  1. It is not uncommon for people to ask on this board whether it is possible for their travel companions who are staying in a balcony could join them in using the Haven facilities (or even just access their room). Of course the answer is always no to them being able to use the Haven. Those groups are paying more than the OP, as they are paying for the balcony as well as the Haven room, so I really don’t think that it is surprising that some people are seeing this as a good deal.
  2. Without knowing more about the OPs personal situation and the relationships between the family members involved (which are none of our business anyway), it is impossible to say whether this is a good or bad change for them. All we can say is how it would work for us. Personally, it sounds great. Not having the sofa bed made up is a real advantage, as that area can then be used for it’s intended purpose, as an area for people to sit. The person sleeping there doesn’t have their own bathroom and has to basically walk into someone else’s bedroom to use those facilities, which is not ideal. For me, the ability for that person spend time with their family during the day and then retire at night to a more comfortable bed with their own bathroom at night sounds ideal. Many people in this situation would spend more money to book it that way if the person in the balcony got haven access, so this really would be a result for many people. However that may not be the case for the OP.
  3. Butler and concierge are probably the least valuable suite perks for me, so not having the butler would have no impact on my trip.
  4. I’ve done two transatlantics, a 7 day and a 10 day and neither of them had a port stop, so one was 9 consecutive sea days. I would have appreciated a stop, especially on the 10 day, and the next transatlantic I book will probably have a couple, but both of those were a lot of fun. You get yourself in a bit more of a routine than is usual on a cruise, and I certainly drank more than usual, but they were both great fun.
  5. The upgrade is per person and gives each two meals, so if you upgrade for both then you will get two more meals for two.
  6. Unless I'm misunderstanding you, that is what it should be.
  7. Apparently not. See the post 4 before the one you quoted.
  8. I have a booking which came with two free at sea meals. I have upgraded using the speciality meal upgrade to give us an extra two (which is what free at sea plus includes). If I go online and try to add another meal package it adds it correctly to our basket and I can then go to the payment page. I obviously can't test it any further without actually purchasing, but that would indicate that I can at least purchase a third package.
  9. Sorry, I replied to your last post as if you were the OP, but looking again you were just commenting. Just wanted to acknowledge my mistake.
  10. Yes, and I think lots of people have missed out on these deals on European cruises so it’s good to point it out. I think I and ChiefMateJRK were just trying to point out how it could be easier for people to spot the deals.
  11. The point was that you didn’t need to phone NCL to find that you could get that upgrade. You need to phone to do it but you can arm yourself with the knowledge of your options before calling. On your original point, there are loads of these opportunities on European cruises at the moment. We recently upgraded from a balcony to aft Penthouse for about £200. We couldn’t upgrade to lesser suites as they were now cheaper than we originally booked the balcony for.
  12. From the comments on this thread I’m quite sure that others have managed to add it after final payment.
  13. I have a 10 day cruise on the Breakaway next year and just tried adding this to the cart to see what happened. There was only one available for the full 10 days.
  14. It’s too early to tell, but I suspect that if you don’t get a refund beforehand then they will sort it out onboard. It would be refunded as OBC though, which may not be ideal.
  15. My guess would be that they haven’t got reservations sorted for the Prima yet then. It’s possible that it may not happen until after the first few sailings.
  16. It is 120 days (more for some rooms/status). What ship are you on? I know that reservations were late opening for the Prima, but haven't looked at that since our cruise was cancelled. Maybe they still aren't open yet.
  17. Because reading comprehension is not a skill that all cruise critic members have.
  18. I've not seen anything elsewhere either. I have sent my PCC a message asking if it is available in the UK and for pricing if so. He isn't usually all that quick to respond to emails but I'm not really interested enough to call, as I don't think that it will be worth it for us, so I will see what happens. Hopefully it will turn up online when NCL get their IT in place, so sometime in the next couple of years. 🙂
  19. Is it only $30 to upgrade for the unlimited streaming? I'd have thought it was more than that. Edit: Just to clarify for anyone who gets confused, I am just asking a question. I am not advocating abuse of the internet, or destroying families by some internet crime, or anything else that your wild imagination may want to make up.
  20. Wow, you really have missed the point. Once again, I’m sure that is all very interesting. And yes, I have only skim read it because I am not personally interested in most of that at all. To be absolutely clear before you start your next essay, this is what I am saying: The premium plus beverage package includes more than Starbucks coffee. Some people will get value from free at sea plus based on what they are currently paying. The premium plus package doesn’t increase the quantity of alcohol available. If someone wants to get wasted they can do that quite adequately on the standard package. In fact, the plus package increases the non alcoholic options available. This is a small selection of things I am not saying: That you are a bad guy. That overconsumption of alcohol is good, or to be encouraged. Anything about the casino. Anything else that I haven’t said, but for some reason you think that I have. I apologise for not fully digesting and discussing your comments on the things I’m not talking about.
  21. The test that ziggyuk did was at a port of call. He tried to test it at the embarkation port but they didn’t question the wine at all (which happens sometimes regardless of whether you have the package).
  22. I’m really pleased that NCL have introduced this package. Not because of the actual offer, but because it gives us the entertainment on these threads from the comments on here. If they offered spa passes at a bargain price then I wouldn’t be interested, but I would just not purchase and move on. I wouldn’t come on here and say that it doesn’t represent value, as that would just make me look ridiculous. 🙂
  23. I’m sure that is all very interesting, but completely irrelevant to my point. My point was very simple. Firstly that the plus beverage package includes more than Starbucks and secondly that some people are already paying for those upgrades so the $$$ obviously compute for them. I am not interested in criticising other peoples motivations, so all that is irrelevant to me. I can’t just leave your last paragraph though. The upgraded beverage package is about quality, non quantity. You can already drink as much as you want with the standard package. You have had two stabs at what that package is about and been spectacularly wrong both times.
