  1. There will also be enrichment lectures in the main theatre on most days. Usually Alaska themed. We really enjoyed the one given by Libby Riddles (first woman to win the Iditarod).
  2. I’m guessing it is a standby program like the one HAL has rolled out.
  3. Exactly. You couldn’t pay me to take a 7 day cruise during spring break weeks. The Pinnacle Class ships are also more popular with families and younger cruisers. I’m hardly a HAL cheerleader, but this is not a situation unique to HAL. All mass market lines will be full of kids and families during spring break. The kids sail free thing is hardly new either. We started sailing HAL when our son was a young teen (16-17 years ago) because they frequently had kids sail free or 3rd and 4th in the cabin free. We used to joke that they obviously had no idea how much teenage boys eat, or they wouldn’t have allowed him on for free, lol.
  4. Thank you to all for taking us along on this cruise! Safe travels home. @canadianbear, yes no rush to the airport if you’re on AC. They will NOT let you drop your bags early. We had to wait an hour to do so last time. @BermudaBound2014 Give my regards to Kapalua! One of my favourite places.
  5. This is another reason why we like the Queen set up. I like to do yoga, etc and it’s pretty tight when they are twins. I really noticed this when I cruised with my sister instead of DH once.
  6. Lately I’ve had no problems with the website on my new Ipad just using Safari. In fact it’s working much better than before. It was very clunky on my old IPad though. I have had to “whitelisted” the website with my content blocker and enable pop ups.
  7. Yes, us too. Not a deal for Vancouverites for sure. And we could apply our CCL stock credit, and get OBC with the current 50% off last minute sale. Now, if a Vancouver to Hawaii itinerary showed up on the list, we would sign up for sure.
  8. Concerto on deck 6 has reserve class, but that’s not a reason to avoid it. We have an upcoming B2B and are 14 days in Concerto and 7 in Allegro, so we can compare again, lol. Allegro “seems” a little less hectic to me because fewer people seem to find it for walk ups, but I could be wrong.
  9. I have found it easier to Google search my topic with “cruisecritic” at the end. Forum search engines are pretty clunky imho. Love your CC handle by the way!
  10. Good Luck. If you don’t have your call back in a day or 2 call again.
  11. It’s working for me now too. Finally!
  12. @pryce_tag Do you have the option to bid on a regular mini suite? It doesn’t sound like you are interested in the “reserve” benefits, but more the extra space, etc. It may be a lot less.
  13. While it would be nice to have the extra room (and a tub) with a child, I would not pay $4000 for it. I don’t consider that a sensible price, but I don’t know how long your cruise is. Remember that you’ll have a very, very large balcony with your aft deluxe stateroom which you may loose in your upsell. I personally also have issue with Princess “counterbidding”. I would not play that game. I also think you’ve answered your own question when you say you’re not sure it’s “worth it”.
  14. I feel like this would have been the best option in the “olden days” ie pre Covid, when they had knowledgeable staff. These days, you could probably get 5 different answers, none of which will be accurate. Probably why OP came here.
  15. Not sure, but my request thru Stockperks last week for our October cruise was declined with a note to resubmit in a few months. Resent it yesterday and approved in hours. Thank you to OP for posting this.
  16. The casino is VERY smoky and when we were on the Emerald again last September the doors were always open and I could smell the smoke on the left side facing at guest services which is just outside the doors. There were also long lines for lunch in the MDR on sea days that stretched down along the shops to near the casino open doors. We lined up once and then never again because of that. I’m not sure if it’s the practice to keep the casino doors open all the time, but in our sailing that seemed to be the case. As long as you avoid that area you’ll be fine.
  17. That’s a great, and very artistic shot! It reminds me of some of my art deco era travel posters. Best wishes to all the dailyites!
  18. Hmm, no problem here, but I am in a hotel currently and using a VPN. Still in Canada though. Checked a few and all came up with pricing.
  19. This is a good idea on the part of Virgin. Princess has one of the MDRs open during the day for card players, etc (noted in the daily patter), but most seem to still prefer the buffet area. I don’t have an issue with it during down times, but it shouldn’t be allowed during meal times when others are looking for a place to sit and eat.
  20. Yes, I miss the Crows Nest as it used to be. We spent many hours on Alaska cruises with our now grown son working on puzzles up there. I also miss the nice little food items they had all day. Only 3 ships have a Grand Dutch Cafe, and I really dislike the move of Explorations cafe to the bar side, on the Vistas like an afterthought.
  21. I also think that while the ship food is overall pretty good, when people are on it for 4 months, they may just crave a decent pizza that that isn’t found on most HAL ships. To each his own. Thank you to OPs for coming back and letting everyone know you’re ok. Good luck with recovery. Patience in recovery can be hard for an active person.
  22. Good post. I thought only the Zaandam and Volendam had the No Jogging signs due to the passenger cabins below the lower promenade deck. I haven’t been on Oosterdam though. We are pretty fast walkers, but I don’t think it’s really suitable for jogging with the high number of slow, elderly walkers. My pet peeve is those who walk 3 abreast or 2 far apart (slowly) leaving no room to walk past.
