  1. I've found that the tests don't always come with the "eMed" cardboard sleeve on them. Our first ones didn't but fortunately we were doing the tests with friends that were cruising with us and their test boxes had the sleeve. We are going to be taking a test this week using our laptop. When you do it that way you go to start.emed.com when you're ready - no reservations are required. And the ID we've had to enter in the past is A-AHM-IRF-AAA-AAI (also on the sleeve). You'll have to create an account and provide the information requested. From there a proctor will come on to guide you through the process. You can also do this through the Navica app if you want to do the test through a smart device. We like using the laptop as it's a bit more stable. And when you're all done you'll get the test results via email or the Navica app. Very easy, you just need to follow instructions and not do anything until they ask you to do it.
  2. We are going to stray from Princess too. But it's only because they no longer cruise to some of the itineraries on our bucket list. We've experience some minor issues with Princess but nothing that has approached the "we're never setting foot on a Princess ship again" point. If some of the things that have happened to others happened to us we may think differently. (Hope I haven't jinxed it.) So we will hang in there a bit longer and see how it goes. Hope you find what you're looking for on Virgin!
  3. Yep! That happened to me on our cruise in May. I had to physically tap my Medallion to the tablet and then wait 10 - 20 seconds before the door would open. I mentioned it to the steward who reported it. Then towards the end of the cruise I mentioned it to the Navigator as the tablet also would change from do not disturb to service my room and vice versa on occasion. He flagged that last part for investigation (he said a reboot would probably do the trick) but suggested that I probably had a low battery. Got a new Medallion at PSD and voila! it worked like a champ in terms of clicking the door open as I walked up from then on. To the OP - did you try to make your reservation through the web version of Dine My Way? I haven't done it but Princess supposedly activated that last month.
  4. If you are referring to Goodwill FCCs that were granted as a bonus from a cancelled cruise, no they can't. Here's a link to the info about the different types of credits and I've also pasted a screenshot below listing what FCCs can be used for. https://www.princess.com/plan/fcc-onboard-cruise-credits/ ETA: There are also Voyage Goodwill credits listed in the Onboard Credits section of the Personalizer. If that is what you are referring too then yes, they are OBC. My original answer pertained to the Goodwill credits that are shown in the top Future Cruise Credits section.
  5. I cashed out twice on the Caribbean Princess a month ago. First time I didn't get change and the amount was rounded down to the nearest dollar. Second time I did get the change (I didn't ask for it). I didn't get a receipt but could have asked for it as it was tossed out. I got what I was expecting so I didn't have a problem not getting a piece of paper. I didn't think much about not getting the change. Many land casinos have gone the route of not giving change, primarily by reprogramming their machines to spit out a ticket for the change and only dispensing bills. You can get change by going to a cashier but most people don't.
  6. Hmm. Haven’t heard anything about that but nothing would surprise me. ETA: I looked through my email archives and found a prepare for your cruise email received on June 9th. Looks the same as your’s so she has been featured on these emails for at least a few weeks.
  7. There were port T's on cruises we took on the Caribbean Princess in May and Regal in February. There were none on the Majestic last August. Sounds like they are coming back but I agree that the latest ones that I've seen aren't as nice as they used to be.
  8. The Majestic went to Haines earlier this week. From the schedule it does look like ISP can handle more than 2 ships at a time, there may just be size restrictions at some of the berths.
  9. And here's the current Icy Strait Point schedule:
  10. It looks like formal decisions have only be made for ships that were supposed to berth at Railroad Dock Forward "RRF" through Sunday. The Alaska port schedules were just updated yesterday. So it still seems like they are taking this a day (or days) at a time. Here's the Skagway port schedule for the next couple of weeks.
  11. Sounds like it is one more thing that used to work like a champ for years that is now broken. Sad. Very, very sad.
  12. Was that the cruise on the Majestic last year where they messed up and didn’t restore your invitation to the VIP event? I was on that cruise and think it was you that it happened to.
  13. Happened to me as well over a year ago. Thankfully it didn’t take long for them to recover everything including the flights. And it was all for naught as Princess ultimately cancelled the cruise.
