  1. Are they ones that would be outside the premium beverage package? Also, didn't realize that cocktails were included. That still seems high IMO - even with included cocktails.
  2. Don't have a clue, but the food's the same. Blu is blue on Summit as well.
  3. Yep. Lots of changes even amongst the mass market lines they've joined. The ever evolving cruise industry....Gone are the good ole' days.
  4. Agree with above as in our experience our staterooms have been ready to occupy by 1:00. Rarely later.
  5. There have been certain bar venues on board where that has happened as well. Not lost slips, but apparent "lost track" of vouchered beverages. Just saying.... We also always tip the bartenders with vouchered drinks. Our drinks may be free but they are still serving them....JMO.
  6. Have not yet sailed Icon and have not experienced it, but as we primarily eat in the specialty restaurants, we have experienced virtually every specialty restaurant offered with RCCL and at $200 pp that is 3 - 4X the typical fees we've ever paid and 2X that of Chef's Table. IMO it better be something extraordinarily special! But that is JMO and certainly to each his own. Enjoy!
  7. Drinks are only charged on CocoCay if you don't have the C & A vouchers or do not have a drink package. With either or both they are not charged.
  8. With the exception to date of Icon, over the years we have done exactly what you are planning to do and have been on at least one ship in each ship class in the RCCL fleet (and Celebrity, minus Edge class) and many several times. To date that is 17 different RCCL ships. At one time they used to sell coffee mugs in the gift shop identifying each ship, of which we have 16 (plus 2 Celebrity) but have not seen them in recent years and are missing Anthem as a result. We also have kept our SeaPass cards from each cruise, but over the past 32 years and 50+ cruises some are missing. @Essiesmom's suggestion of the clear plastic business card holders is a good one and I will likely now add a project to my list to catalogue the many cards that are primarily sitting in rubber band wrapped packs in a drawer! Enjoy your years ahead of cruising!
  9. I actually agree. We have been to both many times and in (very) earlier years St. Thomas held more charm and interest than now (although for various reasons there are fond memories of being there). But as crowded, in particular with cruise ships, as St. Maarten has become, the overnight there was somewhat special for having not experienced that on a ship before. And the opportunity to relax without concern for a short departure time was nice. Plus, IMO, there is more overall interest in things to see and do there. Also, in part because of the unplanned spontaneity of the resulting overnight, it was enjoyable just for that.
  10. Well everybody - including ship Captains - is different, and her personality and interactions with the passengers does set her somewhat apart from many others. She is quite well liked and popular among the passengers as a result. But at her core, as with all others, she is first a ship Captain and no more special in that regard.
  11. And as mentioned many times on a number of threads, if the price looks attractive now, then purchase it as if it should decrease later, you have up until 3 days prior to the cruise to cancel and repurchase at the lower price without penalty.
  12. Don't see how they could as long as there are passengers available and willing to pay. The bars are stocked the same, beverage packages or not.
  13. From the MoveUp T's & C's: You get to keep the promotions you already have. However, no additional promotions will be added to your reservation. And: You will earn points based on the original category paid for.
  14. We very rarely get involved with move up, but if and when we think we might, I note the fares for the upgraded stateroom(s) I would consider at the time that I am booking the original stateroom selected. I then follow that category(s) fares from that initial booking time, and the bid I would enter for any upgraded stateroom would typically be lower than, but would not exceed the difference between what I paid and what the lowest fare offered was for that category. Once entered I would not change it. If I get it, great, if not, no loss. But in this manner I am assured I would not overpay with the bid.
  15. I get it and point well made. And I did not take your comments in any negative manner and sorry if you felt that I did. And my "very good list" basically comes from the Celebrity / RCCL websites - LOL (they both are the same flight service)....and from personal experience.
  16. After 50+ RCCL / Celebrity cruises, who may happen to be the cruise director is of little importance to us as, in particular with Celebrity, we don't get involved with too much of anything on board that they would be "directing".
  17. Not saying they don't - only including it with what FBC does.
  18. As Ken suggests, they will sell out of the beverage packages only when 100% of the legal age passengers purchase it. And they would love that as this is a huge profit center for them!
  19. Sorry - didn't catch that in the OP's signature. An unfortunate difference in the rules, I guess. I don't think the location is bad with, if it matters, the exception of the smoking area which I do think is right below them on the deck 5 outdoor promenade.
  20. Not from direct experience, but this is also a connecting stateroom if that matters to you with an interior door that will connect to 6676. You are also on the deck with obstructed views resulting from the lifeboats, but are in a section that does not have any in front of you, so that won't be an issue. However there is direct downward limitations with the deck extension below. Not certain but you may be correct regarding this being the smoking area directly below as well. Below you internally is an area of retail shops and the hallway to Two70. If you are uncertain of this location you can be moved to any available stateroom in your same assigned sub-category which I believe is 3D/4D (in this case I believe with a GTY they are considered the same). Just contact whomever you booked through and they can confirm alternate location availability and move you if desired.
  21. Not a pet and a different cruise line there is a Captain on RCCL that at one time kept his motorcycle on board and frequently rode it in ports of call - often with others. I'm sure senior staff has certain exceptions granted.
  22. Two that I recall in 50+ cruises, but both were able to be replaced by alternates. CocoCay early 1990's pre-pier replaced with Freeport, Grand Bahama (would have preferred a day at sea, LOL) and St. Thomas replaced with a second day overnight at St. Martin on a post covid restart cruise.
  23. Nothing as you need not do anything for me in the first place. Apologizing wasn't necessary, but with a ? after it I wasn't sure if it was one. Thanks for clarifying.
  24. I don't know, do you apologize? There just is no point or value to the majority of the comments. If the shoe fits....
