  1. I teach and play Mahjongg. On our recent cruise, a group of 4 women played by the Lido pool and kept the table all day. The clattering was making people nuts. Lol
  2. Good morning Dailyites. A cool morning but warming to 61. Thank you Sandi @StLouisCruisers for letting us know about Sarah's father's death. Even though they have been estranged so many years, it is difficult to go through. Prayers for Sarah, Pauline, and Graham. Gosh, my prayer book is getting filled with more prayer requests. Prayers to all of our Daily-ites, our troops, people of the world suffering. The cause of our Texas wildfires was due to a broken electrical pole and downed power lines. Prayers for all who lost homes, structures, and cattle. Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for your well kept lists, Jacqui, Roy, Debbie, Ann, Dixie.. for making our FR Daily a great place to go to every day! Jacqui @kazu I looked dumbfounded at the cartoon of the alligator til it hit me a few posts later. Debbie I love chicken stroganoff and the recipes look great. Love and blessings to you all on this 9th day of March.
  3. I agree Jacqui. Not much added for 5 star. Thinking of your ice and Ivan tonight. God bless!
  4. I ordered 100 pounds of composte/top soil and planted 6 of 8 plants today. Ran out of the composte, so ordered another 100 pounds, thanks Amaz.. I'm pooped! Herbs are coming tomorrow after 1 pm at our nursery. I have 8 spots ready to go. Other than herbs, I have 14 spots in pots ready to plant. Pray.. hope..no more frost! Sweet dreams!
  5. After our 51 day cruise in Dec/Jan we were awarded 5 star mariners! Well not so fast. Our wonderful beverage director noticed we were charged way too much on our beverages, so refunded our bottles of champagnes and other specialty drinks. Oh why, why, why did I ask about those drinks! Lol. Still have our free laundry!
  6. Good morning Dailyites Looks like a nice morning, then chance of rain this afternoon. I've been up since 1. Allen is tossing in pain. I put a salon pas on his neck and gave him Tylenol. He may take a muscle relaxer when he gets up. Going to make another attempt at getting my military deers card. This time will try Ft Hood. Will check back later.
  7. Crummy day. After (Nephrology) bloodwork, we sat at urgent care. Sweet husband has a pinched nerve right at the base of his neck. Started yesterday when he woke up. Today is miserable for him. Doctor gave us prescriptions but knowing Allen he won't take the muscle relaxers. Going to our primary on Friday to follow up. Please think of him tonight. Xx
  8. @Heartgrove I'm sorry to hear Sam is failing. Jacqui the same happened to our Mackenzie. We thought it was time to cross the rainbow Bridge, so we took her to Dairy Queen for her baby cone, and she lit up like a firecracker with a big smile. We had her 2 more glorious weeks til she told us it was time. Back to DQ and a sedative, then to the vet. We love our babies dearly don't we?
  9. Good morning Dailyites. Looks like a beautiful morning. Oliver and I just filled the bird feeders, now there's a billion dove smacking away. Yesterday Allen had a Nephrology appt. Blood work today. Doctor thinks it's diabetes related, so back to watching what my sweet husband eats. He's sneaky.. Then we went back to Fish City and I ate all the snow crab on the platter and took the dozen shrimp to our neighbor who loves them. Today I'm working on getting the rest of the planters filled with dirt. Tonight I'm making halibut and salad, not much thinking there.. lol Joy is a girl's name of Latin origin, meaning “great pleasure, happiness.” This delightful title stems from the Latin guadia, which eventually led to the modern French “joie.” In the late 19th century, Joy soared into popularity and is still adored today. I honor all of our veterans and I pray for them each day. My prayers are lifted to all on our Vanessa's care list and mine. I'd better get my day started. Have a great day!
  10. I'm almost embarrassed to show this lobster from Pinnacle. It looked like boiled cottage cheese. I enjoyed the Morimoto. It depended on who prepared it. I liked the sauce. The lobster in Canelletto with pasta was prepared the best, and the butter sauce was delicious. I'd vote.... Canneletto!
  11. We were on Rotterdam for 51 days. If I did not find something I liked on the menu, if would be lobster ordered. Here's a few pictures of Morimoto lobster, Tamarind lobster, Pinnacle lobster, Canelletto lobster, and regular MDR lobster.
  12. Dear Claudio came by and checked our drips and readjusted the sprinklers. Also fertilized the plants and trees. All is well for starting the water next week. He said I could plant the hardy type plants now! Whoopi!!! I saw some grasses at the nursery today, and I'm going back tomorrow to pick some up. I will haul a bunch of soil mixture and have the planting boxes ready to go, after DH Nephrology appointment tomorrow. Allen wanted bratwurst today for dinner. I made myself a caprese salad. Hope ya'll have a great evening. Xx
  13. Good morning Dailyites. Praying for all of our friends here today. Thinking of those having checkups, procedures, surgeries and those who are feeling unwell. National Anthem Day - March 3rd September 14, 1812, Francis Scott Key wrote down the poem that became the Star-Spangled Banner. By the early 1900s, there were several different versions of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” so President Woodrow Wilson asked the Bureau of Education to standardize it making one official version. The Bureau hired five musicians, including John Philip Sousa, to standardize the song which was first performed on December 5, 1917. Finally, on March 3, 1931, President Herbert Hoover signed a congressional order into law making “The Star-Spangled Banner” America’s national anthem. National Anthem Day falls on March 3 annually commemorating the signing of the law. Goodness, thank you for all the pictures of Alicante. What a beautiful city and history, wow. Today we are going to breakfast, market, car wash, and possibly cruise by the nursery to check things out.. I had 100 pounds of soil mixture delivered and I'll probably start putting the planters and pots out this week. I think of Gerry and Jacqui with mountains of snow, and here I am wanting to pot plants. I'm still excited to see baby Murphy going home. Hoping for periodic updates, and prayers lifted daily for her. Have a great week!
