I have a question for you folks about Uber rides. I have never used Uber but recently downloaded the app and started educating myself on this service. So... I priced out the trip from FLL to terminal 18 at PE at 9:30 AM today and the lowest price that came up was around $41.00. Last month I paid $25 flat fee for a cab which I thought was a lot for a 10 minute ride. I then priced a trip from my house to my office which is literally a 5 minute drive and it priced at around $35. Now, my question is what is the big deal about this service when a cab costs less? What am I missing here?

Voom internet pre-cruise purchase
Ocean Boy replied to gizbug's topic in Royal Caribbean International
What price are they showing 25% off of? Usually there is a crossed out regular price and then the discounted price. Also, depending on your C&A level, keep in mind you will lose your free days if you by ahead of time so do the math and see if you pay less ahead of time with the discount vs. buying on board. When I was on Odyssey last month I came out ahead buying on board. I didn't buy until after midnight the second day then used my two C&A days and bought the rest of the days. -

Sure. You can use it pre-cruise in the cruise planner or toward a purchase once on the ship. -
A Day at Labadee, Haiti. March 13, 2024
Ocean Boy replied to twangster's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I think on Coco Cay it is possible to have a Labadee type experience if you head to the right areas. On Labadee you can't necessarily have a Coco Cay type experience. The food is much better on Coco Cay. There is not as much need to return to the ship for lunch. The vendor area seems much more "commercial" on Coco Cay. They sell things like snorkels and masks with price tags on them like you would find at Walmart. I don't know if you can negotiate on price. On Labadee it has more of a Caribbean vibe even if most of the stuff was made in China. The merchants on Coco Cay are totally non aggressive to the point where some just ignore you unless you ask them a question. That is very different from Labadee. I like the loungers being set up ahead of time at Coco Cay rather than having someone stalk me in Labadee looking to move a chair then expecting a tip. Sailing up to Coco Cay gives the impression of arriving at an amusement park whereas sailing up to Labadee has much more of a secluded Gilligan's Island type vibe. -
Interesting that RCI's IT can pull that off considering everything that they can't do.