  14. A travel agent would know. It’s not something that we can do for ourselves through the Princess website. Well actually we had figured out a workaround by launching from a Princess Players Club website which applied the discounts but that seems to not be functioning right now.
  15. I believe all it takes is inputting the word CASINO in a field in the booking engine to trigger the discount so the chat person should be able to handle that. My TA books the discounted ones for us (or I have done it online and transferred them to her - now questionable due to your post) and it only takes her seconds to do it.
  16. Wow. Is Princess able to fix this or do you need to cancel and rebook? I usually have my TA book the discounted cruises for me but did book it myself once and I transferred it to her. It worked like a champ then but it's sad to know that it's broken now. Hope you can get the right fare on your bookings.
  17. I've heard of reservations getting cancelled when air is added and the Princess systems treat the lack of the casino payment as a reason for cancellation (actually experienced that one) but this is the first time I've heard of the casino actually missing final payment. The casino is supposed to pay for our cruise by July 10th. Will keep my fingers crossed that will actually happen. And I agree that you should stay on the phone until someone resolves this for you. It's unacceptable that they would just say you'll get a call back and then no one responds. ETA: Curious about the following: How did you find out that they hadn't paid? Did you get a cancellation notice? Is your booking number still active? And when did your booking confirmation indicate that they should have paid by?
  18. I don't know if Collin is still in the same job at Princess. Elliott.org has finally changed the contacts to those below. Note that if you send anything to John Padgett, I'd also send it using "@princesscruises.com" as the "@princess.com" domain is accurate.
  19. We knew our's was an issue. There was occasional delayed flushing and the steward was going to have a plumber take a look at it. That has happened to us before on cruises so we weren't very concerned. Late that night it stopped flushing and would only fill with water. We knew enough not to keep pushing the button as it would have overflowed. Anyway I went down to Passenger Service at 3 AM (they said I should have called). They had a plumber come immediately to replace a part. No problems for the rest of the trip.
  20. We were on the ship in May. Our expectations were low but the food exceeded our expectations. Staff was fantastic. We did have an issue with our toilet but that was fixed before it became an issue. It's old and rusty in spots but none of that affected our enjoyment on our cruise. YMMV!
  21. It is my understanding that the Majestic went to Haines this week and were able to ferry guests to Skagway for their excursions. The Discovery went to Icy Strait. Haven’t seen any update yet and they may not know until they are onboard where they are going.
  22. Our last two came from California but earlier ones came from different places. I just received an email today that our Medallions had been shipped for our July 17 cruise. It's in "pre-shipment" status from the USPS and until the post office receives it I won't be able to tell where it's being shipped from. The one for our cruise last February went from California to the east coast then back to Arizona. The last one in May took a more direct route. Will see what happens this time but we do have time!
  23. I went to one a few years ago. It used to be that folks who won the $20 slot tournaments that used to be held on every cruise were invited to a big tournament every year. I think they also invited some of the "high rollers" too but I got in because I won one of the tournaments. For the big tourney, they assigned people times to play the first round. You beat the heck our of the buttons and the scores were recorded with the highest scores qualifying for the next round. I had a terrible machine and so after my three minutes I was done. That machine didn't do well for anyone and was very tight but it's all luck. I'm fairly certain that the top 5 won money, with the highest scorer winning $35,000. Not sure if this is how they will do these but here's more verbiage from the email, and you can probably call to find out the rest of the details of your offer: "What's better than the sound of a winning pull in our friendliest casino at sea? How about big plays and unforgettable moments. Anytime from fall 2022 to spring 2023, choose to join six slot tournaments with prizes totaling $25,000 each cruise or compete for a share of $100,000 on our grand prize tournament cruise — exploring the Panama Canal, the Caribbean and the Mexican Riviera as you play for a share of the $250,000 pot."
  24. Makes sense as they were also scheduled for the forward dock with 3 other ships in port. Ditto the Royal so I'm expecting that we will hear news that they aren't going to Skagway this week either.