  14. Good morning Dailyites. A beautiful day in Georgetown! So happy to hear of Baby Murphy's Homecoming! Vanessa I keep praying you will have less pain. Ann, hoping your sister has a complete recovery. Prayers lifted to all on our Daily list. I am a caregiver to my husband but never feel I am. I want my sweet husband to have all he deserves in our life. He is a true hero to our country and to me. Yesterday was busy. We went to the farmers market, then lunch. I had a huge platter or crab, shrimp, potato and corn on the cob. I ate everything except the last 6 shrimp. It was delicious. Pictures are on my phone, I'll share one on an edit. The birds are eating and singing away at the feeders this morning. Our weather has been warm and I worry our returning hummingbirds will come early and be hungry so made a few containers of sugar water for them. Lenda, love the cartoon on the service animal. Yes we must take care of our ears and our hearing. Very vital to me. Wishing you all a blessed Sunday.
  15. Good morning Dailyites. Rabbit! Rabbit! White Rabbit!! I need a lucky March. @cat shepard I have been saying prayers for your sister. I hope the doctors come up with a solid plan for her. @smitty34877 you are amazing to take in all the family members and care for them. God bless you! @JazzyV thank you for the care list and I pray for your health "daily". Prayers lifted to all on our care list, Sandi's family and friend, and my prayer book. The raging wars around the world, and our Texas fires. Hapoy Birthday Bruce! Last night was game night. Paella was delicious and we had so much food left over, we need to make less, or invite more friends. Our weather today should get up to the mid 70's, sunshine is out! Our plans today are going to lunch, although I have a few chores before we leave. Endometriosis is horrible and painful, I had a hysterectomy in my 30's. I love to watch baby's sleep. I'll bet many here would love to sleep like a baby! I pretty much stick to crunchy almond butter. PB not so much. Lifting love and blessings for our Daily group. Have a great weekend. Xx
  16. Good morning Dailyites!!! I was able to like Gerry's post, so I'm hoping I'm out of hot water. I have missed ya'll. I have said my Daily prayers for all on our care list. I have read most of the posts and send condolences and celebrations. It's been busy around our house. I have spring fever and moved all the lanterns and cushions out to the patio and everything looks clean and shiny. Only problem is today's high is 49 with chance if rain, but tomorrow promises a 75 degree day. I have to pull myself away from all the beautiful flowers and tell myself not yet!! The closets are cleaned and donations ready for drop off. The garage is all finished, the racks are put together and filled. Elvis (golf cart) is washed and I ordered wax from Amaz.. We've been to several doctors appointments and several follow ups. My SH (sweet husband) has an eczema flare up and is getting shots and wallowing in ointments. I think he's starting to turn the corner. Yesterday we drove to a friends house in Pflugerville and they drove us to Camp Mabrey. My Deers/ military ID expired. Well, when we arrived the system was down (nationally) so we went to lunch, called the base, system still down.. will try another day. Last night my girlfriend came by with a big pan of paella. She asked where the other girls were, and I said "sweetie, it's Wednesday". She thought it was game night (Thursday) we had a good laugh, a glass of wine, and put the paella in the fridge for tonight. Little Oliver is trying so hard to be a good boy. He knows enough commands now (and practices them when he wants to) He has a new golf cart seat and always wants to ride on Elvis. He's a character. Jazzy, Ron is scheduled in the next few weeks for a pet scan and a hospital stay MRI. Thanking all for prayers. His Alzheimers is a concern and we really noticed it yesterday. Thinking of you all and wishing you a blessed day. I pray my post goes through!
  17. Uh oh !!! I may be "voted off the island " for several responses I made on the removal of gratuities.. If so, will post when I can be with you again.
  18. Good morning Dailyites from a 59 degree, misty, rainy morning. @GTVCRUISER A beautiful rainbow over San Diego! Thank you. Happy Birthday to @Haljo1935 Happy Anniversary @JazzyV for 1 lovely year of your prayers, cares, and celebrations lists! And thank you to all our contributors that make a difference! Oh gosh, our prayer lists have sure grown. I'm hoping someone moves to the celebration list soon. @ger_77 So happy to hear good news on Maurice. I hope things keep moving along! Last night the Mardi Gras party was wonderful. Our friends made all kinds of dishes. Crawfish, shrimp, crab, boudin, gumbo, sausages, jambalaya, dirty rice..the lust marches on. They did remove the baby from the King cake so there was no choking hazard. We drew numbers to see who hosts next year. Whew, it wasn't me! And who's ready for SUPER BOWL!! And, the puppy bowl! Commercials? Don't forget half time! Have a great weekend. Call a friend! Sending love and blessings!
