’s port of Miyako 3 weeks ago today. This was our first trip to Japan and loved it and the Japanese people. On arrival at the port we had many locals out to great us, including schoolchildren and dancers. When we left many townspeople lined the port to wave us off. (Very poor picture taken from the dining room shown). This happened at multiple ports in Japan and warmed our hearts each time. This is a small town which suffered flooding and great losses in the tsunami of 2011. In the years since they have built amazing infrastructure to protect against this happening again. We walked about 10 kilometres passing a lot of the new building to get to Jodogahama Beach. It was a beautiful sunny day. Sorry I don’t have any pictures of the town area.
  21. Last week it was $15 per day (with elite discount, so $29.99 without) 24 hour period if buying one day at a time. If buying until end of voyage it came out to $12.50 per day for elite.
  22. Thank you for doing this. I’m sure it will be helpful to many.
  23. On Royal Princess last week, we replaced with a bottle of wine, but kept the sparkling water and regular waters. Our room steward did this for us. Like so many things it seems this is not consistent from ship to ship.
  24. Glad you had a good trip. Thank you for your review.
  25. Yes, sadly I only have NCL now too. Hopefully this hits the Canadian Amex cards soon.
