  1. I saw this reference to a "Wellness Check" too after I checked in yesterday for our 10/26 cruise to Bermuda and Caribbean. The app said to please be on time for my selected check in time, for the wellness check. I was wondering about this also. Perhaps its just "Turn your head and cough"
  2. i saw a video on instagram which had the magic carpet of one of the EClass ships moving down, while the ship was moving fast. Perhaps it was only a test (or a highly edited video) (It looked scary! )
  3. Book another specialty restaurant 🙂 or another excursion. I have 4 specialty restaurant reservations booked using onboard credit for our 9 night cruise. I also booked the behind the scenes ship tour.
  4. Just keep in mind the layout of your ship. I know on Beyond, (and probably Apex too) the Luminae kitchen is about as far away from the main kitchen storerooms on the ship as possible. I wouldn't want to be the crew member who has to run down while you're eating your vichysoisse app, 10 decks, and then from one end of the ship to the other, to get you lamb chops which aren't in the Luminae kitchen.
  5. We're sailing in a Sky Suite on Beyond next month. Also our second celebrity cruise and our first time on the retreat deck. Here's what I've learned: Plan ahead and review the Luminae menu on the app. Try to decide what you'll want to eat the night before if you're picky. Order special menu requests a day ahead with the Maitre D'. If you're sailing somewhere warm, expect all pool decks to be crowded at peak times, including the Retreat sundeck. Get there early. Consider using some of your on board credit for a cabana. We rented 1/2 cabana one day on Beyond. It's not on the retreat deck, but it looks like a nice, reserved way to spend a day at sea in the Caribbean without stressing over deck chairs. Apparently Apex cabanas are in less desirable positioning that on Beyond (people walk in front of you a lot apparently) so check out pics and reviews before booking that. I used my On board credit for specialty restaurant and excursion reservations. I had to move some things around and they immediately credited my OBC when a cancelled a reservation, so yes, those are great uses for the credit and nothing to worry about. Don't stress over how to use a butler. I've had butlers at land based vacation resorts. Use them as needed. Think of them as your personal assistant if you need assistance. You don't HAVE to keep them busy if you don't have any special or not so special needs. I hope you're as excited for the suite experience as we are.
  6. Hey! I didn't knock Alfred! I love Alfred!
  7. You joined CruiseCritic as "Cruisegirl6" 18 years ago. Today you're going through "that age when hot flashes wake you up" Time really flies around here... I think I joined cruise critic when it was embedded in AOL
  8. Perhaps you should take up your displeasure with the Matha’s Vineyard officials who permitted this to begin with. If a store opens with a welcome sign, it’s not the customer’s fault if they walk inside.
  9. I’m amazed you all remember names of your coffee servers. Well done !
  10. There have been a lot of job title changes in the land based hospitality industry over the past 40 years Maid is now Room attendant The Houseman is now a Houseperson Waiter and Waitress are now Servers. The maintenance dept is now the engineering department. Front desk clerk is now Front desk agent Bellhop to Bellman to Bellperson Hostesses are now Hosts Security guard is now Security Agent there are other changes too I always thought someone with a job title “Butler” has gone through rigorous butler training and they’ve earned the title with respect. Maybe I’m influenced by watching Batman as a kid in the 60’s and my first exposure to a butler was Alfred. That’s who I picture when I hear the term.
  11. I’m puzzled why an extra half bath is so worth it “especially if you’re over 60.”
  12. I bought packages in advance using OBC and if you change your mind and cancel within the cancelable period they’ll refund your OBC back to your account.
  13. somewhere, in the fine print, it likely says "specific brands are subject to availability."
  14. I find specialty restaurants are always far superior experiences to assigned dining room experiences. I try to book at least half our dinners in the Specialty restaurants and factor in that cost in our vacation. We were in Aqua and Blu on Equinox. I liked Blu a lot but I mostly appreciated the civility and service for breakfast compared to the alternatives.
  15. I also booked with crappy internet but now I have StarLink. I booked with personal retreat hosts. Now they’re called Butlers again. I booked with mask mandates. Now they’re gone. I booked an IV. Now im in an S1 sky suite. Things change in a year. They always do.
  16. Don't worry about a thing,'Cause every little thing gonna be all right
  17. With so many cruises abandoning testing requirements there are many of us still scheduled to go to Bermuda who hope we get to drop our proctored testing requirements too or alternatively hope Celebrity switches rhe port. It’s not about us or them. It’s about the wish to go on a normal vacation again without strict rules. That’s all.
  18. True. But they do have to give full refunds to everyone testing positive. Maybe they don’t want that expense.
  19. Lets go Repositioning Beyond 10/26. You're next. Time to drop Bermuda and add...... (I vote for Tortola)
  20. A lot of taxi drivers, tour operators, and shop/restaurant owners will be quite mad at the Bermuda government today. I suspect they drop the testing requirements very quickly to avoid further cancellations.
  21. I suspect my Repositioning cruise will be the next one to have Bermuda cancelled after the TA's today.
