There are other reasons to want a sofa.
Comfort during the day.
We use it sometimes to babysit our grandchild in the evening.
All with a cabin booked for two; expectations.
Unintendend consequeces!
Two couples are traveling together: two Ps and two others. One P will go in each cabin. Voila, all four now have access.
We used to do that to get around the drink package restriction.
I should have said, Non-connecting cabins (Hump spacious balconies on Oydessy; the cabin is square and only have a chair).
We were just in a Non-connecting, Spacious Balcony Hump, no sofa, only a chair.
New larger ships do not take away anything I, as an older cruiser prefer. New ships have all of the same venues as the smaller ships and they have adult(solarium) areas (The Hideaway neighborhood will become the adults-only area for guests 18 years old or older.). All of the smaller ships have family/kids pools and Adventure Ocean. Smaller ships have the same percentage of kids during the year.
We only disagree on terminology. RCI is expanding its base and not excluding anyone.
RCI is expanding its customer base, not trying to focus on one demographic, cruise length, or country, over another.
Posters always ignore the fact that RCI is moving to new world embark ports, and most kids are in school 8 months of the year.
There is a misconception that dry dock means refurbishment. While some major items may be replaced, cabins aren't usually touched. A dry dock is to check major systems like the engines.
Refurbishments happen continuously.
So, there are only criminals in Haiti? I've been in a port in Israel with gun boats in the harbor. Red Sea, where security with machine guns boarded the ship for protection. Mediterranean Sea with islands that have many, many civil wars. Argentina with continuous civil unrest.
You are the very naive one.
Have a safe day.
We were in Sydney, Australia on Radiance 4 years ago when COVID-19 hit. They kicked us off the ship and all we got was a goodbye.
We got a hotel and flight back to the US.
You always need to have active reservation apps with personal accounts on your cell phone or laptop. Make sure you have Google Maps and Translate installed. Always carry at least 2 credit cards with a large credit line. It could be anything your imagination can conjure up, including a medical emergency. Don't forget travel insurance.
We are not concerned about a travel interruption, but we are always prepared for it.
We flew into ANC three days early and rented an SUV at the airport. Planned and drove to Denali entirely self directed. We returned the SUV the night before the train and took a taxi to the train station for the trip to Seward.
What I don't understand is if RCI is running the tour, why do you need an SUV?
