  1. my Thought..Sleight of hand mumbo jumbo price manipulation. No true savings b/c grats will be added on to the account daily.. If folks go to guest rel to remove the grats.( traffic jam) staff will likely get much less in cash or no tips at all. Our remaining 2 Celeb cruises have the "grandfathered" all included and we do not plan on booking any more.. Service and food cuts, higher prices, and lack of customer care!
  2. after Ascent and then APEX, we are strongly leaning towards Cunard fir a new booking... Partly b/ c of the down graded changes with upgraded pricing, but also the same X routine.. we may just need a break!
  3. they sell amaretto flavor candy cookies and panetone ( ital cake). another liquer I like is Sabra..Israeli..with orange flavor..hard to get where we live so I mske it last as long as possible you are causing me to binge..in my mind! (not much of a drinker..alc conflicts with my meds..)
  4. It's fairly easy for us to access, for us it's a limo ride from Long Island. I would still rec asking if Cunard has any pre cruise hotel packages..
  5. We like soups, salads and shrimp cocktail... Can and often do make a filling meal from just those items... hoping for incremental changes and improvements!
  6. His restaurants are excellent but he also hawks stuff on TV!
  7. I know, but if one goes off plan too often one may live shorter! I am still on Metformin with sugars in range after many yrs! Of course, I do allow for one IGLU and a fru fru drink a few times per cruise, and amaretta and baileys ( after dinner). Not a dessert person but would def weaken for a chocolate buffet! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR DTR. Our daughtert is a BRAVE SURVIVOR Our grandsons are special gifts. Live each day !
  8. same ships, cruise program and clientele! not an option for us!
  9. as to the menu posted..salads,soups and apps look fine..and flank steak steak Diane seem new for OP cruise.. hope buffet is good!
  10. We loved Rhodes..one of our fav ports as well. Very intriguing history, great shopping..Wish that could have been an overnight stop. Enjoyed the great photos and big happy smiles!

    Ascent

Folks posting here got great prices! We are paying about the same as Dances above for Prime AQ class, all incl.. A bit high but AQ has become popular and pricey. We are happy to be going back to BLU and thermal suites. (We did not try to re- price with recent sale and we check our acct online frequently for errors!) Our APEX SV AI was considerably less....priced out of AQ Class for that one and happy to have the SV..
  12. you may find a bunch of us on Cunard going forward..classy but not stuffy.. The Afternoon fancy Tea is not to be missed!
  13. so wrong..not even close..esp on E class (y) ships!
  14. Def agree there is an outside seating deck as part of the view on the BEYOND BLU, but you can see out to the water. Views on BEYOND were not blocked by cleaning items, barrels , lifeboats etc as they are on the EDGE ( which keeps the drapes closed most of the time). .Very much improved and hoping the same for ASCENT!
  15. guess you were one of the favorites.! On BEYOND, Luminae was a long fairly narrow room, very dark wood, that spread out around the window area at the end. Drapes along the side were drawn The table we had a few times was squeezed into a middle area with large and smaller tables mixed in..Even waiters had to be careful when serving....other dining sections were empty.. The quieter area to the left as you walked in which we had twice was better but very dark. Every sailing is diff and we only had this one experience to relate. That's why OP should carefully decide if a bid up is warranted
  16. For us, (just comparing our cruise on BEYOND.) def prefer BLU. This was before the overall cutbacks. Luminae was dark. Seating in the mid-section was crowded and loud. Seems only the favored ones were seated up front. Service was slow between courses. I got locked in the auto door bathroom and nobody cared..too busy! Nothing very much on the regular L menu appealed to us..thank heaven for every day salmon.. The lobster dinner was tiny but very tasty... had it with crab. The amuse bouche...quirky..did not eat. Shrimp cocktail was limp and sauce "ketchupy." The bread was doled out by a lone server for the whole room and often not available from the kitchen (??) " the bread is late" We escaped to BLU, bright and light with nice views on BEYOND.. Bread basket was on the table, nice pre dinner crackers and spreads. Fresh jumbo shrimp..great sauce. Amazing personal service and food overall. We are very happy we tried the suite experience, but are mostly AQ fans..going back there for Ascent. Suggest you read various opinions and check out menus. Each ship and cruise varies....If you bid up and win, you do get all the suite extras and can go to BLU subject to availability
  17. Book early for Manhattan...hotels..even some nicer ones are being used to house homeless..maybe Cunard has a hotel package! Also very excited about your upcoming cruise..
  18. Ephesus is amazing..even if not into ruins. Alot of walking..wear comfy shoes.and sun hats! The Turkish people are warm and hospitable..
  19. I believe Ephesus is in Turkey. Akotori is now open on Santorini We did a similar tour on Santorini..early tender to bus area, early arrival at Oia, lovely winery and back to Fira. Very hot day town was crowded lots of women beggars. We took the cable car down,( no lines), got some food at the tender area and easy ride back to the ship. if we go back we would seek out Akotiri..
