  1. Those men and women who did continue to dress formal every night were stunning. It’s an unofficial tradition for crossings. As an American couple at our table mentioned, (their first crossing), “It’s clearly a them and us situation and I love it”.
  2. Let Ds have a choice from both. Used the lounge once, now we take a long breakfast in buffet and disembark when ready. Usually just before last call is announced. Thereby missing all the pre/post luggage hall mayhem. Lift (empty), card, luggage, porter, point, load, exit, car, load, gone.
  3. Cunard are very fair, one can upgrade for the price it would have been on the date of original booking. Complete with any benefits enjoyed.
  4. Peace of mind…..No playing the games of - will they, where are they.
  5. Best to ask the agent to to place one in the “waiting list”. Because if one waits until boarding, and joining the queue, the list will be very long. The wait list may already be long
  6. For a party of three or more, would suggest one contacts the Hotel’s Concierge to arrange transport. It’s what they are there to do, among other things.
  7. Here’s a thought. Throughout the World, how many people are looking (with spreadsheets and notes) at this particular cruise, waiting for a price drop exactly like one? Then consider the variables Exactly when will it drop? When one is asleep or doing other things? Will a friend and family of employees get a tip off? Take Canuker’s advice.
  8. One should consider the availability of the required stateroom, rather than price. This is a popular cruise so the choice is book a stateroom of choice, or wait, but the voyage may sell out. Example. Booked on opening Club QM Caribbean November 2023. Paid about £4800.00, choice of stateroom. Now £6500 and limited choice.
  9. The OP is returning home to UK after a long trip to Canada and probably looking to make it a memorable homecoming, therefore a cruise (sorry a crossing) on the QM.
  10. My bad…Try https://www.chantal-marie.com/en/contact.php
  11. Hope this assists….. https://www.artbychantellemarie.com
  12. Although many champion sheltered, one hated it. No view while seated, plus looking out from the stateroom, it was like being inside a tin box, natural light just duller. Steel fronted balconies also don’t work for one. Go for a level 11 glass fronted balcony midships (BB) or Club (with all it’s additional benefits) Have crossed in 11101, 11105, 11109, 12079 and 12075. Club is now one’s first choice. All staterooms on starboard side are good for tracking the sun on an eastbound voyage. The noble queen is made for the Atlantic, taking it in her stride majestically. Be impressed and enjoy. Welcome to CC - No doubt the knowledgeable CC cruisers will give all the advice needed.
  13. Excellent post - Not forgetting “Mary Rose”
  14. Take a minibus/taxi usually seats 10, but in comfort 7, would suit and work on about $30 each way. Driver would be very happy to collect your party at a time of your choosing. Drivers are very good and usually arrive about 20 minutes prior to schedule, to put minds at rest. A gratuity is welcomed.
  15. As stated, the best hotel close to the port is the Harbour, but if one is seeking a country house hotel, with fine dining, and rooms at various price points, then consider our favourite hotel near Southampton Lime Wood. https://www.limewoodhotel.co.uk
  16. Footsteps heard in narrow areas, pause, turn, smiles and nods exchanged, overtaking performed.
  17. Thanks…. Can hear Cunard ringing the death knell for a romantic side by side hand holding passeggiata. The three true queens rule
  18. From day one, one has thought, plus posted, stating a Carnivalisation, together with it’s clientele, will happen to this mongrel Anne. And received flack.
  19. One will also make an assumption. Or conversely, has read postings from the “we want more casual” dumbing down brigade and has no wish to play.
  20. There is also no restrictions on alcohol and mixers for stateroom consumption. Be afraid, be very afraid, as there is a bottle of PA lurking in one’s stateroom
  21. Take the wines, fizz etc., to the dining room lunchtime on boarding. Discuss forthcoming menus with Md’H to select appropriate. If no match, may one suggest to discuss the list of Bin Ends, being excellent wines at very reasonable prices. The Sommelier will open, breathe and decant your fine wine, ensuring it’s in perfect condition when dining.
  22. As there is a daily service charge added to one’s account, so there is actually no need to tip additionally to room stewards etc.. It’s up to the individual as to what currency and size of notes for extra tips.
  23. Just to add, as one exits the tunnel, downtown market stalls are on the other side of sea inlet (bay) and turn right about halfway up, you’ll not miss it. Wander and enjoy. Additional If of interest, as one exits the tunnel and turns right, about 50 yards down on the right, is a white building with a small door. This is a Supermarket, worth a look just out of interest and one might find what one wishes pre-packed.
