  1. After I left school I used the mainline to get to work in Central London from the suburbs. Late, expensive, dirty and normally had to stand. When Southeast rail did a special ' anywhere on the network for £10 ', we went to Weymouth for the day. The trains weren't crowded and quite a pleasant journey. Normally the fare is over £100.
  2. Dirty filthy trains. Rubbish service. Out 12 bn revenue, 5bn comes from fares. I don't use the things, but pay over half the costs. I remember getting home from work covered in filth. As you may gather , I'm not a fan.
  3. I just about remember British rail in the 60's. Nice clean trains, cheap fares, never late, never ever on strike. Happy smiling staff. ...oh hang on..that was Thomas the tank engine.
  4. You seem to be enjoying every minute and you haven't even left the airport.. Good luck to you. I suspect you may have a pleasant time once on the ship and in the Caribbean. December for us on Britannia. Looking forward to your posts.🤣
  5. I'll give a vote to Gib also.
  6. They could do both. With a 5 port 14 night cruise they would have plenty of time to do a few extra stops.
  7. Funny old world. Tenerife airport was chaos. I thought ' wait till we arrive at Gatwick, then we will see chaos '. Plane a bit early, breezed through passport control, passport reading thingies working ( what are those soldiers and sailors doing behind the manual booths ?) Cases fairly prompt, car in correct bay and motorway clear. On that's right I remember the headlines. It was a strike day.🤣
  8. About 25 here. Bad news is that the coach to the airport goes in about 30mins. Bye bye Tenerife. Bye bye Azura. Thanks for a great week. Back on again in April. Still prefer Britannia, but Azura will do nicely, very nicely indeed.😁
  9. The little mermaid in Vancouver is even more difficult.
  10. On Britannia in October we avoided 3 out of the 4 formal nights. On Azura now and got roped into both. Again in April, but will try and avoid them.
  11. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. We book the cruise mainly on the itinerary. When we go on Britannia to the Caribbean in December, our formal clothes won't be joining us. We have stuff that we purchased brand new in shops. Charity shop clothes.......no thanks.🤣
  12. It's around 19/20. Quite peasant. I forgot my shorts, so had to buy some..My top packing tip is to stay out of the way and do as you are told.🤣
  13. We have used the app on Azura to book all the theatre shows. It all worked well.
  14. Actually it was quite good. Tonight on Azura we are in the Manhatan lounge to see some singer/comedian bloke, then off to the theatre to see some show. Both will probably be entertaining, so will do what it said on the tin. Somebody will complain..somebody always does..🤣
  15. I'm not upset that you didn't quote me. We went in 710 on Iona......so there....🤪
  16. Absolutely. Every holiday we have ever taken has been enjoyable. Some more than others, some won't be repeated , but we are currently on a P&O ship. Prawns, coasters, ties around necks. All present and correct.
  17. I'm sure you will have a great cruise Michelle. We are on again when she gets to Malta in April. This has been a good cruise. Ship is fine, food is fine entertainment also fine. I'm sure that if I went around trying.to find some stuff to complain about, I could. Life is too short for that. A very enjoyable cruise. Number 7 since freedom day. Everything is fine. Honestly it is. .....really.😁🦐
  18. In Glass House on Azura this evening. It's DW'S birthday. We had trouble getting in, but used the old ploy....we know Pauline &Graham. Seated immediately. 🤣
  19. About 7 weeks and we are back onboard. Got a 3 night Malta stay as well.🥳🦐
  20. Have a great cruise. We love Cape Verde. Seas have been quite kind around the Canaries.
  21. We ate in the beach house on Monday and met up with BiL later. They commented that the MDR meal was very good with......prawn cocktail as a starter. Our beach house meal was superb. We have eaten in the MDR 3 times and those meals have been very good, possibly getting on for excellent. Not the largest portions ever, but I guess I will still put on a few pounds in the week. Glass house tonight. Although Azura is different to the bigger, newer ships, it is all fine. I'm glad the kid who designed the buffet got the sack. Chaotic at breakfast.
  22. Thank you. If I was Lord P&O I would have a Greg's onboard. You know what you ar getting then 🤣
  23. Thanks Kalos. Is it just the same?. Doubt it., but everything is fine. Doing it again in April.
  24. If I was Lord P&O I wouldn't publish a typical menu. The punters won't then be able to complain if they don't like the offerings. We are on Azura at the moment. There are lots of hungry looking folk wandering around. I take my own coaster when we go into the bar....just incase. 🤐🦐
