  1. Celebrity includes the Premium drink package in most suite fares. Is this because they've determined that suite passengers drink less than other passengers and it's a cheap give-away?
  2. Bermuda testing requirements are being eliminated effective October 25 but Celebrity hasn't updated their website yet to reflect this change. Celebrity Summit departs Boston on October 15 and arrives in Bermuda on October 17. This is the last Celebrity sailing scheduled to go to Bermuda which requires testing. I predict Celebrity will wait until after October 17 before changing their website and rules, to prevent confusion among Summit passengers. That will give 9 days (plenty of time) for Celebrity Beyond passengers leaving for Bermuda from Port Liberty, NJ on 10/26 to cancel their testing appointments.
  3. The money has already been spent. They're probably worth more as a regular covid test without proctoring, then if you try to sell them online or through social media.
  4. Agreed. I was at a very busy casino recently and saw a woman with a mask and a face shield walking around the casino. I was thinking: "If you're that afraid or vulnerable to the virus, perhaps you should restrict your gambling to a mobile app and not be in a casino with 5,000 other people. If you're really concerned about getting Covid right now, you may want to stay off cruise ships.
  5. Hopeful your experience is representative of most people on board. I'll be on Beyond in 3 weeks and will need a decent VPN connection with my laptop to do some work while on board. No video though
  6. Wow. You’re getting a lot of crap for this post. Lol
  7. I got OBC from booking in a suite and an additional $200 because the Celebrity agent made an error quoting an upgrade and made up for it with the credit. I also got OBC after a price drop. my total was $850 I think.
  8. I have to say: it’s pretty lame to spend a fortune on a sky suite on a 9 night cruise on the newest ship in the fleet, and I’m seriously contemplating bringing my own patio furniture to be comfortable.
  9. I was thinking of bringing my own. This rolls up pretty compactly.
  10. If you're interested, read "Ship for Brains, Cruise Confidential #2" It's the second in a series of 4 behind the scenes books by a guy who spent a few years working on cruise ships. In this one, the author spent a year working as a cruise art auctioneer. Pretty interesting stuff. .. I also recommend volumes 1, 3 and 4.
  11. Does this impact those who are fully paid for an all inclusive cruise with tips included?
  12. If nobody bought art, they wouldn't do the art auctions. Apparently a lot of people buy art and it's very profitable for the cruiseline and the art auction company.
  13. Hmmm How far away is the pool deck from deck 10?? Might have to carry down a lounge chair at 6am. It's 3 decks down and about 25 cabins away from the stairs. It's doable.
  14. If you look at the first pic, there's definitely room for one of those lounge chairs. I'm guessing the decision to use those smaller chairs was made due to "design over function", budget, or supply chain. Even one lounge sideways fits, but may not look wonderful.
  15. Stairs. If I remember correctly, it was only one or 2 flights and a quick walk to the cabin. It really wasn't much more difficult than moving my own backyard furniture around.
  16. The app only shows 2-3 activities on an iphone as you scroll. There's no ability to pring the schedule and if you tried to print screen shots, you would have a 40 page book per day of printed photos.
  17. The main benefit is they will "guarantee" you make your cruise in the event of flight delays or cancellations. (to the best of their ability). When you book on your own, you are on your own.
  18. I found this pic from a Beyond review in May of an aft sky suite balcony, so balcony lounge chairs do exist. I hope I can get one.
  19. Reminder to self: Pack a highlighter and wipes to periodically clean off the yellow from the iphone screen.
  20. Basically accurate. But it was a Carnival ship and I think this wasnt as crazy as other things they were looking out for.
  21. I'm discouraged seeing photos/videos of the balcony chairs on a Beyond Sky suite. We're sailing in this category in 3 weeks. I like to spend a lot of time hanging out on the balcony, particulary when my wife is getting ready for dinner. Those chairs don't look comfortable for extended periods. A nap on a balcony at sea is also quite sweet. Those aren't napping chairs. Do you think the room steward would replace one of the chairs with a lounge chair or a more comfortable reclining type chair? I'dbring a few of my own sling camping chairs with me, since we are driving to the port and I'd throw them away at the end of the cruise. But... They're probably a fire hazard and wouldnt be allowed on the balcony or security might be afraid they could blow off the ship in the wind. Could I get away with it if I packed them in a hockey equipment duffle bag? Many years ago, on a Carnival cruise, I went up to the pool deck very early in the morning and carried down to our cabin a pool lounge chair and kept it on our balcony all week. It was great.
  22. There are way too many people in Celebrity's demographic who are much more comfortable with paper vs electronics. My 30 and 33 y/old daughters use electronics for everything. I'm 50/50 and I consider myself pretty progressive. I doubt Celebrity will totally eliminate paper activity schedules in the next 10 years. They might be available only on request, but they will be available. Check back with me in 2032 and see if I'm right.
  23. In the Spring of 2020 there were no masks available to purchase. My friends and neighbors made cloth masks for us and we knew it wasn’t as good as a real mask but we wore them to protect others when out if that’s all we had. I had one N95 mask which lasted a year. I kept it in a bag and wore it once a week when I went to the supermarket. I didn’t get Covid for the first two years.