  19. I have a severe garlic allergy. Our staff from the beginning of our cruise gave me a dining menu Daily that I could choose my dinner and chef ensured there was no garlic. That said, I had a night where there was garlic in my dinner and I was very sick. Luckily I carry meds. Problem is, I can't taste garlic, so unaware it's in my food. I depend on staff to ensure my safety. Only happened 1 time in 50+ days.
  20. Acclaimed Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s First Restaurant at Sea Opens Aboard Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam The new nightly specialty venue “Morimoto By Sea” welcomed dinner guests for the first time Seattle, Wash., Dec. 22, 2023 — Morimoto By Sea, Holland America Line’s newest specialty restaurant, officially opened its doors aboard Nieuw Amsterdam Dec. 21. Morimoto By Sea is the first stand-alone restaurant at sea by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, who also serves as the cruise line’s Fresh Fish Ambassador, which is part of the brand’s global fresh fish program. Chef Morimoto was present for opening night, along with Holland America Line executives and Nieuw Amsterdam guests. During the opening celebration, Chef Morimoto conducted a traditional sake barrel ceremony where he cracked open the barrel and shared the sake with opening-night attendees for a toast. “We recently transformed space on Nieuw Amsterdam into a beautiful Morimoto By Sea restaurant, and we are thrilled to be here to officially open the dining experience for our guests,” said Michael Stendebach, vice president of food, beverage and rooms division at Holland America Line. “Adding Morimoto By Sea both as a stand-alone venue and a pop-up is another way we continue to elevate our culinary offerings, and we are honored to have Chef Morimoto on board to celebrate the launch.” The Morimoto By Sea restaurant on Nieuw Amsterdam is part of Holland America Line’s global fresh fish program, which also includes a Morimoto By Sea pop-up experience once per cruise on the fleet’s other 10 ships in either Pinnacle Grill or Tamarind. The dishes served at Morimoto By Sea — and seafood offerings across Holland America Line’s fleet — are sourced from a global network of 60 ports to serve 80 types of fresh fish on board. Morimoto By Sea on Nieuw Amsterdam can be found adjacent to the Tamarind restaurant on the Observation Deck. Guests dining at Morimoto By Sea, which is open nightly, enjoy a multi-course meal highlighting the cuisine of Chef Morimoto and the cruise line’s fresh fish program. The menu also includes a selection of beef, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options, and a sushi menu for additional purchase. “I am always excited to open a new restaurant, and this grand opening is very special because it is my first restaurant on a cruise ship,” said Chef Morimoto. “I’ve cooked on land, on television, and now on the oceans. I look forward to Holland America Line guests experiencing my dishes.” In addition to cuisine, the restaurant features Chef Morimoto’s exclusive alcoholic beverages, including Morimoto Dream Brut Rosé and Morimoto Junmai Daiginjo Sake, that complement the dishes on the menu. For its opening night, Morimoto By Sea was fully booked, with guests indulging in a selection of dishes including Hamachi Tacos, Ishiyaki Buri Bop, Japanese Vegetable Curry, Slow Cooked Alaskan King Salmon and White Chocolate Lime Ganache. A full menu can be found on Holland America Line’s website. Guests can make Morimoto By Sea reservations on Holland America Line’s Navigator App or on board. The restaurant carries a cover charge of $55 per person, plus an additional 18% gratuity. 21. Allen's appointment went well at the dermatologist. He was given 2 injections of Dupixent and doctor thinks his break outs will settle down in a week! He took 6 biopsies. Back in 2 weeks to do a full body scan.
  22. Good morning Dailyites, Not much time this morning as I'm helping DH get ready for a doctor appt. Sandi I'm saying special prayers for you, your granddaughter, daughter, brother, and friends. These situations wear us down, so please take care of yourself. I hope your DGD seeks more help. Fear is just as physical as it is mental! Continued prayers for all of our dear Daily-ites and family. Sending you love and blessings!
  23. Lenda, tell the bartender you want a fresh squeezed lemon drop, no lemon "mix". Your DH should have 4 squeezed lemons. I also order mine on the rocks if by the pools. They are addicting!
  24. I totally disagree with this post. We've sailed Rotterdam for months and months in the last 3 years. Became 5 star on this last cruise. The crew deserve every dime they get, plus the extra tips cruisers give them. That said, just because you seem to have had 9 days of misery, don't forget about the crew behind the scenes. If you actually did get "food poisoning " in Pinnacle Grill, there would have been an investigation as to where you got it and what was eaten. They don't mess around with food poisoning. We sailed Nov-Dec-Jan (51 days) and never experienced poor bar service, and MDR servers were the best. Sorry you posted this. I just can't believe it, and can't believe people who would take tips away from our valuable crew, don't care that you give tips to people you feel deserve it by what you see.
