  1. I don’t wear either and don’t attend those shopping events on board either. I’m done with the snake oil sales pitch no matter who’s mouth it comes out of.
  2. Honestly if this hadn’t been posted I wouldn’t even know about any captain having a side hustle. So the question is, why weren’t we informed about the men prior to this thread? Seems sexist to me.
  3. I just received the Celebrity credit card and will have $300 OBC. How much is it usually to upgrade on board. We are sailing on a 4 night cruise. I'm trying to figure out if it's better to upgrade or just pay the price difference.
  4. I feel the same way when I see Celebrity Chefs like Wolfgang Puck promoting appliances and cookware on Informercials that find their way to the shelves of Walmart only to end up as landfill.
  5. I believe you're right as they are already on the payroll.
  6. Celebrity better be careful. Princess might poach her to model accessories for their Medallion.
  7. Joan's celebrity status, no pun intended sold all of those Bee pins. However, I don't think Captain Kate is all that popular among the masses other than Celebrity cruisers..
  8. QVC and HSN are the epitome for mass market costume jewelry.
  9. I book a cruse on June 11. It didn't show up in my planner until June 18 or 19.
  10. Next we will be seeing her on QVC or HSN.
  11. You are assigned a club number on every cruise line you sail on from your first sailing whether you join or not. Our kids have numbers too that they now use on their own bookings. My wife didn't sign up for any of the 3 lines we sail but I saved the Loyalty number that was assigned to her sea pass for all of the lines. I just type it in when I make the booking. She has the same status as I do.
  12. All that plus navigating the cruise lines deceptive pricing and promotions. First I play on the Celebrity website to find the best deal. This means looking at every category from inside which I would never book, up to sky suite. To my surprise It would have cost me $100 more booking an interior for $199 than the C1 I actually booked all things equal with AI,Tips and insurance. It seems the higher up I went the more discounts and credits applied. For some reason it wouldn't offer me the NRD rate for the interior if I booked it AI. It was only $28 dollars more to go from a premium Veranda to a premium Concierge all things equal. Next I went to all of the website TA's and my Big Box store TA and my Auto Club TA. Non of them would let me choose a room. Only Guarantee bookings. I was 30 days out from final payment when I booked this. No real incentives worth booking with them either. So Celebrity won out for this booking offering me the best choice. Also I forgot to mention that the higher up I went in category the AI price dropped.
  13. They are all doing AI now with Princess being the last to follow. Some times they come in at a lower price if they are offering a better AI than Celebrity. We switched to Celebrity when they started that 123 Go promotion. That was the best deal at the time.
  14. I would rather sail more times in a lower category standard veranda or C1 on S class ships than sail in a suit on the Edge Class just for a real balcony.
  15. The discounts along the way. example Elite Plus 15% off specialty dining 15% off spa treatments 35% off of WiFi package 20% off drink package and 15% off of upgrading the drink package I book all inclusive so drink package discounts and WiFi are a moot point. Don't do Spa treatments and you can usually get a larger discount on board for specialty dining if they are trying to fill the rooms not to mention all of the discounts they offer you after you book. I live in Florida so even a free 7 day Caribbean cruise doesn't compel me to be loyal and chase points. I don't even like the Edge Class ships with the roll down window balconies so the Retreat isn't an incentive.
  16. We recently moved to Florida and my first trip as a resident is a 4 night cruise which I would have never considered in the past having to fly to port. We are calling on Key West and Bimini which we have never been to in 30 yrs of cruising in the Caribbean. There is a market for these short cruises in Florida.
  17. I would imagine you will be charged current pricing as there may be a promotion that was running at the time of your original booking that won't apply now. Also you could lose any OBC or AI pricing that was offered during the original booking. Make sure you ask these questions if they apply.
  18. If they are wait listing anytime this is a clear sign that more and more people are not choosing traditional dining and maybe it should come to an end. We haven't booked traditional since anytime was offered at the turn of the century.
  19. I just went through this. I booked on the 12th of June and it just appeared yesterday on the 18th. I checked every day. Also the classic drink package dropped from $72.99 to $53.99. I'm still ahead of the game at $50 with wifi being an added bonus If you book all inclusive they still offer the drink packages. Just check your invoice it should say 2 perks under promotions applied.
  20. If I could afford the time and money it takes to reach Pinnacle or Zenith I wouldn't give a damn about free drinks and laundry. As a matter of fact I think I do better not being loyal to anyone and just finding the best deal. Most of the perks are designed to make you spend more money by offering you a small discount. With that said this new program does benefit me as out of the 3 lines we sail on Royal and Celebrity are two of them.
  21. With all of the Zenith and Pinnacles crowding the retreat the rest of the ship should be empty. 🙄
  22. It's like a car window at that. May be good for cooler climates but not for the Caribbean.
  23. I did that. I live in a golf cart community and I can't tell you how many times someone drove away with someone else's cart even though the owners names were on each side of the cart. Thankfully mine isn't a popular make and model where I live.
  24. Call back until you get the answer you want is the general rule for all mass market lines. I tried booking through my big box retailer and a few of the agencies advertised here and I could only book guarantee in all categories. Since they were only offering what the cruise line was and making it seen like they were giving you something extra, I just booked and selected my room on the Celebrity site. I don't even like calling these agencies anymore. It's just a call center that picks up calls for all of the online sites and they usually don't have a clue. If I have to talk them through it, I should get the commission.
  25. It must have just updated because I had already done what you suggested. Now it's just giving me a price of $8.99 to upgrade and I had to search for the drink package price which have dropped significantly. Classic was $72.99 now $53.99. I'm still ahead of the game with $50 for both the classic drink package and Wifi. This is like monitoring the Stock Market and hoping for a crash.
