  1. So sad. May Bob rest in Peace and may healing come to the family. Wishing a positive turn for @marshhawk and @catmandoo as well. Roy
  2. Today's sunrise is from my 2017 Caribbean cruise on MS Koningsdam. On February 25 Koningsdam visited Bonaire: This was a bit of a "throw-away" cruise, getting me out of the northeast before flying to Buenos to board Ctystal Serenity. I really wanted the cruise but especially wanted not to miss a World Cruise segment. Roy

  4. Welcome to the Fleet Report and Daily, neighbor. Roy
  5. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Laura, and Dixie for your contributions today. I am thinking @Cruzin Terri and @seagarsmoker may have a mini-celebration today with primaries and a reduction of political ads for a while. I will pass on today's days but celebrate the Gregoriian Calendar. Bon Voyage @Cruise Suzy. Welcome back @cat shepard (hopefully home soon), @ottahand7 (have a great road trip), and @MISTER 67. I definitely like the quote. The meal sounds nice. My alternative is Chilled Sour Cherry Soup, Spaghetti Americiana, and Rhubarb Crisp as served on MS Koningsdam February 24, 2017: Men's breakfast in about a half hour (on Zoom) and then time at the fire house this afternoon. Roy
  6. Having sailed Wind Star and Wind Surf I wish you the fabulous time I am confident you will have. Bon Voyage! Roy
  7. There is a bar code at one end of the card. If you use the sleeve it would block the bar code but if you left the bar code near the open end you could in many cases just push it up enough to show the bar code without needing to take it out. I suspect some people have scanners with them while others may need to take the card back to their central location. Roy
  8. Not sure if the answers are right for the Nieuw Statendam. The Pinnacle Class ships (Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam, and Rotterdam) do not have a magnetic strip, but have a chip and a bar code, and usually just getting the card near either a bar code reader or a chip scanner should be sufficient. The phone should not de-activate the chip but I'm not sure if it would really work right next to the phone, and I think the card is usually collected when you order a drink although I'm not sure of that. I think it could be worth an experiment but it's probably not a great idea to keep it there most of the time. You will also need some kind of a card for a slot by the door to keep the lights and power on in your room. Could be an old credit card or even an old medical appointment card but you will need something ready for that. Roy
  9. Today's sunrise is from my 2018 Crystal World Cruise. On February 23 Crystal Symphony visited Dunedin (Port Chalmers) New Zealand. Roy

  11. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Laura, and Dixie for the TGIF report. I never really understood curling although some of my aunts and uncles in the Montreal area were avid curlers. Diesels are especially important on ships and fantastic progress has been made in cleaning them up. Every day should be Stand Up to Bullies Day, whether in person, cyber, or international. Interesting comment by Covey. Three interesting dates in history but I will especially celebrate the Panama Canal. I have not sailed to Kona but visited way back on a 1992 land trip. Oatmeal cookies are great although I prefer Oatmeal Raisin. My alternative menu suggestion is Cucumber, Radish, and Mixed Green Salad, Quince Glazed Pork Chop, and Pear Frangiapone Tart as served on MS Prinsendam February 23, 2019 and I would probably go up to the Lido for an Oatmeal Raisin cookie after dinner: Happy Birthday @Mr. Boston DH. Roy
  12. Wishing @lindaler a great birthday and hoping she's all right. She has not posted since mid-December. Roy
  13. @grapau27 that pastry or whatever it was on the dashboard seemed a bit incongrous to me almost to the point of a chuckle but not quite. I think the time difference between us added some to the surprise I saw. Roy
  14. My Helsinki photos will not exactly be Helsinki. I visited twice, 2003 on a round the world attempt I put together and again in 2015. The 2003 trip was quite a complex conjunction of disparate segments, Amtrak Baltimore to Montreal, a freighter to Belgium, and train and ferry connections to Helsinki, then train connections to St Petersburg, Moscow, and Beijing, Crystal Harmony to Vancouver, and VIA/Amtrak back home. The final completed water segment was a ferry from Stockholm, and then mid trans-Siberian got word that the Cruise from Beijing to Vancouver had been cancelled due to SARS. My visit on the Prinsendam became something of a flash back to that trip. While on deck I got a very nice view of the ship that had carried me to Helsinki 12 years early, the Viking Line's Gabriella. While on the ship I never got much of a view of it: A couple files from the Gabriella as well. First, my cabin: While I had a window, the view from that window was not much: Ro7
  15. Thank you. I hadn't realized you were on the Zaandam. Enjoy the Amazon. Roy
  16. The doctor was mostly a non-event, but things return to my regular oncologist with labs next Monday and a visit March 4. He does think there will be some additional PET/CAT scans in the not too distant future if my PSA continues to rise. Roy
  17. One more sunset, this time from my 2016 Crystal Symphony Antarctica cruise from Buenos Aires to Miami. February 22 was a sea day from Salavery to Guayquil: Roy

  19. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Laura, and Dixie. Welcome home Tina. Wishing Vanessa a successful procedure and happy to hear from Ann and Chuck. I like the days although 2Twenty2 day was at it's best 2 years ago. Two interesting quotes today. I visited Helsinki in 2003 and 2015. Three great days in history although the consequences for Galileo were unfortunate. I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Classic Caesar Salad, Turkey Roast With Giblet Gravy and Cranberry, and NSA Strawberry Ice Cream as served on MS Koningsdam February 22, 2017. I see the radiation oncologist today for what will probably be the last time for a while, a followup to my series of treatments. I do not expect to learn much from it. I slept well last night but am still fighting drowsiness this morning. Roy
  20. Thank you @StLouisCruisers for the update on @marshhawk and @catmando, Roy
  21. I have a sunset today rather than a sunrise. It's from my 2022 cruise on Enchantment of the Seas out of Baltimore. On February 21 we visited Nassau: Roy
